Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (Western Animation)
"You don't know what you've uncovered... a truth that should have remained hidden — the truth behind the curse of Crystal Cove! The real mystery has just begun."
Mr. E

The New '10s' take on the Scooby-Doo franchise, which aired from April 5, 2010 to April 5, 2013 for two seasons consisting of 52 episodes.

This series offers a fresh take on the franchise that could be best described as a bizarre meta-parody/deconstruction of Scooby-Doo. A Darker and Edgier approach aimed at an older audience than usual, Mystery Incorporated is prone to Lampshade Hanging and hosted a more tongue-in-cheek, sardonic sense of humor that poke fun at not only the Scooby-Doo franchise and other characters from the Hanna-Barbera library, but also other works of horror fiction, covering a wide range of film, TV and literature Shout Outs.

After Scooby and friends have solved many of the mysteries around their hometown of Crystal Covenote , the town decides it's had enough of them debunking all their prospective tourist attractions and cracks down on Mystery Inc.'s mystery solving. But no one, not overbearing parents, nor an obnoxiously obstructive sheriff, nor a mayor who's more interested in tourism than solving crimes (and also an overbearing parent), nor the mysterious Mr. E and the supposed curse of Crystal Cove, can stop Mystery Inc.! As such, hilarity ensues... at least, at first.

While featuring a typical Scooby-Doo formula of Monster of the Week that is unmasked at the end, the series also contains a Myth Arc revolving around a cursed treasure buried under the town which slowly and steadily pours on the Nightmare Fuel. Vote here for your favorite episode.

The series' entire distinctive premise of an overarching Myth Arc along with Monsters of the Week and secrets and conspiracies, all within a single town, were likely inspired from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which, fittingly enough, the main characters were referred to as "scoobies".

Character-specific tropes should go to the character sheet, unless they apply to multiple characters or characters without their own entry in the character sheet. After solving a case about the mummified ghost of Friar Serra supposedly haunting a play about how he and his donkey Porto saved Crystal Cove by leading its people away from a devastating earthquake, the Mystery Gang is confronted by the real mummified Friar Serra, who comes to life and reveals the truth: during Crystal Cove’s founding, Serra belonged to a group of mystery-solving friars and had a pet donkey named Porto, and together they discovered a deranged conquistador who dropped two gold pieces that may have led to a treasure of immeasurable wealth and power; realizing an evil force was connected to the pieces and intending to destroy them before it corrupted them fully, they were thwarted when Porto became especially corrupted, stole one of the pieces, and used dozens of gunpowder barrels hidden beneath the town to destroy much of Crystal Cove. Serra chased Porto into the alligator-infested swamps outside town and recovered the piece while Porto was dragged away by alligators, but returned too late to stop the barrels from exploding and sinking most of Crystal Cove into the ocean. To keep others from falling under the piece’s dark influence, Serra hid it inside a wheel of cheese so it could never be found, then, after revealing these true events, he gives Mystery Inc. a grim warning: this has all happened before, it always starts with the animal, and they must beware Nibiru…
