The Pink Corruption (Web Animation)
The title screen from Season 1 Episode 5-10.

The Pink Corruption, or simply Pink Corruption is a Just Shapes & Beats American fan-animated series made by Brittany Robinson (Formerly Lucas the Dubber) on YouTube that started in 2019. The episodes were uploaded on her older sister's YouTube channel, who currently goes by the username is Mirei Touyama Animations, who co-owned the series with, but then in 2023, Brittany herself uploaded the episodes on her own YouTube channel. The playlists of the 2 seasons are found in Mirei's channel, which are: this and that

But in February of 2020, Brittany discontinued the series and gave the ownership to QuadragonX, who continued the series as a web comic named, "The Pink Corruption Continued". However, Brittany decided to continue animating new episodes unrelated to the comic, which lead to the web animation series recontinued in November of 2020. "Pink Corruption Continued can be read here.

The series revolves in a magical world of shapes, with 4 shapes, Cube, Iris, Pentellow, and a monster, Pyrare, who are chosen to be the caretakers of 4 heroes, Cyan, Orange, Tsavorite, and Gold, from the Tree of Life to stop Dub and the Pink Corruption virus once and for all.

Tropes

  • Action Girl: The female protagonists and antagonists are brave and fight just like the males do.
  • Aerith and Bob: While there is "George" and "Iris", the rest of the other character have names like, "Pentellow", "Squadril", "Cintagon", "Hexagram", "Spheer", "Ajaceare", "Circubit", etc.
  • Affectionate Nickname:
    • Iris calls his girlfriend, Pentellow, "Lemon Pie", and she calls him "Grape Jam" in return. Iris calls Orange, "Grapefruit", and in return is called, "Grape"
    • In Episode 9 of Season 1, Polyhedron nicknames his children, Quintagon and Hexgram, as "Quinta" and "Hexa" for short.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: The shape inhabitants of Paradise come in many different colors, such as blue, green, yellow, purple, orange and even beige.
  • ...And That Little Girl Was Me: In episode 9, Cintagon tells the story of how Pentellow's father was told by the Tree Of Life to give his daughter away, before revealing said father to be himself.
  • Anti-Villain: Cyanide was created by Dub for "Project C" to help him spread the corruption, but when Cyan pointed out that Dub is evil and heroes should fight against the corruption, Cyanide gets mixed feelings about this to where she chooses to switch onto the good side.
  • Arm Cannon: Commander Circumsphere's primary weapon is his arm which operates as a cannon. His corrupted form, Circumcannon, brandishes this arm cannon more violently.
  • Art Evolution: The trees near the Tree of Life's area are each a stack of 3 triangles. The forest that Cube and Cyan are thrown into in episode 3 have trees with leaves made of squares that flow in the wind, as well as branches and roots which earlier trees lacked. By episode 10, conventionally designed cartoon trees with more detailed trunks are included as well.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: In episode 10, a giant corrupt taller than the trees breaks out of the first pink tree, which Dub manipulated into birthing hostless corrupts. Defeating it causes a partial World-Healing Wave which purifies that area from the corruption.
  • Asshole Victim: Circusic, aka, purified Circubit, was killed by Iris' father. But before his death, he was about to steal something precious from the castle, likely the crown, before then being caught in the act and getting his punishment. It would be unlikely for viewers to have sympathy for him at this point.
  • Back from the Dead: Cubic is essentially killed by the matured Cyan passing by Cube and purifying him. However, Dub uses Cubic's leftover data to revive Cubic for more evil tasks.
  • The Baby of the Bunch:
    • Cube is youngest out of the caretakers, by being 19 while Iris, Pentellow and Pyrare are 25, 24 and 1000+ respectively.
    • Cyan used to be the youngest out of the heroes, until Teal came, making Cyan the second youngest and Teal the first youngest.
    • Spheer is the youngest member in the Big Giant Circles group, by being confirmed a child.
