Lythero (Web Video)
Lythero (Real name Lee) is an Irish YouTuber and Twitch streamer. Initially known for his edited montages and tutorials for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, where he mained Phoenix Wright, he is now more well known for his raid boss videos on Dragon Ball FighterZ, where he teams up with his friends and fellow streamers Zyzx_ aka Gary and IHeartJustice AKA Javier, more simply Javi, with all three of them collectively referred to as the "Shenanigoons" after tangoing with the Three Idiots to duke it out against the game's raid boss events while also roleplaying as the characters they are using. Many shenaniganZ ensue as a result.

Other noteworthy games in Lythero's repertoire include Mario Kart 8, Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart, and Super Smash Bros.. Alongside the usual trio of Shenanigoons other noteworthy co-hosts appear and join Lythero's streams/videos, such as PaperBoxHouse AKA Alfred Coleman (well known for playing Eggman in Real-Time Fandub) who has appeared in a few of the raid boss videos and Lythero's Sonic-related streams/videos.

His YouTube channel can be found here, and his Twitch here. He uploads his Twitch VODs onto YouTube here.

Lythero's videos contain examples of:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: How Anna gets portrayed in "The Silver Campaign", where she exhibits an immense, and disturbing admiration for Silver the Hedgehog, and Silver himself is having none of it. Later on in the sidequest she shows up in, Silver finds out from Sonicman that he's not her first target of admiration, and that she also grips the balls of anyone she admires until they die. His only escape was when he accidentally kills himself trying to get past one of Eggman's robots, and then Anna herself gets kidnapped. Even some of the Soleannan Guards express appreciation to Silver for getting rid of her.
  • Abusive Offspring: Goku and Bardock both often do battle, although Bardock doesn't always know he's fighting his son.
  • Accidental Misnaming: Somehow, Turles does this to himself, introducing himself as Tortele. SSJ4 Vegeta also misnames him, calling him Tortelini in response.
  • Adapted Out: A necessary evil when you have to distill hours of a stream into less than an hour-long video.
    • The parts of the video covering Shadow's Story in The Silver Campaign compilation video skips the last level and ending cutscene of his plot, going straight to the credits after Omega fights off Mephiles at Wave Ocean.
  • Adaptational Badass: Due to the nature of Dragon Ball FighterZ, many skin mods give the represented character a massive boost in power scaling, plus whatever powers their base character had. Some standout examples include:
    • Carl Wheezer is a skin over Frieza, and an all-powerful fighter obsessed with fucking Jimmy's mom and, in some cases, his dad.
    • While Mickey Mouse has dealt some good blows in some of his game appearances (eg. Kingdom Hearts, Epic Mickey), here, he's a skin for Super Broly, giving him a Golden Super Mode and another, massively ripped transformation with Broly's build.
    • The same also applies to Sans who in his own game is a One-Hit-Point Wonder, here as a skin over Gotenks he's able to take multiple hits and keep going and can retaliate with explosive copies of Nicolas Cage's head.
    • Eggman has demonstrated some surprising feats of strength, but he did all of his serious fighting from his mechs. Here, he's a skin over Super Baby 2, allowing him to brawl with the best of them, fire off ki attacks, and chuck explosive, Frieza-destroying Nokias.
    • While Amy Rose is certainly no slouch, she is a powerhouse here as she's a skin over Master Roshi and she gives the 'goons a massively hard time.
Amy Rose: Please have fear; Amy Rose is here!
    • Omega can now go Super Mode despite being a robot.
  • Adaptational Dumbass: Gary plays Gogeta Blue up as a blithering idiot, especially when compared to when Gary is playing Vegito. He struggles to count to 2, he eats an apple despite having an apparent apple allergy...
SSB Gogeta: I have two brains, and my IQ is still under 2!
  • Adaptational Jerkass:
    • Goku, outside of his base form, is fairly abrasive and rude. Dripstinct in particular is unwilling to give any of his drip or any of the money he used to buy said drip to his son, who's only wearing a pair of underpants, and is also disdainful of his own father, Bardock.
    • Sonic in "Super Shenanigoons 64" uncommonly displays active antagonism towards the other characters that're playing with him, often stealing their hard-earned stars or kicking them for the kicks, and then there are moments where he straight-up actively chases down some characters with murderous intent. Fittingly, the goons discuss the Fridge Horror present if Sonic wasn't on our side at one point.invoked
    • While Maria is portrayed as a Parental Substitute for Shadow, she also becomes a Creepy Child who aggressively provokes him into killing her or the soldiers, and it's joked that she's locked in the ARK because she's dangerous.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Of all characters, Z Broly. Instead of a walking engine of violence and murder, he's a walking engine of violence who's friends with #16 and Videl and is more of an excitable Blood Knight than a murderous monster.
    • In a very unorthodox example, "The Silver Campaign" contains an example that uses the exact same dialogue and audio. In the original stream, Gary and Jett improvise a scene where Tails is Driven to Suicide due to Sonic's abuse, who is actively encouraging him to jump. In the edited video, Eisenbrave's animation, mostly through character acting, reframes this as a friendly, if dark, bit between Sonic and Tails where the latter is actually using his plane to intercept him.
  • The Alcoholic: One of the skits in the Team Sonic Raid rematch portrays Omega as an aggressive, heavy drinker with gasoline and diesel fuel. Shadow and Rouge show concern for his wellbeing over it.
  • Almighty Idiot:
    • Dripstinct doesn't remember 16's name, having mistaken him for Broly. Justified, as he sold his frontal lobe to get enough money to buy his drip, which is implied to give power to it's wearer.
    • Mini-Krillin in his debut Raid video has an incredible damage output, but his AI kept him from showing this off until Lythero played around with him and put him in a corner. However, since the Videl Boss Raid, he becomes a lot more aggressive.
  • Always Someone Better: The Shenanigoons thought Shadow was bad enough to be the raid boss, but even his power is miniscule in comparison to Team Sonic. And then came along Team Dark...
  • Ambiguous Situation: It's unclear if Gohan Blanco is just Gohan's alter ego; when Great Saiyaman Gohan offers to fight him, the angle is such that Blanco can't be seen, and the fight that ensues is a Megamind reference in which both Gohans constantly compliment each other while conveniently hiding behind the rooftop's barrier such that only one can be seen at a time]. That said, it's not impossible for them to be separate as there are already multiple Gokus, and at least once has Gohan had to fight himself in the Shadow Raid.
  • Anti-Climax:
    • In Dark Shenanigoons vs. Sonic Heroes, Zyzx_ is absolutely confused as Zamasu and Goku Black-Who-Is-Black fuse into Infinite.
PaperBoxHouse: How ya'll combine and make mid? [cue laughter]
Lythero/Omega: BURN DETECTED_ INFINITE SHOULD FEEL GUILT AND SHAME_
Zyzx_/Goku Black-Who-Is-Black: The sum of their parts are weaker than the total result!
      IHeartJustice: Oh, no, he's not!
    • When Phoenix Wright uses the wrong Super while in Turnabout Mode (Level 1 instead of Level 3) in UMvC3 - Lobby Shenanigans 6 (feat. Maximilian Dood), the audience... did not like that at all.
    • HeavenlyFather as Akuma in Lobby Shenanigans 7 (feat. The Russian Badger) whispers "Raging Demon" to a prone Lee-as-Dante. A jumping kick comes out.
Lythero: [laughter] Your ass was not making a Raging Demon; get out of here!
      TheRussianBadger: Oh my goooood…
  • Armor-Piercing Response: This exchange between Z Broly (who is the night shift fry cook for the Krusty Krab) and Gohan (who is wearing nothing but underwear, gloves, shoes and his Great Saiyaman helmet):
Lythero/Gohan: It's always the fucking staff, but they're not wearing their shirts. How come I have to wear my shirt?
Zyzx_/Broly: For health reasons, I must keep my shirt off, because I might get it dirty from all the grease.
Lythero/Gohan: How the fuck does that work?
Zyzx_/Broly: How the fuck do YOU work?
    Lythero/Gohan: I don't, I'm a bum!
  • Art Shift: Many of the newer videos feature a variety of guest animators to animate certain bits and moments in the playthrough. The newest video as of this writing (Shadow The Hedgehog - The Final Ending) has a whopping 25 guest animators.
