Based on the work of Paul Frank, Julius Jr. is a show produced by Saban Brands (yes, that Saban Brands), which then-owned the Paul Frank brand. The stories follows Julius and his friends Clancy the giraffe, Worry Bear, Sheree the raccoon and Ping the panda in their day to day adventures, the problem that they face, and the steps they take to resolve it.
The show aired on Nick Jr. in the US until it was canceled in 2015 after two seasons.
Julius Jr. Contains examples of the following tropes:
- Allegedly Free Game: All the apps. They're free to download, but additional features costs real world money to unlock.
- Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: Sheree is a blue raccoon.
- Animesque: Drawn in the form of chibi.
- Character Title: Featuring the main character, Julius Jr.
- Christmas Episode: Worry Bear Finds The Light/Julius Alliday, with honorable mentions of Hanukkah and Chinese New Year.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Worry Bear seems to be the only one with this exception, where everyone else has a proper name but him.
- Fooled by the Sound: In "Fruitronic 5000", Julius's stomach gurgles and Worry Bear wonders if it's a sea monster.
- Halloween Episode: The season 1 episode Dressed for Spook-cess, where Worry Bear and Ping muct co-operate to match their costumes before they go trick-or-treating.
- Hologram: As seen in Do the Dez Bop, Marv has a hologram camcorder/projector system hidden in his hat.
- Innocently Insensitive: In No Snow Mo, Chip reports to Sheree to cancel the snow cones she was preparing since there's no snow from Mo, only for her and Julius to burst into laughter upon hearing the titular phrase. Mo however, mistakes this for the latter two making fun of him and runs away from the box in tears.
- Lyrical Dissonance: In Smellalicious Flower, the gang tries singing Sheree's special staying awake song, which consists of original lyrics about staying awake sung to Brahms Lullaby.
- My Beloved Smother: Diamondbeard's mother. She keeps getting in his way, and seems to be able to tell what he's up to despite almost always being on the ship.
- Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Sheree's outfit in "Dressed for Spook-cess" is a "Pirate Robot Fairy".
- The Power of Rock: There are times where the power of rock is the solution to the problem the gang is facing, notably in the episode Rock Sitting when Worry Bear's sentient rock collection goes missing and the only way to draw them out is the power of music.
- Shrink Ray: The Shrinkerator, a machine that shrinks items and lifeforms down to minuscule sizes.
- Spin-Off Babies: Based on Paul Frank's Julius and several other characters. In preschooler form.
- Stock "Yuck!": Despite being a monkey, Julius hates bananas.
- Swapped Roles: In the episode Pirate Julius, Julius and Diamondbeard swap roles for a while so Julius can see how it's like being a pirate and Diamondbeard can see how it's like being an inventor.
- Title Theme Tune: "Come along with Julius Jr., you never know where you're gonna be! Come along with Julius Jr., step inside the box and see!"
- To the Tune of…: In Perfect Pirate Day, Diamondbeard, Julius and Sheree sings a variant of What Do You Do With A Drunken Sailor?. They then a song with original lyrics about staying awake to the tune of Brahms Lullaby in Smellalicious Flower
- Worthless Treasure Twist: In the episode Clancy, Be Careful, the gang helps Diamondbeard find treasure from a map he's found. It turns out that the treasure was all the stuff that belonged to him when he was a baby, because the treasure was his mom's treasure.