  • Badass Adorable: The heroes, especially Cyan, may be cute, innocent and small when in their first and second form, but they're never afraid to fight against the Pink Corruption virus because it is their job.
  • Badass Family: Pentellow and her family, including her assigned hero or son-figure, Tsavorite, have their own weapons and abilities to fight against the corruption. The only current exception is Polyhedron, who we are not sure what his physical powers are, but we do know that as a hexagon, he has superhuman athleticism.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: In Cube's Dream Sequence, Cubic introduces himself as the latter's virus and uses his claw to hold Cube against a wall. As Cubic walks, the surroundings turn pink, but when Cube counters him, the area returns to blue. Cube lifts Cubic by the shirt, but just before he can land a punch, the screen cuts to black, with Cyan calling Cube's name. He wakes up to find that he had accidentally been attacking Cyan in his sleep, much to his horror.
  • Beam-O-War: Near the end of episode 2, Cyan rapidly matures from being thrown into the Tree of Life just before he confronts Dub. Dub shoots a pink eye beam towards Cyan while the hero shoots a blue ray from his chest to counter it.
  • Being Evil Sucks: As a corrupted hero, Cyanide struggles with what side she should stay on. After having a talk with Circusic (who turned back into Circubit afterwards) she has finally decided that she doesn’t want to be evil and joins the good side.
  • Beware the Nice Ones:
    • Cube may be a sweet and gentle shape, but as a cube, he exhibits superhuman strength and can't be afraid to fight against the Pink Corruption at times.
    • Cyan is similar to Cube, especially when he enters his matured state, which causes him to become more aggressive, disobedient and violent. But however, in the shorts, he is still his sweet self even when he is in his matured form.
    • Implied for Pentellow. While she is kind and helpful, she became filled with anger when hearing that the reaper and Circubit are planning to corrupt Iris.
  • Big Bad: Dub, a corrupted pink monster, has created the virus in order to take over paradise and intends any shape who is corrupted to be under his command.
  • Big Damn Reunion: Once Pentellow found out that Cintagon is her father the
entire time, they both happily brace each other in a hug while shedding tears.
  • Big Damn Hug: Pentellow and Cintagon both do this after reuniting with each other.
  • Big "OMG!": Pentellow says this in season 1, episode 10, while hugging Cintagon after a reunion.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Two from season 1, episode 4.
    • When Squadril tells them that any shape that can fight contains a fragment of the Tree of Life, Pentellow, Cube and Cyan say "WHAT!?" in unison, as they only thought heroes and/or caretakers were connected to the Tree.
    • Cube yells "WHAT?!" upon hearing from Iris that the first caretaker they are looking for, Pyrare, is the giant pyramid monster right before his eyes.
  • Black Bead Eyes: The normal shapes just have black ovals for eyes, but sometimes, they can change to have colored irises, as if, Black Eyes of Crazy.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: The majority of characters have pupil-less black eyes, be they Black Bead Eyes or otherwise, but some instances have them develop colored irises to highlight a darker nature.
    • Iris gets tiny light irises on his wide black scleras when he uses his powers, and he may wield his sword and/or grin sinisterly while doing so.
    • When infected by The Corruption, Cube gets an abnormal eye which looks like a black gear with a pink or blue centre, or a black sawblade, and his corrupted form Cubic bear these eyes more often, sometimes as both of his eyes.
    • After he's revived outside Cube's body, Cubic is more often seen having wide black eyes with tiny pink pupils, rather than Cube's flat-lined eyes. Adding to his insanity is that his eyes creepily drip with black liquid.
  • Blank White Eyes:
    • By default, normal shapes have entirely black eyes, but when overcome by fear or shock, their eyes become white circles with black outlines instead.
    • Exaggerated for the heroes. All the heroes have blank white eyes all the time, even when they're not in fear or shock. Instead, when they feel such emotions, their eyes will get bigger.
  • Bloody Horror: Circusic was murdered by Iris' father and his dead body can be seen in the short, "Circubit's Past", but is almost completely covered with a cloth.