  • Atomic F-Bomb: Javi lets out a really loud “WTF” when he got mixed by Marketable Plushie Lythero in their last attempt of the Beast Gohan Raid.
    • Deion fires off one when he got surprised by Lee tanking his Big Bang Attack via Heavy Dynamite Driver in the Three Idiots Rematch.
    • Lee lets out a spirited F Bomb when he dropped the opportunity to rally back against Rhyme in the last fight in the Three Idiots Rematch.
  • Be as Unhelpful as Possible: When Shadow asks for Black Doom to tell him where the last two bombs are, the latter gives the incredibly helpful hints that one is on a building and the other is on the street.
  • Berserk Button: Aside from Goku being one for him, Z Broly doesn't take kindly to people comparing his voice to that of Muscle Man.
    Zyzx_/Broly: ...I-I don't-I don't sound like Muscle Man! YOU D-! [angry Muscle Man-like squealing]
  • Beware the Silly Ones: All over the place, from Mini-Krillin to Mickey Mouse. The one who takes the cake though is Dripstinct, being a Goku who sold his frontal lobe to get some drip, which ended up making him one of the most powerful beings in the series before Team Sonic arrived.
  • Big Bad: Each Raid Boss has a focus character, who effectively acts as this for the video. Examples include Ultra Instinct Goku, Bardock, SSJ4 Gogeta and Cell. There are two Big Bads whose identities are hidden until the final battle, those being Ultra Dripstinct Goku in the Totally Normal Universe 7 Raid, Team Sonic in the Shadow Raid, and Marketable Plushie Psychonugget and Beatbox in the Beast Gohan Raid.
  • Big "NO!": Javi screams out a loud one during the Cell Raid video when he lost as the last man standing, having lost track what side he was on of Cell's Raw Level 3.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Gohan Blanco, obviously, speaks Spanish. While everything he says is subtitled, two of his lines in the intro for the Beast Gohan Raid video are blatantly wrong.
    "Never!"*
    "I work out!"*
    • Starting with that raid, every time Gohan Blanco shows up, Javi's spanish for him is almost always blatantly mistranslated by the subtitles.
As Dante in Lobby Shenanigans 7: "Keeping it stylish!"*
As Vegeta in Three Idiots Rematch: "Oh no! He's doing the voice!"*
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: The two Ultra Dripstincts that accompany Mickey give off this appearance, although their actual positions are unknown besides being below Mickey.
  • Bond One-Liner: Base Goku (as played by Javi) does this in the custom Dramatic Finish against Ultra Dripstinct Goku.
Javi/Goku: Dress for less, you son of a bitch.
  • Booze-Based Buff: In Shadow The Hedgehog - The Final Ending, in order to calm down and navigate Cosmic Fall's rotating platform section, Lythero busts out and downs some liquor to steel himself and "lock in". Unfortunately, he ends up fumbling his attempt and fell to his doom, with Gary as Vector even suggesting that the drink may have impaired his concentration instead of helping him.
Gary!Vector: I don't think those three shots helped you, I think they made you worse, actually!
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Mephiles (played by Gary) in The Silver Campaign explains that he likes to create Pikmin fanfics and that his favorite characters are Louie and Olimar. He sometimes likes to make them kiss, sometimes he likes to make them fight, and sometimes he likes to make them kiss AND fight.
Mephiles/Gary: Sometimes I make them kiss, sometimes I make them fight, sometimes I make them kiss AND fight.
  • Broken Record:
    • "You're going into the moon! You're going into the moon! You're going into the moon! You're going into the moon!"
    • After defeating Cell in his Raid Boss, 16 gets a bug in his firmware. Because of this, he can only say "GGs", "No Ree" and "Your mother", and cycles between three phrases until punched by SSGSS Gogeta. After getting thanked, Gogeta then decides to put him back to his malfunctioning state and punches him again, much to GT Goku's delight.
    • "No justice, no justice, no justice, no justice, no justice, no justice, no justice, no justice-" "NO PAROLE!"
  • Bullying a Dragon: The goons occasionally indulge in this, making fun of enemy and ally alike in the midst of Raid Bosses. This came back to bite them twice, with Cell specifically citing Frieza making fun of him in the previous Boss Raid as a reason why he's going to bully the Shenanigoons, and with the goons' discovery of why Krillin only has 1 health, shoving him into the stage border and making no actual attempt to actually kill him.*
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Videl and Gohan, neither getting any respect from their allies, with 16 outright crashing and having to update his software when asked if he supports Videl.
    • Frieza, despite being one of Lythero's mains, hardly gets any respect whatsoever from anyone. In fact, he's heavily mocked by just about everyone, especially by his brother, Broly, and even Videl.
    • Vegeta (in particular SSJ Vegeta) gets absolutely no respect out of everyone, to the point that he gets mocked by everyone (including Base Goku) and other characters will even remind him of when he got shot during a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors against Fused Zamasu.
    • Lythero suffers this in "Dark Shenanigoons vs. Team Sonic" as he is dropped virtually every time they go up against their first opponent: the marketable Lythero plushie.
    • Goku, partly because Lythero takes great pride in counteracting Goku players so consistently when he's playing Android 16, alongside there being so many variations of Goku in the game, both at launch and added as DLC.
Lythero: I will never stop dunking on Gokus.
  • Butter Face: Due to conflicting mods regarding Frieza's character replacement mod involving Carl Wheezer, Lythero's own character replacement mod has a very odd looking face.
  • Calling Your Attacks:
    • As Lee commonly says when playing 16:
      Lythero/16: HEAVY
    • When Zyzx uses the Evil Containment Wave as Master Roshi:
      Zyzx/Roshi: GET IN THE JAR!
  • Cavalry Betrayal: Inverted. Eggman joins in on Team Dark's dramatic finish of Sonic, but instead of firing his piss beam, the ARK starts falling towards the planet. Omega telling him that they're killing two birds with one stone confirms that Team Dark did something to the ARK to make it Colony Drop Sonic.
  • Chew Bubblegum: Shaggy in "Multiversus - Looney Goons" has an interesting take on the saying:
Shaggy: I'm here to chew ass and kick bubblegum, and my foot fell off.
  • Chunky Salsa Rule: Whenever anybody dies in "Half-Life //Full-Regret," they explode into giblets.
  • Climax Boss: Shadow is so powerful, the "Videl" boss raid is instead given his name. Except he's not actually the final battle of the raid, nor is he the strongest; the real final boss is Team Sonic.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: In the goons' opinion, Goku Black That Is Black and Zamasu fusing into Infinite is a major downgrade, being weaker than the sum of their parts.
  • Colony Drop: Team Dark's finisher at the end of the Team Sonic raid boss rematch is to pull the Space Colony ARK — yes, that one — out of orbit and ram it into Earth. The force of the impact is seemingly enough to blow both bodies to smithereens. On the flip side, Eggman finally got to fuck the Earth, if in a roundabout way.
  • Color-Coded Speech: Everybody in Lee's videos has their subtitles colored a specific color in order to differentiate each other.
    • Lythero: Teal; sometimes he's cyan, shared with Bluto and Andre
    • Zyzx: Pink
    • Javi: Red
    • TopSpin: Pink with cyan outlines
    • Alfred: Orange
    • Lucy: White with pink outlines
    • Bluto: Cyan, shared with Lythero and Andre; sometimes he's blue with red outlines
    • Doovad: Red with white (black in Half-Life //Full-Regret) outlines
    • Tai: White, shared with Mhuyo, Berd, Thomas, and Zanzaken
    • Skeleharpy: Orange and grey gradient with white outlines
    • Dyvone: Dark purple
    • Skullvolver: Cyan with red outlines
    • Amber: Green with pink outlines
    • Max: Yellow
    • BotanicSage: Blue, shared with DNO
    • Marcus: Dark green
    • Pringus: Chartreuse
    • Sho: Silver with gold outlines
    • Harry: Red with blue outlines
    • DNO: Blue, shared with BotanicSage
    • DTee: Green
    • DWedge: Cyan, shared with Lythero and Bluto
    • Dustco: Chartreuse with salmon outlines
    • NormieMcgee: White with blue outlines
    • Quesadilla: Purple, shared with Hannah
    • Mhuyo: White, shared with Tai, Berd, Thomas, and Zanzaken
    • Berd: White, shared with Tai, Mhuyo, Thomas, and Zanzaken
    • Thomas: White, shared with Tai, Mhuyo, Berd, and Zanzaken
    • Zanzaken: White, shared with Tai, Mhuyo, Berd, and Thomas
    • Lilith: Black with white outlines
    • Hannah: Purple, shared with Quesadilla
  • Composite Character:
    • In both of the Zeurel animated segments of the Sonic Raid Bosses, Eggman's appearance is a combination of Modern Eggman's head and SatAM Robotnik's body with the voice and personality of Real Time Fandub's version of the Doctor courtesy of PaperBoxHouse.
