is a Sonic the Hedgehog fan video series where Blaze and Sonic are swapped as infants, exploring how their upbringing shaped their lives. It is complete, with the finale released on Jun 17, 2025.
Chaos Swap contain examples of:
- 11th-Hour Superpower: In the finale, Blaze and Sonic fuse with their respective alternates to become Hyper Blaze and Hyper Sonic, giving them the strength to defeat Time Eater Mephiles.
- Accidental Truth: In Part 4, Mephilles tells Silver, Sonic, and Blaze that the latter is the host of Iblis. While not the case when they first get the information, when the heroes go back in time to Mephilles and Iblis's birth, Blaze has to seal Iblis into herself when the Duke of Soleanna fails to seal it in his daughter, as in the game. In essence, when Mephilles tried to frame Blaze as the Iblis trigger, he sets her to become Iblis's host in her future.
- Adaptational Origin Connection: Shadow's hedgehog apperance is explained as Gerald Robotnic basing him off the Hedgehog mural from Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
- Adaptational Name Change:
- Inverted with Tails, who chooses to go by his real name of Miles rather than reclaim the Embarrassing Nickname.
- Blaze's plane is called the Inferno rather than the Tornado, like Sonic's plane.
- Alternative-Self Name-Change: During the events of Sonic Generations, alternate names are used to distinguish the alternate pairs from the Chaos-Swapped timeline and the main timeline
- Rouge Invoke the trope so she can better tell her Shadow and Chaos Shadow apart, with the former going by Kerebos and the latter going by Eclipse.
- Chaos Blaze and Sonic go by just their name, while their alternate, Sol Dimension-raised counterparts are Princess Blaze and Prince Sonic, respectively.
- Amnesiac Hero: After the events of Adventure 2, Rouge finds Blaze, only for the cat to have no idea who she or anyone else is. Moreover, the two and Shadow aren't certain whether this is the real Blaze or an android made by Eggman, only getting confirmation during the fight against Metal Blaze.
- Bemoaning the New Body: Blaze gets depressed regarding her Were-Cat form, especially since, unlike Sonic in Sonic Unleashed, she doesn't turn to her normal form in the day
- Broken Pedestal: In between Adventure and Adventure 2, Blaze joined G.U.N. to have more resource and training in stopping Eggman. However, her trust in the organization is shattered, learning how Rouge was working with G.U.N. through duplicious means and G.U.N.'s role in Shadow's Start of Darkness after the Commander Tower confirms Eggman's reveal. Upon this, she burns her badge and resigns from G.U.N. in anger.
- Busman's Holiday: Early in episode 6. Amy talks Blaze into taking a break from hunting down Eggman by going on a date to Twinkle Park's space station. The couple eventually discovers that Eggman is running the park with his robots and enslaved Wisps.

- Cynicism Catalyst: Prince Sonic once had the same free spirit and compassionate heart as his canon self. But years of facing lectures and ridicule by nobles for his "unroyal" attitude had turned him into a bitter prince with confidence issues by the time he meets Blaze and Cream.
- Education Mama: Blaze is a sister variant of this trope when it comes to Miles, pushing him to focus on improving his mechanical skills and education. Although Miles finds her nagging annoying at first, it doesn't change his view of her as his Cool Big Sis, and it helps him get a college scholarship by the Adventure era.
- Heroic BSoD: Both Blaze and Prince Sonic fall into one after the Internal Reveal that they were Switched at Birth. Blaze admits that deep down she always knew something was wrong and feels like an idiot for not figuring it out sooner even when the evidence was staring her in the face while for Prince Sonic the revelation only adds to his cynicism and imposter syndrome. Their main universe counterparts help snap them out of it.
- Internal Reveal: While the fact that Blaze and Sonic were Switched at Birth is the Point of Divergence, neither finds out until the finale when they meet their main timeline counterparts, with Prince Sonic being the one to put the pieces together..
- Make Wrong What Once Went Right:
- When rushing to check to on Miles after her trip to the past, Blaze finds his grave instead, showing he died before he would have met her. Shadow deduces that Mephilles is messing with time to make it impossible for Blaze to go back and seal Iblis into herself, creating enough time paradoxes to cause a Time Crash.
- In the finale, it's revealed the Mephilles was responsible for switching Blaze and Sonic when they were infants, intending for their different upbringings to leave them weaker.
- My God, What Have I Done?: During her fight with Gamma, Amy is horrified and apologetic that, in her quest to rescue Birdie's family from Eggman, she had destroyed Gamma's sibling.
- Relationship Upgrade: After defeating Dark Gaia, Blaze and Amy get together as a couple.
- Role Swap AU:
- The main premise of the fic is that Sonic and Blaze are Switched at Birth, with Blaze becoming the hero of the Chaos Dimension and Sonic the prince of the Sol Dimension.
- In the final battle of Sonic Adventure 2, Blaze pushes Shadow out of the way before using Chaos Control to send the Ark back into orbit and falling to her seemingly death. Due to his promise to Blaze, Shadow takes over the role of The Hero to watch over Miles and Amy during the events of Sonic Advance, Sonic Advance 2, and Sonic Heroes. Meanwhile, Blaze takes his canon role as an Amnesiac Hero of a pseudo Team Dark. Blaze would return to her role as The Hero after regaining her memories at the end of Sonic Heroes.
- Team Member in the Adaptation: The alternate events of Sonic Adventure 2 cascades into merging or shiftting teams from Sonic Heroes.