  • Blood Knight: Downplayed. Iris is the quickest to jump into action, sometimes widely smiling as he swings his sword, suggesting an eagerness to fight.
  • Blush Sticker: Cyan is first seen with blue ovals below his eyes, that and his smile on his adorable base form is enough to cheer up Cube when he first meets Cyan. Iris blushes purple when Pentellow hugs him. Meanwhile, Cube gains two azure ovals on his cheeks when he's bashful, and Pentellow gets yellow blush stickers when feeling touched or shy.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: When a pure shape comes in contact with the pink corruption virus, it turns their body, including the clothes, pink, change their chest triangle to a pink octagram and become more evil and ruder.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Cube and the Sun have done this once.
  • Bridal Carry: In episode 10, Iris runs while carrying his girlfriend Pentellow, with one arm supporting her back and the other lifting her legs, as they search for Cintagon for information of Pentellow's family.
  • Brother–Sister Team: The Danimal Cannon group consists of Quintagon and Hexagram, who are siblings.
  • Cast of Snowflakes: All of the characters are completely unique and different to each other in their appearances and personalities.
  • Catapult Nightmare: After the second confrontation nightmare with Cubic, Cube woke and stood up in bed, taking breathes to calm down, then gently moving Cyan to the side.
  • The Chosen Many: There are a total of four heroes and caretakers chosen to fight against the Pink Corruption virus and stop Dub once and for all.
  • Chromosome Casting: Subverted for the heroes. All the main four heroes created to stop the corruption are all male, until Cyanide, the first female hero, is created. Making her the Token Girl of the heroes.
  • Color-Coded Speech: Downplayed. The subtitles for most shapes are white text in a dark blue text box, but for corrupts and other pink shapes, the text box is dark red with pink text. Sometimes when talking about another character, the text color of the other's name changes to that of who is being referred to.
  • Combat Haircomb: Pentellow's hair accessory bow can extend to turn into her literal bow.
  • Constructed World: Paradise has magical elements with the people as humaniod shapes.
  • Cooldown Hug: In episode 2, Heli flies Cube up to the rapidly matured Cyan to get him to calm down, as all that power at that rate would harm the young hero. Cube invites him into an embrace, and there Cyan calmly reverts to his normal form.
  • Cool Sword: Iris can drag a purple sword out of his head. It appears to have rotating gears on it for design.
  • The Corruption: The titular Pink Corruption is a contagious virus which Dub means to spread to take control of the other shapes, corrupting their minds into more evil personalities and pink color scheme.
  • Corrupt the Cutie:
    • Downplayed for Cyan. When he enters his matured state, he is not his sweet self this time, he has became more disobedient and aggressive but is still good. However, in the shorts, he is still his sweet self even when matured.
    • Subverted for Cyanide. When the heroes tried to purify her, the process fails and instead she enters her matured form and became programmed to attack others, especially towards Cyan. Thankfully, after Cyan cured her, she finally becomes purified and is renamed as Teal.
  • Cowardly Lion:
    • Although Cube is shy, sensitive and timid shape, his type as a cube shows that he is super strong and will have to be fierce and brave in certain situations.
    • Cintagon is jittery and skittish like Cube, but yet still fights alongside the other shapes, despite not having a weapon.
  • Create Your Own Hero: In episode 9, Dub enacts Project C - making a pink hero from corrupted pieces of the Tree of Life, who he names Cyanide. However, after her first outing with Cubic as her caretaker, the latter attacks Cube to reinfect him, and Cyan outcries to Cyanide that heroes are meant to fight Dub's corruption. Cyanide complies to ceasing connections with Dub and tags along with the other heroes instead.
  • Creepy Good: Iris, one of the caretakers, can get rather eager in battle and seems creepily at ease if not apathetic at times. When he summons his sword, his face turns a darker shade of purple, his voice is deeper or distorted and his usually all-black eyes generate tiny pupils. He spookily introduces himself to Cyan, Cube and Lythorus as "your worst nightmare" before dismissing it as a joke and healing Cube.