    • Shadow is a model swap of Kefla, but since Kefla's intro and outro animations have her unfuse into Kale and Caulifla, it's canon that Shadow is a fusion of the two.
  • Cop Hater: Sonic calls a police officer a pig and leaves him to die, while Shadow (who is currently doing the Good mission) tries to give him a gun to defend himself with. He eventually decides to join Shadow in attacking them when he switches to the Evil mission.
  • Crossover: As the Shenanigoons are good friends with Alfred Coleman (a.k.a. PaperBoxHouse), he usually shows up when they face a Sonic the Hedgehog related conundrum, specifically in reference to his performance as Dr. Eggman.
    • In Lythero's various playthroughs of Shadow the Hedgehog, Alfred is in the call alongside Lee, and voiced a number of characters throughout the game.
    • He appears during the Shadow Raid Boss whenever the goons fight Baby, who is skinned as Eggman, implicitly the same character as the one from Real-Time Fandub from his dialogue referencing his famous piss laser and his wife. While they expected to be done with the raid after they called him in for the first time from the chat, the following fight with Shadow/Kefla proved to be a road block, meaning they called him in so much they just kept him in the call for simplicity.
    • Alfred appears for a majority of the "Team Sonic Rematch" Raid Boss, even joining the Shenanigoons' attempts to fight the enemy as Eggman and Omega. Wanting to get better at DBFZ (as he is, by his own admission, nowhere near as good at the game as the others), the goons imply that they will be training him over time and teaching him how to play the game.
    • The Three Idiots (composed of Rhymestyle/Dino, Seereax/Deion, and DotoDoya) has collaborated with the Shenanigoons twice, with the first video being the first instance the Shenanigoons were officially called such.
    • Maximillian Dood appears in the back half of Lobby Shenanigans 6.
    • Lythero and Gary appear in TheRussianBadger's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 episode, "LORE ACCURATE VERGIL DESTROYS MARVEL FOR $50 AND SOME DRIP", with Gary teaching Badger, who's a newbie to fighting games, how to play. It becomes a Perspective Flip in "Lobby Shenanigans 7."
    • Lee and Gary also appear in Badger's latest Rainbow Six Siege video "MUSTARD BEEF TURNS RAINBOW SIX TO ASH".
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In the Shadow Raid Boss, upon the first time the Shenanigoons meet the Final Boss Team Sonic, they only last 23 seconds, before being annihilated. The Tails on their team didn't even need to land a hit, let alone show up, as it was only Sonic who delivered the curbstomping with Knuckles occasionally assisting. In the re-match, Sonic, all on his own and without even taking damage, outright slaughters the trio in 5 in-game seconds. Conversely, When Team Dark gets the upper hand, Sonic can't even get a single hit in before getting decimated by them in 4 in-game seconds.
    • Alfred's Hulk is on the receiving end of this courtesey of DNO's Rocket Raccoon performing an infinite on him. The rest of the group are left awestruck at how overkill it is.
DNO: I got a little bit carried away. […] Now unfortunately, I have rabies.
    • In "Lobby Shenanigans 7", Lythero hands Heavenly his ass while playing as Phoenix Wright. Not even Vergil, Heavenly's best character, is safe. In the intro, Badger wonders if this is a tool assisted speedrun, Heavenly was beaten that badly. Of course, most of the Badger crew (Badger himself, Herboku, Mickey, Badda, and Digi) don't fare any better.
  • Dark Is Evil: The shadow versions of the fighters in the Universe 7 Boss Raid.
  • Dead All Along: Shadow... apparently. He and Maria used to chase each other around on the ARK and eating explosives. While this taught him how to safely defuse bombs by eating them, he reveals to Knuckles that he was actually dead the whole time when asked about it.
  • Deadpan Snarker: If he's not panicking about an unexpected attack, Lythero is always snarking and deals with just about anything with bemused calm.
  • Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Lythero in all the racing episodes, if he's in first expect him to pull one of these and almost always fail. Even Lampshaded once where he calls it "Pulling a Dick Dastardly".
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: SSB Goku manages to beat the final Dripstinct without switching out once, although once his health is depleted, the custom Dramatic Finish shows Super Broly and Base Goku working with Blue as a team to defeat Dripstinct, with Base Goku being the one to deliver the finishing blow through a diss on Dripstinct's Jordans.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Lythero's main playstyle gravitates towards this trope:
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • After Zamasu tells Vegeta that his supports are all trash, they play a round of Rock–Paper–Scissors to determine which of them goes first. Zamasu then proceeds to shoot Vegeta, killing him before the round even starts and forcing Lythero to switch to Super Broly.
    • Vegeta is okay with killing Bulma, because she doesn't allow him to say Goku's name during sex.
    • Frieza doesn't exactly take the news of Eggman's development career too well. It doesn't bother Eggman in the slightest, as he retaliates by first beaning Frieza with an iPhone 13, and then nuking him with a Nokia.
Eggman: What do you mean?! I made the iMac, I made the iPhone!
Frieza: YOU MADE THE iPHONE!? I'm going to fucking kill you!
    • When Donaldson dies randomly on the intro tram, Jefferson realizes he stepped into the disabled square without being disabled, Gordon explaining that they disable your life for that.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Broly attempts to take on the final boss of the Raid in "Shenanigoons vs Shadow Raid Boss", only to have the boss effortlessly block his advance, then reflect his dashing attack, putting him on the backfoot in less than two seconds. His response is a shockingly reserved "Help" as the boss closes the gap.
  • The Dividual: Despite there being multiple of them, the Dripstincts as a whole are indistinguishable from each other and usually broadly referred to as one person.
  • Defiant to the End: Even when getting shredded to nothing, Ultra Dripstinct Goku yells he will return.
    • Sonic tries to initiate the Level 3 Team Blast despite being 2 men down as a last ditch effort to turn the tides on Team Dark...only for Rouge to cock-slap him and continue on with the Dramatic Finish.
  • Don't Try This at Home: In the commentary for The Sonic Campaign, Zyzx_ tells the audience not to use dollar bills as paper for blunts like Silver does because not only is it illegal to burn money, but the chemicals used in the ink are dangerous to smoke.
  • Double Take: When Gohan is "fighting" Beast Gohan, 16 shrugs to Goku about it. He then takes a moment to realize he just shrugged to Goku.
  • Downer Ending:
    • The Shadow Raid Boss video ends thoroughly with the Shenanigoons suffering the most brutal defeat to Team Sonic yet after Lythero got Zyzx_ killed alongside him by Team Sonic's Team Blast. Though it turns into a "Ray of Hope" Ending as Lythero states if the video gets three million views, they'll work on a second part.
    • The Beast Gohan Raid Boss video ends with the Shenanigoons unable to defeat the Final Boss, Marketable Plushie Lythero, Beatbox, and Psychonugget, the bunny duo constantly curb stomping the three. The final battle of the video in particular ends with the whole trio annihilated by One-Hit-Point Wonder MP Lythero with none of them landing a scratch on him as the trio just decide to call off the stream after such a crushing defeat.
    • The first half of "Shadow The Hedgehog - The Final Ending" has chat's donations causing Lythero to be diverted away from Cosmic Fall (the stage containing the final ending he needs to unlock The Last Way) to instead repeating the Dark mission of Black Comet, which he already did in "The Orange Gamecube". A dejected Lythero laments how he is now forced to replay the game and try again.
Lythero: Thanks, chat! I guess I have to play this shit yet again! That's awesome!
  • The Dreaded:
    • Ultra Instinct Goku, after the first time where it took two videos before he was defeated, ends up returning in the Universe 7 Raid Boss as three Ultra Dripstinct Gokus which considering Lee and the team had difficulty fighting one, one can see why they panicked when they saw who they were up against.
