Descendants: Wicked World is an animated series of shorts, spinning off from the Descendants film series, taking place in-between Descendants and Descendants 2.

Continuing their adventures at Auradon Prep, the Villain Kids are joined by more of their own, but do these newcomers have plans of their own that put Auradon in danger?

The series ended in 2017 after two seasons, to continue on to Descendants 2.

Tropes in this series include:

• Alternate Identity Amnesia: Mal has no memory of what she was doing after being freed from her jewel's curse, thus Evie had to recap the whole thing.
• Brainwashed and Crazy: Mal suffers this throughout the first half of the Jewel-bilee arc thanks to a curse placed upon her birthright jewel when in her possession.
• Brought Down to Normal: After Zevon is defeated, Mal uses the power of the staff to remove the curse from her birthright jewel, returning it to normal.
• The Cameo: A bust of Hades is seen in Dr. Facilier's office when Mal and Freddie are searching through it.
• Canon Foreigner: This series featured some AKs and VKs who did not appear in the films, such as Dr. Facilier's daughter Freddie, Alice's daughter Ally, and Captain Hook's daughter CJ in Season 1, and Yzma's son Zevon in Season 2. We also get a glimpse of Rapunzel's daughter Ruby, albeit we never really see her aside from the hair.
• Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Chad, Doug, and Dude the dog were nowhere to be seen nor mentioned throughout the show's run.
• Dance Party Ending: The Jewel-bilee arc ends on one proper.
• Disneyfication: The artstyle uses Disney's typical artstyle for its CGI-animated movies.
• The Faceless: Only Ruby's extremely long hair is ever seen.
• Hypnotize the Captive: In the first quarter of Season 2, Mal is mind-controlled into becoming a ruthless tyrant by her birthright jewel, which was cursed by Maleficent years ago. Zevon also uses it in the penultimate episode to get Mal to join him, but it is flung away by Evie.
• Internal Reveal: In "Trapped", while the audience had known of such since the first half of the season, Allie tells Audrey that all of the disasters Mal caused to ruin the Jewel-bilee were not her fault, and she was under a spell from her cursed birthright jewel at that time. Realizing that she banned Mal from the Jewel-bilee for no reason, Audrey breaks down in tears.
• Ironic Echo:
  • When Mal tries to apologize to Audrey for ruining the Jewel-bilee, Audrey does not believe her and goes:
    Audrey: Apology not accepted! Apology rejected! Like an ugly stepsister with size 12 feet!
  • Much later after Audrey learns from Ally that everything Mal did was not her fault because of her being under a spell from her cursed birthright jewel, Audrey feels bad and apologizes to Mal for not believing her afterwards. Mal's response?
    Mal: Apology 100% accepted.
• Mind-Control Device: Mal's birthright jewel, which was cursed by Maleficent years before the franchise. As long as Mal remains in contact with such, she becomes a rampaging she-witch.
• Mind-Control Eyes: The effects of the curse from Mal's birthright jewel are manifested by an infernal green glow in her eyes.
• My God, What Have I Done?: Audrey felt this way when Ally reveals everything Mal did wasn't her fault because she was under a curse caused by her birthright jewel hidden in the necklace Freddie gave her.
• Rejected Apology: Audrey initially refuses Mal's apology for what she did when cursed by her birthright jewel. Once Ally tells her the truth, she regrets it.
• Spoiler Opening: The Season 2 opening shows Mal and Evie wearing their Jewel-bilee dresses in addition to their respective birthright jewels; Mal is not turning evil from hers despite it being cursed years ago, giving away the curse is lifted after the final battle.
• Story Arc:
  • The first half of the first season consists of a "wish granted" saga when the VKs encounter Jordan. The second half has everyone preparing for the Neon Lights Ball and solving a mystery.
  • Season 2 focuses on an overarching arc where the AKs and VKs prepare for the Jewel-bilee and Mal tries to stop a curse on her own jewel which involves Yzma's son Zevon.
• Strange-Syntax Speaker: The spell that Mal casts on everyone (except Evie) causes them to speak like this.
  Audrey: In trouble big you are!
  Ally: What now happening is?!
  Jane: Voices our she's bewitched!
  Jay: Deserve you what get you.
• Turn the Other Cheek: At the end of the Jewel-bilee arc, Audrey apologizes to Mal for not believing her about her curse, and Mal was immediately forgiving of her, mirroring Audrey's Rejected Apology prior.
