Mickey and the Very Many Christmases (Western Animation)

Mickey and the Very Many Christmases is a Christmas Special starring Mickey Mouse that came out on Disney Junior on December 1, 2024. The special follows Mickey as he has such a great Christmas with his friends that he wishes it was Christmas every day. He's then surprised to see his wish come true. At first, he enjoys it, but then it becomes too much. He and his friends travel to a Christmas village to undo his wish. But when he uses the wish with the wrong phrase, he accidentally erases Christmas forever! Can Mickey get the holidays back to normal and have it be only one day instead of many?

Here's the trailer.

This special provides examples of:

  • Animated Musical: Much like the previous holiday specials, this special has many songs in it.
  • Art Evolution: The special marks the first time in which the Mickey Mouse characters are animated by Icon Creative Studio. As such, the brighter designs and colors are more reminiscent of their work on other Disney Junior shows, and they're shown to be much more expressive.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: The wish to have Christmas forever ultimately ends up backfiring for Mickey. He eventually grows tired of celebrating the same Christmas everyday. He also ends up wishing that Christmas would stop, but poor wording means that Christmas is erased.
  • Bookends: A somewhat literal example happens here. One of the early scenes of the special is Mickey looking through a memory book. This special ends with Twinkles looking at a book recapping what happened throughout the special.
  • Butt-Monkey: Donald still fills this role. He accidentally throws his coin onto himself when trying to make a wish. Plus, thanks to Mickey's wish of having Christmas everyday, he keeps going through slapstick that lands him in Goofy's sweater.
  • Christmas Carolers: The little Christmas village has mechanical carolers welcoming everyone to the Christmas village.
  • Christmas Elves: The special introduces an elf named Twinkles, who helps Mickey out as he makes his Christmas wish.
  • Christmas Every Day: Unsurprisingly, the special is all about this. Specifically, Mickey wishes it was Christmas every day because of how much fun he had with his friends.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mickey becomes this as Christmas keeps repeating. He makes sarcastic comments to himself as he says how this is becoming too repetitive.
  • Exact Words: Mickey wishes that it stopped being Christmas anymore. Unfortunately, rather than wishing that it wasn't Christmas anymore until next year, he accidentally says it wasn't Christmas anymore, and that's it. As such, Twinkles the elf disappears as a sign that the holiday itself is disappearing.
  • Fading Away: When Mickey inadvertently wishes for it to not be Christmas anymore, Twinkles starts to disappear as she tells him that his wish came true. Given how she doesn't act too concerned, it seems like she knew this would happen.
  • Fantastic Foxes: Twinkles is described as being like a fox, and she certainly has a fun, trickster personality when helping Mickey out.
  • Genki Girl: Twinkles is a very energetic and spunky elf.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: Mickey ends up repeating the same Christmas over and over again.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Daisy says no pressure when telling Mickey to not miss his aim even though she's ironically pressuring him.
  • Incredibly Long Note: The "Over Again" song has Mickey hold on the word "again" for at least 5 minutes.
  • The Klutz: Unsurprisingly, Goofy is still this. When he first enters Mickey's house, he trips on the doormat, and lands inside Donald's sweater.
  • Make a Wish: Mickey wishes that it was Christmas everyday with a special star coin.
  • No Antagonist: This special doesn't have an antagonist, with the main source of conflict happening because of Mickey's wish going wrong. Even when it gets a bit darker thanks to Mickey accidentally wishing Christmas away, it's still not malicious.
  • Not So Above It All: Mickey is not above doing some mischievous things here. In one scene, Donald shows poor aim when throwing his coin into the train car, and messes up. Mickey actually takes a picture of this and laughs about it, which he's not fond of.
  • OOC Is Serious Business: Given how Mickey is usually known for being a Nice Guy, it says something when everyone can see that something is wrong when he snaps, and angrily says how there's nothing merry about Christmas anymore.
  • Orbital Shot: The camera rotated around Mickey during "Christmas All Over Again"
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: When Mickey has Christmas for the third day in a row, he tries to fix things by making sure that Goofy doesn't slip on his mat and making sure that his chocolates for Minnie are unmelted. He succeeds in doing both, but he still keeps repeating the same day over and over again.
  • True Meaning of Christmas: The message of the special comes down to how Christmas should be cherished once a year, but you can keep the good memories of it with your loved ones.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: The episode is initially just some lighthearted fun, with the worst thing that happens being Mickey's annoyance at repeated Christmases. Then the mold shifts to something more serious when he accidentally wishes Twinkles away because he accidentally wished Christmas away.