  • The Cutie: While Cyan is a hero who fights against the corruption and can become more violent in his mature form, he is still sweet and lovable like his caretaker.
  • Cyclops: The only monsters who have just one eye are Pyrare, Ajacenus and Ajacent (Aka Ajaceare). Dub did have one eye by default, but got a second one after his upgrade.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Cintagon gave away his daughter, Pentellow, because the Tree of Life told him his daughter would successfully become the 2nd caretaker if he did so. He was devastated to part from his child, but he complied.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Iris can sport Black Eyes of Crazy with a darkened face and an off-putting expression, and his chest triangle glows with a black centre instead of white like everyone else's. Nevertheless, he fights for the side of good.
  • Death by Childbirth: Cintagon tells Pentellow that her mother died at childbirth.
  • Disappeared Dad:
    • Subverted for Pentellow's dad. We already saw Cintagon ever since season 1, episode 5, until it was revealed in episode 10 that he is actually Pentellow's long lost father.
  • The Dog Bites Back:
    • Cyan has done this thrice in season 1 of series so far; twice in episode 2 and one time in episode 6.
    • After Acrilimus attacked the caretakers, heroes and Ketches, and then devoured Cyan, Cube becomes protective and saves his hero, but has also unintentionally killed Acrilimus.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Cube is, quite literally, a cube. His non-humanoid form is just his cube-shaped head and floating hands.
  • Double Weapon: Hexagram wields a bar-like weapon with a yellow square on each end. His corrupted form Hexadic wields two pink ones which look similar to the bar-like attacks in some levels of the original game.
  • Dreaming of Things to Come:
    • Cyan sometimes has visions of corrupt shapes before meeting them in person. In episode 1, he panics upon seeing Dub as he was trying to sleep, then the following morning, he and Cube go to him to find that the seal holding him had weakened. In episode 6, Cyan has visions of Ajaceare, warning him that the hostile cube his friends are going after is a monster.
    • Cube confronts his corrupted form, Cubic, in a dream, but even after he's revived outside Cube's body, Cubic shows up in his dream to tell him that he's out and about to find and destroy his friends, as well as have Cube "be close to him."
  • Dual Wielding: Hexadic wields two double weapons which he throws around into the walls closing in during his boss battle.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • Gold was supposed to debut in season 1, episode 3 separately from his caretaker, but this became a deleted scene.
    • Purpex was also originally going to appear in a deleted scene in season 1, episode 3, where she becomes purified by Cube, Pentellow, and each of the heroes in the forest. But this became a deleted scene as well.
  • Enemy Within: After Cube got infected with the corruption, he begins to have visions of his corrupted form, Cubic. As long as he's infected, Cubic can briefly take over Cube at any given time to attack his allies.
  • Enemy Without: Cyan cures Cube from his infection, erasing Cubic from him. However, Dub uses some leftover data of Cubic to revive him without his host, although he can't keep that form for long.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Dub is said to have been close to his friend Baracuda, who made the virus while Dub configured how to spread it. After his death, Dub seeks to fulfil their evil plan for his sake.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Circubit, one of the corrupted shapes, has never listened to Dub's orders and instead only did his own things. He even encouraged Cyanide to join the heroes on the good side in season 2, episode 4.
  • Evil Counterpart: When a shape gets corrupted, they turn into their evil pink corrupted counterpart.
    • Or in the case of Cube, his corrupted counterpart, Cubic, appears as a clone, even when Cube himself isn't infected.
  • Evil Is Angular:
    • When a shape is corrupted, the triangle on their chest turns into a pink octagram.
    • Cintagon and Purpex have the typical circular eyes, but their corrupted forms have more polygonal eyes, respective to their base shape. Cintagram's eyes are pentagon-shaped while Hexacrigon has hexagonal eyes. The latter's hexagonal adornments have triangles added in their designs as well.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Several corrupts have more distorted and lower-pitched voices than their normal uncorrupted forms.