    • Psychonugget and Beatbox in the Beast Gohan Raid quickly become this thanks to being the final bosses of the raid. As they boast high healthbars, the ability to heal from attacking their opponents, plant carrot mines, make incredibly quick dashes that can confuse the Shenanigoons and on top of all that they are small, meaning a lot of their attacks can end up whiffing and they end up getting punished for it.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Properly speaking, the Videl boss raid's final battle is Team Sonic. However, the Shenanigoons got and lost to Shadow more often than they beat him. He was even deemed the raid boss.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Videl is contantly asking for 16 and Z Broly to give her credit and respect, which they always avoid doing. 16 even feigns a software update to avoid giving her credit.
  • Dystopian Detroit: His playthroughs "The Silver Campaign" and "The Final Ending" both feature levels depicting a city wreathed in flames or experiencing mass ruin and destruction, which the Shenanigoons immediately decide is Detroit in both cases.
Lythero!Shadow: (staring at the fiery ruins of a city) Welcome to Detroit.
Zyzx!Sonic: (showing off another city covered in flames and chaos) As you can see, we’re in downtown Detroit! We actually haven’t done anything, it just looks like this.
  • E = MC Hammer: Android 16 uses this during the Cell Raid Boss to throw Cell off.
16: I've got a punchline for you, Cell... What's ten plus nine fingers across the face?
Cell: Umm... [ponders it, then looks genuinely confused] Uh... What?
16: HEAVY. [shoulder rams him immediately]
  • Enemy Mine: Mickey Mouse, despite not seeing eye to eye with Goku Black who's actually black, decides to team up to defeat Sans Undertale, who's taken too much of Disney's profits.
  • Epic Fail:
    • Frieza attempts to bully Mini-Krillin, walking into him and shoving him into the side of the stage while verbally demeaning and insulting him. This is also where the group learns that Mini-Krillin is a Glass Cannon, at Lee's expense, alongside Master Roshi dying immediately afterwards, leaving it down to Bardock to avenge them.
    • Lobby ShenaniganZ 4 has Lythero use Android 16's Last Resort super against Rhum but facing the wrong way. Rhum, however, panicked and immediately uses Hit's Meteor Attack, causing him to go right in front of 16 (as Last Resort makes him briefly invulnerable to grounded attacks) and get caught in the grab, ensuring his own defeat.
    • During the Cell Raid Boss, SSJ Vegeta (Lythero) challenged Zamasu (Zyzx_) to a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who goes first against Cell; Vegeta used Pride and Zamasu shot him, killing him before the fight even started and "forcing" Lee to change to Super Broly.
Iheartjustice/Goku: The stakes are high at Rock, Paper, Scissors DBZ Style. Don't try this at home, chat.
  • Even the Subtitler Is Stumped: More like "The Subtitler Didn't Bother Trying to Decipher". In the Street Fighter 6 portion of the Three Idiots Rematch, Rhymestyle/Dino (as Cammy) got hit by Javi's (as Zangief) Drive Rush-into-Medium Punch oki, and Emerald Demond (Lythero's subtitler) didn’t bother to try and decipher the resulting Angrish.*
Editor's note: I do not get paid enough to figure out what the hell this man is spitting.
Editor's note: Boy is gargling marbles while eating mashed potatoes…
Editor's note: Ooh, hold on, I heard him say "Level 3", I know that one…
    • Even earlier in the same video, the whole mess of a fight involving Xyxz_ and iheartjustice both playing Teen Gohan and referring to themselves as Toehans got so jumbled up due to the two putting up the exact same voice that this message pops instead.
We're not editing or subbing the audio for this shot. I want you to know for just a few seconds how chaotic and messy this entire video was to fucking edit and if you want the full experience, the VOD is linked in the description.
  • Everyone's Baby Sister: In Super Shenanigoons 64, Lythero's wife Amber (aka KrookedGlasses) serves as this for the rest of the team. As the only member of the bunch who has never actually played Super Mario 64 before, Amber is treated with utmost gentleness and patience as she learns how to play the game, which starkly contrasts how aggressively the others treat each other. Notably, everyone backtracks to Bob-omb Battlefield to back Amber up as she fights King Bob-omb, Lucy puts aside her more violent tendencies to personally teach Amber how to do a Long Jump in Hazy Maze Cave, and the whole group teams up to hunt down Klepto in Shifting Sand Land after he steals Amber's cap.
  • Evil Gloating: During the Totally Normal Universe 7 Raid Boss, Dripstinct states that he, through the forces of debt, consumerism and materialism, weaponizes the true evils of Capitalism and Society.
  • Eye Glasses: Most depictions of Lythero's persona as drawn by artists depict his glasses performing blinking motions or emote like eyebrows, with TopSpinTheFuzzy's portrayal of Lythero being one such example.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Mini-Krillin's shading is darker than other characters, described as "One Punch Man shading". It's a completely accurate description, since he can indeed instantly KO people in one hit.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: Eggman (Zyzx_) at the end of "Left 4 Goons" dramatically cries out for Bow Girl (Bluto) who was left behind... Only for Leon (Lucy) to immediately ruin the moment by commenting on how nice the leg room is in the helicopter, causing Lythero/Deadpool to crack up.
  • Fantastic Racism: 16’s (And by extension his player, Lee’s) distaste for Goku causes him to irrationally label many characters who are only tangentially related to him as “A Goku”. This includes fighters who happen to share Goku’s character design (Goku Black and Bardock) or Fusions that have Goku or another character he sees as a Goku as a component (Vegito, both versions of Gogeta, Merged Zamasu, and Gotenks.) This is illustrated by Lee’s “Dunk” merchandise.
    • To a lesser extent this extends to a few of Lee’s other choices of characters, Frieza and Vegeta, who also have antagonistic attitudes towards Goku and anyone who Lee would classify as a Goku.
  • Fallen Hero: Ultra Dripstinct Goku's mad quest for drip gave him incredible power, but he's the biggest Jerkass out of all the stream voices.
  • Finishing Move: The custom versions of the Dramatic Finishes are painted this way; being the current team laying the hurt down on the raid boss they beat. For simplicities sake, Shoyoumomo, the animator for these parts decided to make a full compilation of every Dramatic Finish he made. And if that's not enough, here's a full list of them explained;
    • SSGSS Gogeta gets sandwiched by Great Saiyamans Boxer Beam Barrage and #16's Giant Overcompensating Beam Attack.
    • Cell gets blasted through a rock wall into several buildings in West City.
    • The Goons themselves getting Team-Blasted by Team Sonic.
    • Dripstinct gets disintegrated by Goku, his SSGSS counterpart, and Super Broly's combined Kamehamehas. And also a diss on his Jordans.
    • Sonic getting demolished by the Space Colony ARK getting hurled into Earth by Team Dark.
  • Foil: Naturally, the Brolies are this to each other. Z Broly is Gary's main and speaks in a gruff voice with much aggression, while Super Broly is one of Lee's pocket characters and initially was unable to speak, but after the Cell Raid Boss began speaking in a gentlemanly voice.
  • Foreshadowing: Before starting the Beast Gohan raid, the Goons mess around with emotes of Beatbox and Psychonugget. When asked whether Beatbox is in the game, Lythero responds with "Don't be ridiculous," which the editted video punctuates with an unusually nervous Android 16.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: When the Shenanigoons fight against Adobe Premiere, Audacity, and VoiceMod in the Beast Gohan raid, an Audacity window can be seen as a file with a very long name is saved. Going through the video frame by frame reveals the file is titled "YOU DID IT, YOU SAVE THE RECORDING... NOW LYTHERO WON'T LOSE WEEKS OF SLEEP OVER TRYING TO REDO LINES IN BACKUP RECORDING EDITS.mp3".
  • Full-Name Basis: Whenever the skin mod that gives him a black skintone is active, Goku Black is almost always referred to as "Goku Black who's actually black." He's also rarely called "Goku Black who's black."
  • Game-Breaker: Played for Laughs. Some of the games played will often feature Lee exploiting broken characters or bugs.invoked
    • In Super Shenanigoons 64, Lythero plays Sonic, with Sonic's speed and various additional abilities making most of the game a cakewalk (save for precision platforming segments that Sonic has a hard time landing or stopping on), with him using those advantages to troll his friends by the time they hit Star Road, such as stealing a 100 Coin star they were about to obtain, and then quickly escaping, with the Shenanigoons giving up when they realize how pointless it is to chase Sonic.
