Simon (2016) (Western Animation)
Simon is a French preschool animated series based on a book series by Stéphanie Blake and produced by GO-N Productions.

Simon is an anthropomorphic little rabbit who lives his daily adventures with his parents André and Eva, his little brother Gaspard, and also his friends like Lou and Ferdinand. Every day, Simon learns to overcome his fears and discovers new things about life.

In France, the series premiered on France 5 on December 17, 2016, before being exported to other countries.


Tropes:

  • Animal Superheroes: The Super Rabbit episodes have Simon and his friends transforming into superhero rabbits and fight against an evil wolf named Professor Wolf.
  • Attention Whore: At his worst, Simon may be this. He doesn't like when the others try to steal the spotlight from him.
  • Baby Talk: Gaspard is only 3 years old and tends to use babyish speech at times.
  • Barely Changed Dub Name:
    • In the Italian dub, Simon is changed to Simone, Gaspard to Gaspare, André to Andrea, Ferdinand to Ferdinando, and Lou to Lulù.
    • In the European Portuguese dub, Simon is changed to Simão, Gaspard to Gaspar, and Ferdinand to Fernando.
  • Birthday Episode: There are quite a few of these episodes, one for the birthday of Simon himself, one for the birthday of his mom, his dad, and even for the birthday of Simon's friends.
  • Cheerful Child: Simon is supposed to be 5/6 years old and usually has an enthusiastic approach to life. His little brother and his friends are also happy-go-lucky.
  • Cool Big Bro: Simon, to Gaspard. Gaspard admires his older brother and wants to do everything Simon does.
  • The Dentist Episode: One episode deals with Simon being scared of the dentist. He calms down after the visit.
  • Edutainment Show: The show is about an energetic young rabbit learning life lessons in an entertaining way.
  • Expository Theme Tune: "Here comes Simon, here comes Simon! The little bunny who everyone adores! There’s daddy, mommy, Gaspard and Lou! There’s not a game that he won’t explore with Ferdinand or Mamadou!"
  • Friendly Rivalry: Despite being very good friends, Simon and Ferdinand frequently argue when they compete over little things. But at the end, they quickly get over it.
  • Furry Confusion: Despite the fact there are non-sapient dogs, the Super Rabbit episodes has Professor Wolf, an anthropomorphic canine.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Lou looks and acts feminine, always wearing a cute dress, and her superhero costume is pink. On the other hand, she usually hangs out with boys (like Simon and Ferdinand) and enjoys playing sports with them, including football.
  • Hulking Out: For some reason in some Super Rabbit episodes, Professor Wolf can somehow get muscular and large when he gets enraged.
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Simon likes to think of himself as a fearless superhero named Super Rabbit who solves his problems by fighting Professor Wolf, usually helped by his friends or his brother.
  • Lesser Animals: Simon is part of a family of anthropomorphic rabbits, and they own a pet cat named Milou.
  • Rascally Rabbit: Simon is a rabbit who can be mischievous in a playful way. His friend Ferdinand, another rabbit, also likes pranks at times.
  • Savage Wolves: In the Super Rabbit episodes, the main villain is the Laughably Evil Professor Wolf, and the heroes have to stop his evil plans.