  • Eyes Always Shut:
    • Downplayed for Cube. His eyes are normally closed, but can open his eyes when expressing certain emotions like fear or shock.
    • Straight for Spheer. Just like Cube, their eyes are closed by default, but except keeping them closed all the time.
  • Eye Beams: Dub can shoot pink laser beams from his eye(s).
  • Eye Cam:
    • Episode 3 begins from Cube's eyes as he wakes up, the vision being blurry at first before he blinks and finds himself in the forest.
    • After the intro sequence, episode 6 starts from the perspective of an injured Cube, who blinks as he's carried back to the others, the different shots from his eyes showing the sequence of events.
  • The Face of the Sun: The yellow sun with cloud hands in the original game is often seen smiling, and here it even has spoken lines when it didn't in the game. The Sun greets and welcomes the inhabitants of Paradise and even gives announcements, such as the Tree of Life's anniversary (when a hero is made) or the weather.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Subverted. When good pure shapes become corrupted they become pink evil villains and join the evil side. But some of them become purified and revert back to their original pure counterparts and on the good side. Maybe they just got brainwashed.
  • Face Palm:
    • Cube puts his square hand to his face in disbelief after realizing that he and Cyan didn't seal the monster properly.
    • In episode 9, Hexagram incredulously puts his hand between his eyes when his father suspects him and his sister to be corrupts that look like his kids, to which Quintagon reminds that anything a corrupt touches turns pink.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Cyan and Cube reseal the monster Dub, but they miss securing the area under the seal inside the cave floor. When Lythorus asks if they sealed there too, they're disappointed to realize that they actually didn't.
  • Father's Quest: Cube rescuing his hero, Cyan, in Season 1, Episode 8.
  • Fingerless Hands: Shapes just have hands that are shaped based on what shape they are and lack any visible fingers. But this can be subverted thanks to Sudden Anatomy, where in some scenes, they can show fingers.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Lythorus tells Cube and Cyan of the imminent effects of the virus: excessive sweating, turning pink and spreading it everywhere. Just behind him is another flower going through this exact process as he explains. The three of them then see a group of corrupted pink flowers behind Lythorus and run away.
  • Flash Step: Each hero can levitate and fly very quickly, dashing in a flash of light. In episode 5, Iris follows the heroes, who are catching up to Cintagon running from Circumcannon, by teleporting, and his method of travel does not look dissimilar to the heroes' Super-Speed, as they even arrive at the same place at the same time.
  • Flashy Teleportation: When Iris teleports, he leaves behind a flash of light.
  • Flat Scare: Circubit scares Cube by yelling out, “boo” in season 2, episode 1.
  • Floating Limbs: Donwplayed. Shapes lack necks and arms, allowing their heads and hands to just float, but still have full visible legs. Those who wear sleeves appear to have arms, but actually do not and are just like any other shape.
  • Gender Is No Object: Any shape regardless of gender can fight, whether is it to stop the Pink Corruption as pure, or to spread it as corrupted. Pentellow, the female protagonist and Ajaceare, the female antagonist are examples.
  • Gentle Giant: Monsters may be big, but not all of them are evil, as confirmed by Pyrare. He himself is also an example of this trope.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Downplayed. Swear words are almost completely avoided. The closest instances to such include Squadril exclaiming "Oh Sugar Honey Iced Tea!" and a few other shapes saying "ship" in place of "shit". But in Season 2, hell, damnit and asshole were used.
  • Hair Reboot: In episode 2, Dub regenerates his hair right after Iris slices it with his sword.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: In episode 9, Cubic's drill strikes Cube through the abdomen. He survives, but it allows Cubic to re-enter Cube's body to reinfect him.
  • In the Hood: When Ajaceare has her hood up, her cyclops eye is concealed unless she's using her powers, in which case it glows.
