"Hello internet, and welcome to Fan's Fantastic Features!"
— Fan
Fan's Fantastic Features is a spin-off variety Object Show from Inanimate Insanity which premiered on September 26, 2020.
It features Fan and Test Tube, as the host and cinematographer respectively, interviewing the eliminated contestants from the first two seasons while hijinks ensure.
The interviews can be accessed through this official playlist
.
Fan's Fantastic Features contains examples of:
- Alliterative Title: Fan's Fantastic Features
- Always Someone Better: In episode 3, Nickel meets Dime, who is worth more and more loved by members of the talk show. Nickel says he wouldn't wish this on anyone else, but he himself is worth more than Coiny, a penny.
- Animate Inanimate Object: All of the characters are inanimate objects, just like in their source material.
- Animation Bump: Inverted. The animation is far less detailed as to be easier to make. The characters' mouths in particular don't move with their speech. This is justified in the first episode as it shows the camera falling off the tripod, explaining the lack of fluid animation.
- The Bus Came Back: Eliminated contestants get to shine in this series. So does Fan.
- The Cameo: Coiny, voiced by Michael Huang, shows up briefly in episode 3 after Nickel says he wouldn't wish for anyone else to have a knock-off who's worth more.
- Conveniently Timed Distraction: In "PURGATORY PARTY!", Bow is asked the story of how she got her tail, with Fan being specifically told not to distract her. She gets about halfway through, only for Fan to distract her anyway by pointing out how her response to the question about her relationship with Dough could've been worded nicer.
- A Day in the Limelight: All of the eliminated contestants from season 1 and 2 have a chance to shine in their respective episodes on the show.
- Golden Snitch: Inverted in episode 2. Box wins the physical challenge, but it only counts for half a point. The other team has a whopping two-thousand-point total.
- Hostile Show Takeover: "Steve Cobs Q&A" is hosted by Cobs, A.D.A.M., B.R.I.A.N., and J.U.S.T.I.N. after the events of "Through No Choice of Your Own", where all the contestants had been erased from existence and thus having no Fan to host, since he's among who got deleted.
- Inanimate Competitor: Subverted with Box. It's just a box, but it inexplicably manages to win the physical challenge.
- Lighter and Softer: This show is definitely a lot more comical and heartwarming in some places in comparison to the Darker and Edgier season 2 of Inanimate Insanity. Well, except for the Steve Cobs Q&A, where while still relatively lighthearted, Cobs proves to be a more cruel host compared to Fan.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Marshmallow, Apple, and Dough have no idea who Goo is due to not competing in Season 3 (Bow knows due to having watched it on TV), while Fan, Test Tube, and Paintbrush all treat him as they normally do.
- Only Sane Man: Trophy is unamused that everyone seems to think Box is a living being. It turns out Toilet Paper also shares the sentiment.
- Poor Communication Kills: Goo arrives at Purgatory Mansion to tell Fan, Test Tube, and Paintbrush that OJ and Nickel have been wiped from existence by MePhoneX, but he's only able to word it as, "they fell," making Fan think that OJ and Nickel were pranked and that Goo is trying to bring him back so he can prank Fan, too.
- Seinfeldian Conversation: Paper's segment in "PRE-FINALE HOTEL OJ PARTY!" is mostly spent with him and Fan arguing over whether Hotel OJ Party acronymed is HOP (treating OJ as one word) or HOJP (treating OJ itself as an acronym for Orange Juice). Paper takes the side of HOP, while Fan takes the side of HOJP.
- Spin-Off: A Talk Show featuring eliminated contestants of Inanimate Insanity.
- Talk Show: Fan interviews eliminated contestants while Test Tube holds the camera. Episode 2 is a "game show edition".
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Tissues is bit more sassy and smug here then he is in the Inanimate Insanity series proper, but it can be justified as Trophy is his roommate at Hotel OJ and Trophy's negative influence might have rubbed off on him, that, and it's heavily implied that he is tired of his "condishawn" up until that point. But, this is largely downplayed because of Tissues apologizes for his insensitive remarks and just wants a friend.
- Variety Show: While the show is presented as a Talk Show, each episode provides a wildly different format, with episode 2 being a game show, and episode 4 presenting a Hostile Show Takeover due to Salt and Pepper.