Lucy: Why do we even try when Sonic the Hedgehog exists?
    • In UMvC3 - Lobby Shenanigans 7, Lythero decides to let Badger choose the 3 characters he fights with. He decides to let him use Chun-Li, Spider-Man... and Vergil.note  Lythero immediately starts to cackle. To quote Heavenly:
HeavenlyFather: You gave him dirt, water, and a .44 magnum.
    • The Silver Campaign features Lee abusing certain bugs in Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 to avoid having to play some of the levels the intended way, such as Omega's gliding being turned into makeshift flight that allows him to skip most of Wave Ocean (albeit it takes him multiple tries due to making mistakes in what level geometry is actually able to be landed on), or using Silver's telekinesis to phase through certain walls or obtain ridiculous height.
  • Game Mod:
    • The Shenanigoons often use mods in Lobby Shenaniganz to change models and voice clips. This eventually leaked into the boss raids, which, as of the Universe 7 boss raid, have been entirely custom-made, with the Shadow and Team Sonic boss raids even throwing in model swaps and name changes in the latter.
    • The Beast Gohan Raid Boss entirely focuses on mods, at first revolving around inside jokes for the Shenanigoons and even having the Shenanigoons themselves use custom skins for them, then featuring custom mod characters Super Saiyan God Goku, Raditz, and the titular Beast Gohan, before finally having custom Marketable Plushie versions of Beatbox and Psychonugget fighting alongside Marketable Plushie Lythero for the Final Boss.
  • Gameplay and Story Integration: After Vegeta loses his Rock Paper Scissors match with Zamasu and gets shot, SSJ Vegeta was cut from the roster and deemed dead.
  • Gender Bender: When the female Cale and Caulifla fuse, they become the male Shadow.
  • Glass Cannon: Mini-Krillin. He only has one hit point, and he hits you like you only have one hit point. Lythero specifically refers to him as a Glass Nuke in the Shadow Raid Boss video. Because he's a reskin of Mini-Krillin, so is Marketable Plushie Lythero.
  • Groin Attack: Due to the mod shrinking Labcoat 21 to match Rouge's height, L. 21's 5LLL grab makes it look like Rouge grabs male opponents by the cock and slap them two times, which is quickly dubbed "stealing their cock".
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: Shadow kept restarting Air Fleet thanks to how the Evil mission worked; you have to destroy the President's aircraft before he can escape, and the mission can be failed if you don't deal enough damage by the end of the level where the President escapes. Since Shadow has to do the mission of his current alignment as decided by the chat, the chat kept straddling between Good during the proper level and Evil at the last part, meaning Shadow couldn't damage the President's aircraft enough to win the Evil mission before resetting when the mission goes Evil.
  • Halloween Episode: For Halloween, *Lythero and Zyzx_ played a few heavily modded campaigns of Left 4 Dead 2 with their friends Bluto and Lucy.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Invoked in his streams of Shadow the Hedgehog, where the Twitch chat can donate money to dictate which route Lee has to take in levels, and chat can throw quite a donation fight.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After being defeated by the Shenanigoons enough, Eggman joins them in their attempts to get back at Team Sonic, acting as Alfred's character. Shadow also participates in the finale against Team Sonic.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In MR - Marvel Rivals Shenanigans, Lee as Spider-Man manages to snuff out an enemy Magneto's Meteor M Ultimate by web-swinging into it as Magneto threw it, saving the Jeff, Luna and Harry as Venom on his team.
  • Hidden Depths: Super Broly is quite eloquent once he can speak and even seems to be a definitive Nice Guy, being almost reluctant to use the word "yeet" at one point.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Frieza ends up re-enacting his defeat on Namek during Lobby Shenaniganz 4, getting finished off by his own Death Saucer.
    • In "Lobby Shenanigans 7," Lythero tells Silver that if the video gets 2 million views by November 14, 2023, he'll complete the Silver campaign. Even with his video getting age restricted, it just made the deadline.
  • Holding Both Sides of the Conversation: When confronted by Beast Gohan in the intro, the one who offers to fight him is... Great Saiyaman. AKA Gohan in a goofy superhero outfit. Cue Megamind reference as the "two" fight out of sight from atop a tall building.
    Saiyaman: His strength... too much!
Gohan: [in Spanish] I work out!note
Saiyaman: Well, it's really paying off! You're so fit... and strangely charismatic!
  • Hulking Out: Mickey Mouse is rather small most of the time, but once he activates Berserk (being a skin of Super Broly), he becomes much taller and more muscular.
  • Hypocrite: Frieza being indignant about Videl being casually racist towards him and Cooler is very much pot calling the kettle black, considering being a genocidal racist is one of his most notable character traits.
  • I Banged Your Mom: GT Goku has this as his primary character trait.
    • The G-Man says this of the group at the end of "Half-Life //Full-Regret", causing a moment of Stunned Silence followed by the group literally exploding.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Assuming Zamasu's Peanut Butter and Ningen sandwich is named honestly, then that would mean he eats mortals. He even offers one to Super Broly. While he rejects eating it, Goku accepts the sandwich instead, and chokes on it to the point of almost breaking the game.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Jefferson boasts he knows what he's doing in the Anti-Mass Spectrometer, but then immediately dies while jumping about the chamber.
  • Improbable Infant Survival: A Watermelon Steven keeps getting hit by Tom, but he somehow manages to tech every hit when it should kill. *
  • Ironic Echo: In Lobby Shenaniganz 5, a fight between Cooler (played by Zyzx_) and a Sonic-modded SS2 Gohan has the former declare he was going to make Sonic "Live and Learn… [his] fucking lesson!". In the very first battle with Team Sonic, Zyzx_ declares that they are gonna do the same to the Shenanigoons.
  • I Will Show You X!: "I'LL SHOW YOU SUPREME!"
  • Jumpscare: "Faker" Shadow in the Team Sonic Boss Raid is a model swap of SSJ Vegeta, and since his intro animation has him flash into Super Saiyan, Vegeta's silhouette briefly appears in "Faker" Shadow's intro, with the edited video adding in a snippet of the piano of Vegeta's theme whenever it happens. Gary commentated this being the "Vegeta Jumpscare".
  • Killer Rabbit: Marketable Plushie Lythero is a cute, cartoony version of Lythero with only 1 HP and one-hit-KO attacks. In a very literal example, Marketable Plushie Beatbox and Marketable Plushie Psychonugget debut as two of the final opponents in the DBFZ - Beast Gohan Raid Boss video, and quickly prove themselves to be as powerful as Team Sonic.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Marvel Rivals Shenanigans sees Spider-Man steal Deadpool's sponsor and leave the merc behind by jumping through a portal into Rivals... directly into the line of sight of the Winter Soldier waiting nearby to ambush someone.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: The raid following the Shadow fight is the Team Sonic Rematch, revealing that the Shenanigoons fought and lost against Team Sonic in the previous raid.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Lythero deliberately invokes this whenever an enemy during a raid boss event proves to be more difficult than initially anticipated, forcing him to break character in the process. For instance, after Videl gets hit by a raw super during the Universe 7 Raid Boss, resulting in her death:
Lythero: [normal voice] Okay, stance up, Gary! We gotta-we gotta clutch this!
Zyzx_/Broly: Oh, oh, gamer lean? You got it!
  • Lightning Bruiser: Shadow The Hedgehog and the Sonic Heroes in the Shadow raid. The former is a lone fighter with 50 thousand HP (later nerfed to 25K), the latter is a team of three with 25K HP each, all of them are level 100, and all of them hit as hard as Mini-Krillin, to the point that the difference between base HP and max-level HP and Defense boosts is whether the players will die in one hit or one combo.
  • Loads and Loads of Loading: Sonic '06, natch. There was so much loading, Lee dared himself to play through all of the Hero story in Sonic Adventure 2 during the loading screens and succeeded. This is briefly justified in-story as Silver going too far back in time and accidentally ending up in SA2, since Sonic's model there was replaced with Silver.