  • Invisible Anatomy:
    • If all shapes lack a visible nose and polygons have flat faces, how are Polyhedron's glasses staying on his face?
    • How can monsters without mouths still be able to talk and ingest things?
    • When shapes wear long sleeved tops, it gives the illusions that they have arms, but they actually don't. Or maybe they're invisible.
  • Jump Scare: Circubit does this to Cube in season 2, episode 1, where he jumps up behind him and yells, "Boo!"
  • Kid Hero: According to Pentellow, in a hero's first and second forms, they are classified as babies. However, she advises Cube that if they behave like it, then they're being raised wrong.
  • Kill It Through Its Stomach: In episode 8, Acrilimus returns and swallows Cyan, then Cube rescues him by entering the creature's mouth and using his sawblade to break the two of them out.
  • The Leader:
    • Purpex is the leader of the Chipzel Group.
    • Implied. The Big Giant Circles group has four members, including the non binary child, Spheer. Circumusle could possibly be the leader in the group for some reason.
  • Legacy of the Chosen: Each year, the Tree of Life makes a new hero and chooses a new caretaker to accompany and fight alongside the hero to keep the Pink Corruption at bay, in hopes of vanquishing it once and for all.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: In episode 5, Iris suggests that they (the heroes and caretakers) and the two newly introduced members of the Chipzel group split up to solve two tasks in the woods at once - half of them (Iris, Orange, Cube and Cyan) would find the first caretaker, Pyrare, and the other half (Pentellow, Tsavorite, Squadril and Marcle) would save the leader of Chipzel, Purpex.
  • A Lizard Named "Liz": Some shapes are named like this after their appearance. For example, Pentellow, who is a yellow pentagon.
  • Losing Your Head: Shapes can make their humanoid bodies disappear, leaving just their head shape which hops or floats around instead. Cube can't revert to this form when he's injured, like after he's struck by Acrilimus' attack and infected.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Cintagon revealing to Pentellow that he is her father in season 1, episode 10 after telling his past story.

  • Meaningful Background Event: As Lythorus explains the effects of the virus to Cyan and Cube, behind him is a flower going through the same effects and corrupting others. Cyan and Cube's terrified expressions say it all.
  • Men Don't Cry: Inverted for Cube. He, a male, is an emotionally sensitive shape who is prone to tears and will cry when it comes to his loved ones in danger or injured.
    • Interestingly, we happen to see more scenes of male characters crying than the females, which includes Cyan and Cintagon, who are both male. And yet nobody goes against it. The only scene where a female cried was in season 1, episode 10, where Pentellow and Cintagon happily braced each other in a hug with tears.
  • Missing Mom:
    • Straight for Pentellow since we know her mother died after giving birth to her
    • Implied for Quintagon, Hexgram and Circumuscle, since we have never seen their mothers in the series and they're never mentioned. Only their fathers are there.
  • Moment Killer: In season 1 episode 7, Pentellow and Iris share a kiss. Cube says "Aww" as he spectates from the above bunk, interrupting the couple's bonding moment.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Cube has realized and felt pity that he didn't control his emotions and accidently killed Acrilimus while trying to save Cyan.
  • Neutral No Longer: Cyanide, who struggled with being either on the evil or good side, joins the good side and is renamed as Teal.
  • Nightmare Face: Downplayed for Iris. He can make half of his face or all of it turn a darker shade of plum, which gives him Black Eyes of Crazy as he grins maniacally. He uses it to jokingly introduce himself as "your worst nightmare", and also in battle to appear more intimidating.
  • No Mouth: Three monsters, Pyrare, Barracuda and Ajacenus, lack a mouth but yet still talk. Same goes for Ketches, Copter, Hexacrigon, and matured Cyanide. The Tree Monster also lacks a mouth, but never talks.
    • This also happens to Cube in his second confrontation dream with Cubic. This later becomes subverted once Cubic literally slaps his mouth back onto his face.
