Sammy showing off her smartphone.
iMew is a comedy webcomic about law school student named Sammy, who accidentally purchases a cursed knockoff iphone has the ability to transform its owner in the most feline of ways. It's a Race Against the Clock to get back to normal, as the phone's charge slowly drains, else she'll be stuck changed and transformed. Forever!
The comic was drawn and written by Nekonny and co-written by Curran, and can be read on Kemono Café here
and the first arc went for 50
pages, before starting a new arc with 3 pages, after which the comic went inactive.
This webcomic provides examples of:
- Transformation Trinket: The iMew, a magic device, and the cause of all of Sammy's transformations.
- Race Against the Clock: The cast needs to get the iMew fixed before it dies, or else the transformations are permanent. It slowly loses its charge throughout the comic.
- Catching Some Z's: Eddie
's basically falling asleep on the couch, ending his speech bubble with Zs. - Speaks Fluent Animal: Sammy gains the ability to talk to Eddie after she sprouts cat ears
- Asian Speekee Engrish: The conclusion of the first arc
deliberately misspells "English" as "Engrish" due to being in Chinatown. And because the phone is now in Version 2.0 with an "Engrish" update, being a Chinese knock-off. - Culture Blind: Sammy thinks ordering Chinese food is enough to give her an understanding of Chinese culture.
- Alpha Bitch: Lori's whole character. She has a clear ego and sees characters like Sammy as beneath her.
- Bit-by-Bit Transformation: After getting the iMew, Sammy gets cat parts one after another. First she gets ears, then a tail, and eventually it gets completed.
- Forced Transformation: Even though Sammy's changes are largely her own fault, she's unable to stop them and is at the mercy of her phone.
- Breast Expansion: After using a slider on the iMew by accident, Sammy's breasts expand significantly. They manage to start reversing it, but due to some A-Cup Angst, Sammy seizes the opportunity to keep them much bigger than before.
- Wardrobe Malfunction: When Sammy shrinks down to the size of a cat she loses her shoes, skirt, and even her panties...well...at least her shirt still stays on her cat body, if just barely.
- Magic Skirt: Despite Sammy having a very long very big tail that's constantly swaying around, her skirt always manages to cover just enough.
- The same is true when she shrinks and only has a shirt on, even though it's even shorter.
- Written Sound Effect: BAMF!
When Sammy's tail rips through her pants! - iPhony: The comic revolves around a Chinese knock-off of iPhone called iMew.
- The Rival: Perfectly encapsulates Lori, who is a direct Rival of Sammy's.
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Curran wears a little tie.
- Moment Killer: In the fifth page, Lydia barges in on Sammy and Raf, hoping to be interrupting something romantic.
- The Reveal: Literally occurs when Sammy reveals to Lydia that she's grown cat ears and a tail.
- Fantastic Arousal: Sammy’s tail causes her overwhelming arousal. She blushes heavily from the sensation of it tearing through her jeans and even has to sit down because of the pleasure.
- Animals Lack Attributes: Eddie, Curran, and later Sammy!
- Through a Face Full of Fur: Characters are able to blush through fur.
- Symbol Swearing: "Ah $#!*"
- Festival Episode: Not an actual "episode", but a section of the story takes place at a cat festival.
- What Could Possibly Go Wrong??: Sammy says “We've got it all under control, so relax!” She then proceeds to lose a contest, lose the iMew, and change even further.
- Wham Line: "Gah! Eddie? Edgeworth?! You can talk?!"

- When Sammy utters the line "Okay, if you think it will be that eas- Meow!" They're about the embark on their plan, when mid sentence Sammy's speech is completely replaced with meows.
- Wham Shot: The shot after Lori messes with the iMew, leading to a very dramatic panel. She's no longer a furry cat girl, but rather a cat with barely any human attributes. This signals a shift in how dire the situation has become.
- Oh, Crap!: Happens with Sammy after every change.
- Also happens with Lydia when she realizes that Sammy's suddenly grown a muzzle. She can't believe how much more cat she is!
- Token Romance: Sammy has a crush on Raf, but it has very little to do with the story.
- Best Friend: Lydia is the person Sammy trusts most, to the point she's willing to trust her with helping her get back to normal.
- Hope Spot: Sammy finally finds someone who understands the phone and can get her back to normal, but instead they instantly push her changes further than all the previous ones combined, to the point that she drops a place in the Sliding Scale of Anthropomorphism
- Death Glare: When Sammy confronts Curran.
- Showing Off the New Body: When they discover the Year of the Cat festival
, and Sammy suddenly wants everyone to see all of her cat features- Happens again when she enters into the contest with the expectation of an easy victory due to how catlike she's become.
- The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body:
- First shown when Sammy enters the cat festival. Her attention span and desire to hide her cat features has completely vanished. She's even developed a strong craving for fish!
- Can clearly be seen when Sammy chases after Lori where she instinctively drops onto all fours to chase after her
- When Sammy tries to claim that her mind is not the least bit feline, Eddie effortlessly disproves her by mentioning "tuna fish", causing Sammy to beg for some like a cat without a thought.
- Seen again when Sammy ditches her remaining clothes and walk around fully naked, completely unprompted.
- Voice Change Surprise: Occurs when Sammy completely loses the ability to speak. Her words instantly devolve into meows, and it only grows more frantic, shocking, and animalistic as she tries to talk.