  • MacGuffin: The eponymous Orange GameCube in "Shadow the Hedgehog - The Orange GameCube" becomes a plot point just over halfway through the video when the G.U.N. Commander informs the President that they just got five more GameCubes, only for the President to brush them off for not having any orange GameCube. The President orders one online during the events of Air Field as he makes his escape, which then ends up in Sonic and Diablon's hands. Shadow, on the other hand, just wants to ensure that the President doesn't have the Orange GameCube, although his sudden regret of destroying the GameCube alongside Diablon implies otherwise.
  • Man in the Machine: In "DBFZ - Dark Shenanigoonz vs Sonic Heroes", Metal Sonic is characterized as being Frieza after Eggman built a Sonic-shaped robotic casing around him, following by overriding Frieza's personality to make him a servile robot.
  • Meaningful Rename: The Sonic Heroes Rematch raid adds extra mods to change character names to reflect the character being portrayed, such as "Krillin?" over Marketable Plushie Lythero Krillin, but there are also names that simply reflect running gags, such as "Brian" over Bardock.
  • Mirror Match:
    • One of the fights in the Universe 7 Raid Boss is against the usual team composition (Android 16, Z Broly and Videl). This is averted after the first two fights against them, as the team doesn't use the party anymore.
    • The final battle of the Universe 7 Raid Boss ends up being this, partially, as the fight is between two Gokus (one SSGSS, the other Base) alongside Super Broly against three Dripstincts.
  • Money Fetish:
    • Implicitly on Mickey's part, who angrily tells Shaggy to get away from his wallet and teams up with Goku Black who's actually black to stop Sans from stealing Disney's money.
    • Mr. Krabs, as in canon, really likes money. He chooses the green plunger almost every time, because it's the color of money. One time Sonic picks green before him, Krabs chooses yellow, since this is how coins are colored.
  • Mood-Swinger: Shadow is this in Lythero's playthough of Shadow the Hedgehog, due to the chat being able to donate to switch if Lee will go through the level's Hero or Evil path. Eggman justifies this, saying that it's a means to diffuse Shadow's power as the ultimate lifeform, while also stating that his cells are like a Twitch Chat constantly voting for him to be good or evil.
  • Mysterious Disembodied Voice: At one point in Lythero's video on Lethal Company, while he's looking through Sigure's logs, Skullvolver decides to play this trope for a gag — acting as "the Flying Dutchman of your S.S. Soyjaknote " to warn Lythero that he's becoming super cursed from reading the game's lore.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: Of the three main Shenanigoons, Javi is the nice, being the calmest of the trio and rarely raising his voice, Lee is the mean, being the most prone to causing mischief and having a Deadpan Snarker attitude, and Gary is the in-between, being goofy and bombastic while also at times being Hot-Blooded and competitive.
  • Non-Indicative Name:
    • Inverted with Goku Black in the Lobby Shenaniganz series and the "Videl" Raid Boss, as the trio use a skin mod that makes Goku Black dark-skinned. In this form, he's referred to almost exclusively as "Goku Black who's actually black."
    • The "Videl" Raid Boss, in which Videl is only fought in the second fight of the raid. The rest are against Sonic the Hedgehog characters. And Mini-Krillin. The official edited release goes for a more precise point, calling it the Shadow Raid Boss, and even then, it's still non-indictive as the Final Boss of the raid isn't Shadow, but rather Team Sonic.
    • Discussed in the Cell Raid Boss, as when separated from the context of Pokémon, "Nuzlocke" doesn't exactly make sense, as part of it's name is derived from Nuzleaf. The trio decides to instead call it the Z-Locke.
    • The "Beast Gohan" Raid Boss video has the titual Beast Gohan fought in the semi-final round. The raid battles in general revolve around various mods based on several in-jokes of the Shenanigoons along with several unique mods in general (Super Saiyan God Goku, Raditz, and of course Beast Gohan), with the Final Boss of the raid being Marketable Plushie Lythero, Beatbox, and Psychonugget.
    • The Silver Campaign video, which was advertised and titled as such, is a playthrough of the entirety of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). This wasn't initially the plan, it's just that Lythero needed to play through at least part of the rest of the game to unlock Silver's story, as he didn't have the existing save data for it... And then the stream chat basically demanded that he play the rest of the game anyway via donations.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Raiden in the "Beast Gohan" Raid Boss doesn't have the cell-shading that other characters in the game have, instead he has the more realistic textures he had in his own game, making him look very out of place during gameplay. The trio lampshade it, while also agreeing that the effect is very cool, comparing it to the Spider-Verse films.
  • N-Word Privileges:
    • Referenced with Zamasu and Goku Black treating Ningen as the N Word in this instance, at one point specifying it's use as a derogatory.
    • As Lee does not have them, but regular cast member Gary does, all usages of the actual word are subtitled as "friend".
    • Shadow Friezanote  in the Universe 7 Boss Raid claims to have these, causing the Shenanigoons to panic and try to defeat him before he can say it.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Gary/Z Broly freaks out upon seeing one of the "Shadow Friezas" of the modded Universe 7 raid boss and immediately tag out... Getting Lythero killed. He then does the same thing with Javi/Videl, getting her killed immediately as well.
    • The Shenanigoons collectively freak out at seeing three Ultra Instinct Gokus as the final boss of the "joke" modded Universe 7 raid boss.
TMM_Zyzx/Broly: WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!
      Iheartjustice/Videl: Ayo!?
Lythero/Android 16: [pants in panic, and then breaks down crying]
TMM_Zyzx/Broly: Yeah we're dead. (…) [when it turns out their opponents are three Ultra Dripstincts] Oh no. Oh no.
    • Later they try to bully the tiny Krillin. And then Krillin suddenly one-shots Freeza and Roshi, provoking this reaction.
    • In general, whenever an assist or switch-in launches them right into a Meteor Attack.
    • iDrop spends the first chunk of Lobby ShenaniganZ 4 tryharding with GT Goku. After getting sick of it, Lee and Gary proceed to switch to Android 16 and Z Broly. iDrop understandably panics, especially after being pressured into sticking to GT Goku when he tried running to Videl. Cue Curb-Stomp Battle.
    • Eggman starts breaking down in fear when his Space Colony ARK/Eggdick is being redirected straight towards Earth during Team Darks Dramatic Finish on Sonic. Looks like he got to fuck the Earth after all.
    • Max Dood reacts with fear seeing DNO’s Haggar wavedashing to him.
    • Gary reacts rather understandably when a Spider lunges out of a grate and lands on the bug he was smacking with: scream his head off while running away back to the entrance. Lee and Pringus react their own way when they see the Spider on Gary's ass.
  • Oireland: Downplayed. Lee is Irish, and while this is only infrequently highlighted, he's often seen drinking alcohol in his streams and videos.
  • Once per Episode: During a majority of the sponsor segments, when the Shenanigoon who's the designated strawman is about to be Instantly Proven Wrong, Gary slaps them into the third dimension.
  • OOC Is Serious Business: While the Shenanigoons playfully joke around whenever Shadow's shifting moral alignment help or hinder Lythero's playthrough, Alfred, TopSpin, and Hannah become unusually desperate when Shadow turns evil in the Lost Impact level during Shadow The Hedgehog - The Final Ending, urging Lythero to make a break for the Goal Ring to complete the neutral mission and move on to Cosmic Fall, not wanting him to get screwed over and miss the target ending again.
  • Power Echoes: In "Lobby Shenanigans 7," Heavenly asks what 8th Lord means in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Lythero says that's his rank on Steam. On Xbox 360, his true rank is COSMIC LORD.note
Gary: [as Joe] YOU'RE GONNA DIE!
Javi: [as Dante] Keeping it Stylish!note
  • Real Men Wear Pink: The trio uses pink alts most of the time, although exceptions apply, such as Frieza for Lee. Gary says he outright feels naked when he fails to turn to Z Broly's pink alt.
    • Gary almost always wears the Kirby suit mod in Lethal Company during the Lethal Goonery video.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning:
    • Matt in Lobby Shenanigans 6.
    • Quite a few fights in the Universe 7 Boss raid have the opponents use skins with red eyes, but standout is the fight against Videl, Android 16, and Broly, which sees the gang fight shadowy version of the fighters with blood-red eyes.