  • No-Neck Chump: All shapes lack a visible neck to where their heads just float.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Pyrare is a caretaker who happens to be a big pyramid monster, which takes Cube and Cyan aback at first. Others have been frozen with fear at his appearance, but he explains that not all monsters are evil.
  • The Noseless: All shapes lack a visible nose.
  • Odd Name Out: Zigzagged. Compared to the other heroes' colored names like Cyan, Orange and Gold, the name of a green gemstone like Tsavorite sticks out most. However, later episodes call him Green.
  • Official Couple: There are two canon heterosexual couples in the series, Iris x Pentellow and Circumuscle x Rincle.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Cube, Cintagon and Quintagon have this expression when seeing Pyrare for the first time.
  • The One Guy: Downplayed. Circumusle is the only male member in the Big Giant Circles Group, but the child of the group, Spheer, is non-binary. While Cirtunda and Rincle are female.
  • Our Humans Are Different: The humans in this universe are humanoid geometric shapes that lack necks and arms, leaving their heads and hands floating.
  • Our Monsters Are Different: Monsters are just bigger shapes, which some may have a cyclops eye with a iris instead of just whole black eyes.
  • Parental Abandonment:
    • Straight for Pentellow. Her father, Cintagon, had to give her away at birth and when her mother died.
    • Implied for Cube. We never saw his family in the series, but it is heavily implied that his parents may have abandoned or got separated from him.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Cyanide, who is Teal but corrupted, is a pink corrupted heroine, and her brother, Cyan, who shared the same tree, is a male cyan hero with a blue scarf.
  • Posthumous Character: Baracuda, Pyrare's son, died before the time of the series, but he created the virus while Dub continues their plan to take over Paradise in his steed after his death.
  • Power Floats: All of the heroes can levitate, and pretty much always do.
  • The Power of Family: When Pentellow discovers out the rest of her family after finding out Cintagon is her father, Cintagon and the others, Purpex, Quintagon, Hexgram, and Polyhedron form a pentagonal area around Pentellow and use their powers to give out her Tree Form.
  • Prone to Tears: Downplayed. Even if Cube may be physically strong and become violent, he's not emotionally strong as he is a sensitive and emotional shape who can be prone to tears and cry. But this is only when it comes to his loved ones in pain or danger or getting into intense arguments.
  • Psycho Pink: Similarly to the original game, anything pink is likely afflicted by The Corruption and associated with evil. Cyanide is an exception because of her not liking to be evil, so she leaves her role as a villain and joins the heroes for good.
  • Punched Across the Room: In season 1, episode 6, Cyan charges up a punch which strikes Ajaceare across the cave chamber.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Iris is aloof and pragmatic while Pentellow, his girlfriend, is more outgoing and optimistic.
  • The Scream: Cube after Circubit jumpscared him in season 2, episode 1.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Dub is imprisoned in a mountain cave with a special seal powered by the most recently picked hero of that year. Don't forget to seal the ground below him too though...
  • Secondary Sexual Characteristics: Females have slimmer torsos with smaller waists and eyelashes, while males don't have eyelashes but some may instead have naturally born eyebrows, and have wide torsos with flat chests.
    • However, there are two exceptions. With Ajaceare and matured Cyanide not having eyelashes despite being female.
  • Sentient Vehicle: Ketches the boat and Heli the helicopter are talking transportation whose duties are to take caretakers and heroes where they need to go.
  • Shovel Strike: Quintagon whacks away corrupts with her shovel that is as yellow as her.
  • Shy Finger-Twiddling: Although there weren't any visible fingers, Cube did this in season 2, episode 5, when he explained he knows how to cook, but can only make breakfast and desserts.
  • Sick Episode: Shown in a short instead of an episode, Cube was sick with the common cold in the first Cyan and Cyanide short.
    • There is also a corrupted version of the short too, where Cubic takes Cube's place and is the one who is sick.
