The Adventures of Paddington Bear (Western Animation)

The Adventures of Paddington Bear is the third animated series based off the Paddington Bear franchise, produced between Canadian studio Cinar, France's Protécréa, and the British FilmFair. The show ran from 1997 to 2000 for 39 episodes over 3 seasons and aired on ITV in Britain, Canal J and TF1 in France, Teletoon in Canada, and HBO in USA.

Like in the books, it's about a bear from darkest Peru who gets adopted by the Brown family and gets into hijinks related to either them, his grouchy neighbor Mr. Curry, or anyone he meets when traveling with Mr. Gruber.

Each episode contains three shorts; some of them have Paddington in the United Kingdom, or traveling with Mr. Gruber.

Not to be confused with The Adventures of Paddington, the 2019 Nick Jr. series.

The Adventures of Paddington Bear provides examples of:

  • Birthday Episode:
    • Season 2's episode "A Disappearing Trick" (based on the original story) has Paddington celebrate his first birthday with the Brown family, and he wants to perform a magic show.
    • Season 3's episode "Mr. Curry's Birthday Bash" deals with Mr. Curry's birthday.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first season lacks songs compared to the later seasons.
  • Three Shorts: Each episode contains three separate shorts.