  • Romantic Fusion:
    • Goku Black boasts to Frieza that he's superior to the emperor's race car bed because he fuses with his husband every night. Frieza is taken aback by this.
    • Shadow is the fusion of Kale and Caulifla; it's explicitly stated very often that being a fusion of two lesbians grants him immense power.
  • Rule of Three: Cell slams Gary/Fused Zamasu with three Solar Kamehamehas, each getting more personal than the last.
  • Running Gag:
    • Sponsorships and segues leading into them are rather common, even long after the ad would have played.
    • Zyzx plugging his Twitch stream links at least Once per Episode whenever he pops up.
    • In the "joke" Raid Bosses, a tiny Krillin with only 1 health that deals enough damage to instantly kill most opponents appears as the first enemy, although in the Universe 7 Raid Boss he's accompanied by Tien. In his appearance in the Team Sonic Rematch, his model has been switched with a marketable plushie of Lythero.
    • Goku Black that is Actually Black.
    • Ultra Dripstinct Goku is a recurring character in the Lobby Shenaniganz series, an Ultra Instinct Goku wearing invokedthe drip while also permanently holding his hands together in front of his crotch. He makes his Raid Boss debut in the Universe 7 Raid Boss... through a final battle against 3 of them.
    • Somehow, in Lobby Shenaniganz 6, Mickey keeps getting killed before his Dripstinct minions, who use the Dragon Balls to revive him each time.
    • Devastatingly strong hits are often exaggerated using the sound of the Frying Pan from Left 4 Dead 2. It has been expanded to various cartoon sound effects.
    • The No-Penis Club, comprised of Frieza, Cooler, and Videl most commonly, although Kefla is also part of it when she's used.
    • Cell has his own involving his win screen (which has him clench his hand at the start).
Cell: Ah, the reoccurring joke. This is the hand I masturbate with!
    • Whenever someone summons Shenron for a wish, usually to revive a fallen teammate, the person making the wish will more often than not jokingly contemplate using the wish for power or immortality instead.
    • If Videl gets a win with the Gohan in Underwear mod, expect to hear a Neck Snap sound when Boxer Shorts-wearing Great Saiyaman shows up.*
    • Bardock is often referred to as "Brian" in an attempt to stop Goku from realizing who he is by Frieza. He eventually figures it out anyway, but the nickname is still occasionally used by the Shenanigoons. According to Bardock when nearly called by his actual name then “Brian” by Frieza, Brian is his name.
    • Animations made by SouljenX7 feature Javi speaking Spanish that don't match the subtitles.
    • Lythero's intent to play through the Silver Campaign but never actually getting around to it. Eventually, he did finally play through Silver's campaign and the rest of Sonic '06 to boot in response to Lobby Shenanigans 7 reaching the view milestone he placed.
  • Schmuck Bait:
    • Practically a Running Gag for Lee's Android 16.
Lee: Don't jump. [immediately does a Gliding Powerbomb] Oh, I told you, don't jump.
    • During UMvC3 Lobby Shenanigans 7, Lee demonstrates taunting to RussianBadger, telling him that "you are totally defenseless when you taunt". When Spencer runs up to Lee's taunting Dante, Lythero finishes his sentence as he demonstrates the exception: "unless you cancel it with a Team Hyper".
Badger: [as his Taskmaster gets KOed by Lee's attack] "Unless you do this one thing! That eliminates all of your health!"
    • During Sonic's fight with Silver in "The Silver Campaign" and after managing to get out of bounds as Sonic and messing around, Lee went back to the fight area and saw Silver desperately trying to get to Sonic before Silver resorts to baiting Sonic with rings (dynamite bent and painted to look like rings) which brought Sonic within grabbing range of Silver's ESP and promptly flung into space.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Invoked. While Lee always intended to do the Silver campaign of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), upon seeing that the player must unlock Silver's campaign, he decides to impose a Hypetrain goal in exchange for just playing the entire game, leading into the video's Non-Indicative Name when chat inevitably reached the goal before he even started the intro cutscene.
    • Also in the same video, he also attempts to finish Sonic Adventure 2's Hero story while '06 goes through one of its infamous loading screens. And, indeed, there were enough of them that he did finish the campaign in time.
  • Sincerity Mode: The ending of the "normal" Universe 7 boss raid had many commentators note just how awesome the conclusion and IHeartJustice's performance was. Judging by Lee and Gary's comments right after it is anything to go by that feeling is mutual.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Zyzx and Lucy play this role to each other, with them constantly doing things that'll get under each other's skin. Zyzx often likes to slander Lucy's name when around her, while Lucy causes suffering for him in the games they play.
  • Sound-Effect Bleep: Depending on the video being clipped, Lythero's out-of-context videos have swear words censored with both an audio and visual effect.
  • The Stoner: Double Subverted with Silver. When running through White Forest, Zyzx!Silver announces that he loves green things, while Spin!Silver directly segues it into weed, with Zyzx stating afterwards that he was trying to avoid the obvious joke but that he'd go along with it anyway if Spin prompted it. He elaborates that he was referring to dollar bills, but a discussion with Shadow reveals that he uses the money as rolling papers for his weed, since there's nobody around in the future to buy from.
  • Stylistic Suck:
    • Low-poly Goku and Vegeta voices are very compressed and their subtitles deliberately look like they've been enlarged from a low quality source.
    • The compressed textures of each players' avatars in SM64 - Super Shenanigoons 64 are replicated in the reaction art drawn by KrookedGlasses.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Initially, Super Broly only speaks in mindless monkey-like grunts or screams. During the Cell Raid Boss, however, Cell teaches him a means to clear out his throat, and Broly begins to actually speak. As it turns out, he had a peanut butter sandwich stuck in there the whole time. This sticks, as from here on Super Broly is a soft-spoken, gentlemanly character. This also applies to everybody in general in DBFZ, as characters are usually silent outside of certain events and attacks, but here the characters talk to each other very often.
  • Take That!: Lythero and the goons (alongside whoever else they have) banter a lot and are also very snarky, which tends to have them throwing shade at things they don't like.
    • When Infinite appears in the Dark Shenanigoons vs. Sonic Heroes, PaperBoxHouse does not pull any punches.
PaperBoxHouse: How ya'll gonna combine and make mid?
    • The goons regularly make fun of Gohan and Vegeta almost every time they make an appearance. When either playing as themnote  or they appear as opponents.
    • Whenever Chaos 0 appears as a mod for Kid Buu, expect comments thrown at Dasani's way.
    • During UMVC3 Lobby Shenanigans 7, the animation where Vergil has to fight an invisible Chun Li has Lythero (as Vergil) desperately ask for her location as he looks at a phone. When "mid" is called, pictures of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Sonic Superstars quickly scroll past the phone's screen.
    • When the goons visit Rainbow Ride in SM64 - Super Shenanigoons 64, the animation where Zyzx_ suddenly interrupts his performance of "A Whole New World" interprets his panic as him seeing a Dasani factory and immediately going to destroy it.
  • A Taste of Their Own Medicine: In "Mario Kartastrophe 7", Tak joins the discord voice chat, says "By Odin's Beard", uses Lightning on everyone and leaves. Later, in "SRB2Kartastrophe", Lee returns the favor by using Thunder Shield against him while saying the exact same words, prompting Tak to leave the game.
  • Team Killer: In FighterZ, this often happens on accident and/or out of fear by Lee and the gang, with Gary being the usual victim, such as during the rematch against SSJ4 Gogeta having Javi (as Base Goku) accidentally tag in a recently revived Gary (as Gogeta Blue) at the same time as SSJ4 Gogeta is about to use Ultra Big Bang Kamehameha, killing Gary again.
    • It happens again in the Cell raid boss with, again, Javi as Base Goku tagging in Gary (this time as Merged Zamasu) when Cell is about to fire Solar Kamehameha. Unlike last time though, Gary survives.
    • In the final battle of the Shadow Raid Boss video, Lee as Android 16 accidentally ends up getting Gary as Goku Black who's actually black killed as he's fighting Team Sonic, as a split second of the tag-in is all Tails needed to both murder Gary and finish off Lee and the Shenanigoons with a Level 3 Team Blast.
    • Freeman (Zyzx_) and Jefferson (Lythero) engage in this regularly in Half Life: Full Regrets, often involving either shotguns or high explosives.