  • Sixth Ranger: After Cyan purified Cyanide and she was renamed as Teal, she joins the heroes' and caretakers' side for the good.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Pentellow is the only female caretaker and Teal is the 5th and first female hero to exist. While the rest of the cast for the caretakers and heroes are male.
  • Sudden Anatomy: Shapes who aren't naturally born with eyebrows will gain eyebrows when expressing certain emotions. And shapes will also show fingers at certain times.
  • Taking the Bullet: Cintagon jumps in front of Pentellow to block Circumcannon's attack, getting himself hit instead, which corrupts him into Cintagram.
  • Tears of Joy: When Pentellow realized Cintagon was her biological father this whole time, they both happily engage in a hug while shedding tears.
  • Teleportation: Iris has the ability to teleport with a flash of light to reappear somewhere else. He can also teleport someone with him by holding them while he does so.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics:
    • Most male characters are bald but some can have short hair in a masculine style. Their attire are commonly coats, usually long sleeved, scarfs and capes.
      • Circumsphere, one of the male characters, wears a soldier uniform and helmet.
    • Females have hair by default which are short and designed to be feminine. Their attire include dresses, necklaces and earrings.
  • That Man Is Dead: Lythorus, who was corrupted into Lycanthropy, doesn't take kindly to Cube calling him Lythorus.
  • Thundering Herd: The gang dodges a stampede of corrupt flowers, who make a translucent cloud of dust as they run past.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Spheer is the only child of the Big Giant Circles group among the other three adult members, making them the youngest. They're also described as a cute and energetic child.
  • True Blue Femininity: Marcle, Purpex, Rincle, and Teal are examples of this because of them being feminine and blue in color.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: The Chipzel Group consists of a female leader (Purpex), along with two members who are female (Marcle) and male (Squadril) respectively.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Pentellow looks similar to her great-cousin, Quintagon, as pointed out by Purpex.
  • Unstable Powered Child: When Cyan and Cyanide mature, they're unable to control themselves and become more violent. This becomes subverted when Cyan calms down and reverts back to his second form and Cyanide is purified and becomes Teal.
    • However, this is averted for Cyan in the shorts, where he remains calms even in his matured state.
  • Vague Age:
    • Subverted for the heroes and caretakers. It used be unknown how old the heroes and caretakers were, but when an unknown person has asked how old they were, Brittney revealed their ages: For the heroes Cyan is 0, Orange is 1, Tsavorite is 2 and Gold is 3. For the caretakers Cube is 19, Pentellow is 24, Iris is 25, and Pyrare is 1000+.
    • Also subverted for Spheer. They're revealed to be a child who was been around ever since Iris was a teenager, but it wasn't explicitly stated how old they truly are. This was until season 2, episode 6. Where they tell Cirtunda they're 12.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Implied for Rincle. In season 2, episode 1, it's discussed by Circumuscle that he, Spheer and Cirtunda were getting chased by Circubit. While Circumuscle stops Cirtunda from attacking after getting semi-infected, his girlfriend, Rincle, appears and attacks Circubit along with telling Circumusle to run. This implies that she did this to protect her boyfriend.
  • Wham Line: Throughout season 1, it was completely ambiguous that Cintagon is actually Pentellow's father. This was until the 10th episode, where he explains everything about what he did with her back then. Not only that, the rest of Pentellow's family is also revealed.
Cintagon: "Until now, I can finally tell you why I had to give you away."
Purpex: "So you are related to us!"
  • Would Hit a Girl: Cyan punched Ajaceare in the face after SHE brainwashed and half corrupted Cube
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: Pyrare, a male monster pyramid chose not to attack Ajaceare, a female monster cube, because of him acknowledging that it's wrong for a man to hit a female, corrupted or not. So he lets Ajaceare's sisters do the fighting instead.
  • Yellow/Purple Contrast: Pentellow and Iris, a yellow pentagon and purple sphere respectively. Pentellow is more cheerful and kind while her boyfriend, Iris, is less emotional and sometimes Creepy Good.
