Broken Karaoke (Western Animation)
First rule of Karaoke? Sing regardless of your skills!

Broken Karaoke is a series of interstitial shorts released for Disney Channel, which premiered in 2019. It features characters from various series produced by Disney Television Animation singing parodies of songs, usually of those from the Disney Channel Original Movies, but sometimes by various other artists as well. Most of the characters have their original voice actors from their series reprise their roles for the shorts.

Movie/Show/Artist songs parodied by Broken Karaoke

Traditional/Original songs released by Broken Karaoke

Broken Karaoke provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: "Sidekicks" ends with Hop Pop asking Goofynote  if he knows him from somewhere, referencing how Bill Farmer voices both characters.
  • Breaking Old Trends: "Tweenage Farm Kid" is the first Broken Karaoke installment to use the traditional animation from the show (Big City Greens in this case), instead of the Flash animation produced by Disney Television Animation.
  • Fear Song: "Ways We Feel Anxious" is sung by Marcy, Gloria, Candace, and Libby, as they voice how anxious they are when doing their everyday life.
  • Follow the Bouncing Ball: The early videos feature the song's lyrics appearing onscreen, with the head of whoever is singing bouncing across them. This was dropped from "Where Are All the Monsters?" onward, albeit a separate video containing said lyrics was also released.
  • It's All About Me: Lampshaded by Bucky. "I Will Be a Superstar" is all about Dewey, Bucky, Helen, and Lacienega boast about their unique talents and how they see themselves as better than everyone else. Eventually, their egos clash and they start trying to one-up each other.
  • Medium Blending: "I Will Be a Superstar" features Bucky, who's rendered in CGI, interacting with the 2D characters and environments.
  • Pep-Talk Song: "We're Goin' Offline" involves Cricket trying to show Remy the joys of going outside and being active rather than just staying inside and looking at screens all day.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: "Stuck at Home" and "Where Are All the Monsters?" were produced during the COVID-19 Pandemic, and thus made several references to it such as wearing face masks, keeping a 6-foot distance, and staying home to prevent spreading the disease.
  • Song Parody: Most of the songs are parodies of those from the DCOMs, older artists, or traditional folk songs.
  • Villain Song: "Evil as Can Be" is sung by the various villains of multiple animated Disney shows — including those that have ended or been canceled — as they brag about how mean and evil they are.