    • Everywhere in Lethal Goonery, ranging from Lee and crew getting people killed by accident to griefing with the lobby by putting on the mask.
  • Team Pet: Beatbox and Psychonugget, two pet bunnies that Lythero owns that are featured prominently in various sponsorship segments (usually being the reason Lee needs said sponsorship). The two are featured as the Final Boss of the Beast Gohan Raid Boss alongside Marketable Plushie Lythero, being the biggest challenge the Shenanigoons have faced and one of the few raid bosses the Goons aren't able to defeat in the initial video.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Happens a lot in the Boss Raid episodes but most obviously in the "vs. SSJ4 Gogeta" Boss Raid. Usually followed by Gogeta beating one of the team in mere seconds.
    • Also of note from the Boss Raids is the "normal" Universe 7 Raid, in which Frieza bullies Krillin and pushes him into the side of the stage... only to get killed in a single hit.
    • In "Shadow the Hedgehog: Search for Yet Another Ending," Lee and Alfred both come to the conclusion after completing Westopolis that Twitch Chat's used up most of their money in the first half, believing that they'll be set for the Neutral path. Cue a $500 donation for Evil.
  • Theme Song Power Up:
    • Completely averted in Lobby Shenanigans 4. Lee activates Android 16's Self-Destruct Super while Rhum, as Hit, is behind him. Rhum prepares to perform Hit's Super as Fist Bump starts playing... only for Hit's rush to not strike 16 and instead dash past him and into 16's grab animation allowing Lee to defeat Rhum.
    • Once Base Goku activates the Dragon Balls to revive Blue, the music changes from the Ultra Instinct theme to a high-quality rip of Tables Turn mixed with Space Jam and the fight appropriately turns in the Shenanigoons' favor.
    • Team Sonic get one in the Shadow Raid Boss, with "What I'm Made Of" and "His World" playing as they proceed to wipe the floor with the Shenanigoons. In the final fight of the rematch, the Dark Shenanigoons are backed by an arrangement of "What I'm Made Of" that smoothly transitions into "This Machine", Team Dark's theme from Sonic Heroes, for their Dramatic Finish.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Averted in the Silver Campaign, where Eggman is totally fine with Mephiles killing Sonic. Shadow points out this trope and that he should be embarrassed he never got to kill him, but Eggman shrugs it off and considers it a dub anyway.
  • There's No Kill like Overkill: During the Universe 7 Raid, Bardock unleashes his Revenge Assault Meteor Attack on Mini-Krillin after the latter kills Frieza and Master Roshi in one hit each during round start.
  • Troll: Lythero in all competitive videos. From curbstomping his friends with Android 16 (while announcing that he will do so, while also telling them that they shouldn't press buttons) to going out of his way to torment others in the racing videos. This reaches all new heights in "Half-Life //Full Regret" where he sheds his Only Sane Man role and becomes completely unhinged.
  • Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny: During the Shadow Raid Boss, the Shenanigoons play up Base Goku vs Robotnik as this, complete with a Shout-Out to DEATH BATTLE! courtesy of Zyzx_/Goku Black who's actually black.
  • Unusual Euphemism: In The Search for yet Another Ending, Shadow tries to tell off Charmy from reading a book about Cock and Ball Torture by telling him he's not reached "that volume" of the "How To Lose Your Twitch Partnership 101" series and he'd rather Charmy stop dropping the book's "spoilers" all around.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Almost. Zamasu offers Super Broly and Base Goku a peanut butter and ningen sandwich, but while Broly actively chooses against eating it, Goku goes ahead with it. The game then proceeded to break after Goku starts choking on it, but after a moment of confusion, it turns out everybody's still in the game, whilst also having healed to full health. They then got almost destroyed by Cell in the following fight, Goku barely surviving for the win, only to lose in the final round.
  • Valley Girl: Android 21 (Lab Coat) is depicted this way by Lee, and briefly puts this on Majin Android 21.
  • [Verb] This!: More like "Noun This", but this line is delivered by Eggman before he nukes Frieza with the Nokia:
    Frieza: I can go golden!
    Eggman: Gold this!
  • Violent Glaswegian: Lucy is from Scotland, complete with a thick accent, and tends to be the most troublemaking of Lee's friends, often playing the role of a Griefer.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Lee has this dynamic with Lucy, as despite them being friends, they often like to screw each other over in games as much as they possibly can, in addition to them being Irish and Scottish respectively and their countries' infamous rivalry.
  • Vocal Dissonance:
  • Warm-Up Boss: Discussed in Super Shenanigoons 64. Amber has never played Super Mario 64 in her life, and the others have already made substantial progress in the game. To get her up to speed on how to play the game, everyone backtracks to Bob-omb Battlefield while Lythero instructs Amber to defeat King Bob-omb as her "training", reasoning that if she can climb the mountain and beat him, then that means she’s already learned the basic controls.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: Discussed when they beat the Ultra Instinct Goku raid boss: their reward for beating it is 50 thousand Zeni, which sounds fine enough, except that the game had recently given away five million Zeni after selling five million copies.
  • Weird Crossover: From Lobby Shenanigans 5 of Dragon Ball FighterZ onwards, the game was modified to include quite a few characters across many different media, with a dosage of Crack Fic due to the modelswap nature of modding and how the characters are portrayed. Characters include Marge as Broly; Spongebob, Patrick, Squidward, and Doodlebob as Kid Buu, Majin Buu, Picolo, and Nappa; Mickey Mouse as DBS Broly; Carl Weaser as Frieza; and so on and so forth...
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Bluto turns out to be a genuine arachnophobe, and boogied out unseen when he encountered the Bunker Spider. In the original VOD, he goes on to mention it's the legs of a spider that sets off his arachnophobia, so not even the Arachnophobia Mode mod will help Bluto.
Bluto: Did you guys know I'm deathly afraid of spiders?
  • Wild Card: Dripstinct is neither good nor bad, but simply dripped out of his mind.
  • Willfully Weak: As Lythero explains the gimmick for the Rematch Raid against SSJ4 Gogeta, where Goku allows his enemies to grow to full power, the Shenanigoons do the opposite of that by restraining their power as much as they can, by purposefully not using skills to boost their stats (beyond Victory Zeni Up, which has no effect on actual matches.) It didn't go well for them, being unable to get past the 5th fight.
    • For the Cell Raid video, they introduced the Z-Locke, which not only asks for the players not to use any skills (although gradually adding more and more levels each time they lose) but also to only use each character once, losing them for the rest of the Raid Boss if they lose. To this end, they shed these rules in the Universe 7 Raid Boss once it becomes clear something is wrong with it, immediately going back in with the same team and level 6 skills.
    • In a Freeze-Frame Bonus in the edited Beast Gohan Raid Boss video (And a bit more noticeable in the unedited stream), one can see that Lythero set his skill from a level 6 strength skill to a level 1 for the Final Boss. This was possibly to ensure the group wouldn't manage to steamroll through the final trio, Marketable Plushie Lythero and especially Marketable Plushies Beatbox and Psychonugget. But considering how deadly the trio prove to be, even after he actually put the level 6 strength buff on in later attempts to the point the Shenanigoons have no chance to win, it wouldn't have mattered much.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Shadow confesses in one match he would be fine with beating the shit out of a baby, before going after Baby Mario* and beating the baby senseless. This turns out to be a mistake on Shadow's end, as Baby Mario is surprisingly good at pulling off string combos and even Dragon Rushes him.
    • The Shenanigoonz are perfectly okay with trying to fight Team Sonic, composed of Knuckles and Sonic, who are 16, and Tails, who is 8. Team Dark also doesn't have any qualms with punching Knuckles into several rock structures, pummeling Tails to death, and preforming a Colony Drop on Sonic.
  • Your Mom: GT Goku likes to do this whenever given the opportunity. It's implied that he's actually doing it with Android 21. And when she appears properly, he says that's his actual mom... She denies the association, though, also implying he's just saying these things.
Android 16: [about Kid Goku using his power pole to be tall and go first in battle] He's cheating.
Kid Goku: Your mom's cheating and BOY, am I loving it!
    Android 16: Oh...

Spotting Zyzx, Lucy, and Alfred on a platform below him, Lythero decides to do "something really funny", that being ambushing them from above and killing them all along with himself.

How well does it match the trope?
