The Lobo Web series premiered in June 15, 2000 with 14 web cartoons made by Noodle Soup Productions for Warner Bros. Animation. It was made after a children's animated series based on Lobo was cancelled. Unlike other DC Animated Universe media, it's obviously for mature audiences and has a TV-MA rating. It used to be at www.loboonline.com, but the site was taken down by Warner Brothers in 2002. The webtoons also have interactive segments.

- Actor Allusion: Before voicing Sunny Jim, Tom Kenny was known for voicing SpongeBob SquarePants, another yellow character.
- Adapted Out: Al, the owner of Al's Diner, is not seen.
- Alien Blood: Hilariously averted. Almost everyone bleeds red.
- Alternate Continuity: The web series is very likely a separate continuity from the standard DC Animated Universe canon because none of its events are even referenced in other DCAU content and there is no indication that Lobo's appearances in Superman: The Animated Series are canon to the web series, not to mention the fact that Lobo's character design barely looks anything like how he was depicted in Superman: The Animated Series. The initial producer Boyd Kirkland himself has stated that the web series is adjacent to the DCAU.
- Amusing Injuries: A lot of the violence is for the sake of humor.
- Animated Shock Comedy: For sure, though in this case it's completely appropriate for the character.
- Arc Villain: Sunny Jim serves as the main antagonist in the first five episodes, while the last four episodes have the gluttonous Snake as the main threat due to eating Lobo's current bounty Mudboy.
- Birthday Episode: The Bustin' Out Of Oblivion episodes has Slaz celebrating his cellmate and boyfriend Major Snake's birthday.
- Black-and-Grey Morality: While there are evil criminals around, Lobo loves to have sex, swear a lot and do violent acts.
- Black Comedy: Quite a lot of the violence is played for laughs.
- Bloodier and Gorier: Much more graphically violent than all of the other works related to the DCAU.
- Bloody Hilarious: There are plenty of gory and hilarious moments.
- Bookends: In the Bustin' Out of Oblivion webisodes, the first one starts at One Lung's bar and the fourth and final one ends at One Lung's Bar.
- Boom, Headshot!: Lobo kills his enemies by shooting them in the head quite often.
- Brain in a Jar: Criminal Mind seen in "Bustin' out of Oblivion Part 3" is a brain in a jar.
- Bury Your Gays: Both Slaz and Major Snake, a gay couple die by the end of Breakout.
- Canon Foreigner: All of the characters aside from Lobo and Darlene originate from this cartoon and didn't exist in the comics.
- Cluster *Bleep*-Bomb: Lobo goes on a profane rant where many of the words are bleeped out by the end of "Lobo for President".
- Cluster Frag Grenade: Lobo peppers his sentences with "frag".
- Continuity Porn: In the last four webisodes, aliens from the other webtoons appear frequently.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Most of the deaths in the web series are quite gory and graphic.
- Darker and Edgier: The only DCAU-related media that has gratuitous profanity and violence.
- Death by Irony: Slaz and Sniff hug each other not knowing of their spikes killing them.
- Denser and Wackier: Even though Lobo has tons of swearing and violence, it is the funniest of the DCAU-related media.
- Everything's Deader with Zombies: Lobo encounters the MBA, a race of alien zombies in a few episodes.
- Explosive Cigar: Lobo puts this in Tubo's mouth and detonates it.
- Facial Horror:
- In "Market Day", Lobo's face is reduced to some brain matter.
- In "Bustin Out of Oblivion Part 3", Lobo's face is reduced to a bloody pulp
- In "Lobo for President", Lobo's face gets covered in acid urine.
- Flipping the Bird:
- Darlene Spritzer flips off Lobo as she dumps him and takes his bike at the end of "Payback Time".
- "Lobo for President" features a campaign poster of Lobo raising his middle finger.
- In "When Pigs Fly", Lobo's severed arm gives the bird to Whutzat.
- Gory Discretion Shot: Mostly averted. The only instance where the work goes out of its way to not show any on-screen carnage is in "Lobo for President" where Lobo kills a baby alien off-screen.
- Groin Attack: One of the space penguins loaned to Lobo in the final arc bites him in the nuts.
- Healing Factor: Lobo can completely regenerate his own bones, organs and skin when he gets brutally hurt.
- Inexplicably Speaks Fluent Alien: Lobo understood what the MBA member was saying. Lobo got angry when the MBA member mentioned Sunny Jim, Lobo's rival. He has never heard their language before.
- Jerkass:
- Lobo isn't any nicer than his usual depictions. In fact, it's quite common in this series for him to kill people just for pissing him off.
- Sunny Jim, the first villain faced in the series, isn't any better, as he made a bet with Lobo over which of them would date Darlene first and makes some rather sexist remarks towards Darlene.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Lobo rescues people from different threats within the series.
- Mickey Mousing: During certain gory scenes, rock motifs are heard.
- Mooning: "Lobo for President" ends with Lobo mooning the camera.
- Named After the Injury: Sunny Jim, who got his face carved by Lobo to resemble a smiley face.

- Palette Swap: The MBA have a similar design with Inspector Mortis from Death and Taxes but have albino skin and red eyes instead of yellowish skin and green eyes.
- Pig Man: Mudboy the Porkan looks like a pig.
- Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Lobo is known for these. For example, before fighting Tubo, Lobo told him "Thanks, Clyde. I think you cleaned away most of my plaque!"
- Prison Episode: The Bustin' Out of Oblivion webisodes consist of Lobo having to bust Slaz out of prison after being hired to do so by Slaz's brother Sniff.
- R-Rated Opening: The very first episode begins with Lobo shooting an alien's head in a bloody and gory manner.
- Ruder and Cruder: The Lobo Webseries uses profanity relatively often, at least compared to the rest of the DC Animated Universe.
- Short-Runner: The series ended after 14 episodes in 14 weeks.
- Stuff Blowing Up: A lot of explosions occur.
- Testosterone Poisoning: Lobo's masculinity is played for laughs.
- Toilet Humour: The first part of "Bustin' Out of Oblivion" has an interactive segment where you can make Lobo and Sniff fart.
- Token Human: Darlene Spritzer is the only human shown.
- Tracking Device: Lobo uses a tracking device to find Mudboy the Porkan.
- Truer to the Text: Compared to his depictions in Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League that had to tone him down to be more appropriate for a children's cartoon, Lobo here is shown in full adult-oriented style such as his smoking, swearing and excessive gore, thanks to Internet media not being bound by the same restrictions as network television programs aimed at younger audiences.
- Uncanny Valley: Invoked with the MBA, where they all have a bizarre moving pattern and pale skin. It doesn't help they are alien zombies.
- Urine Trouble:
- "Bustin' Out of Oblivion" begins with an alien dog peeing on Lobo's bike.
- "Lobo for President" sees a baby with acidic urine revive itself on Lobo's face. Thanks to his Healing Factor, Lobo's face quickly regenerates, who then kills the baby.
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot:
- Major Snake is shown vomiting up pills and other stuff in the "Bustin' Out of Oblivion" episodes.
- Snake vomits on-screen when Lobo makes him puke out Mudboy in the final episode.
- Vulgar Humor: Lobo does a lot of raunchy jokes. He even compared the Snake's face to his "Johnson with herpes".
- Would Hurt a Child: Lobo's response to a baby peeing on his face in "Lobo for President" was to obliterate the baby.
- Your Head A-Splode: Lobo usually makes other aliens explode their heads by shooting their heads.
