The random drunk that Jenks runs into is actually Liam's ghost.

Just when it looks like Jenks might have hit a dead end in his investigation, he randomly meets an unnamed character in the woods who clues him in to the death of Liam last year. Jenks never mentions this character to anyone else, and the only other time this character appears is to direct Jenks to the Atlas "sacrifice" in the woods. Perhaps Liam was sacrificed in a similar manner, and this was him getting back at Third Eye/Atlas from beyond the grave. Also, Liam is mentioned as being intoxicated and drinking from a bottle at the last Third Eye meeting before his death, just as the unnamed character is.

  • However it was said that Liam died in a manner similar to Kate's, which was why it was ruled a suicide. Though it doesn't exclude him getting revenge from beyond if they did sacrifice him via drowning.
  • It should also be noted Emma describes Liam as having an ugly birthmark on his face, but the drunk that Jenks runs into has no such birthmark.

James is extracting opium from the poppy pods and selling it.

Because it's obvious.

  • Simon tells you that James offered him opium tea, so I think that's a given.

Lisa went crazy in the mirror room

Lisa's paranoia revolves around mirrors and seeing her reflection possessed by demons, and Atlas has a room dedicated to seeing yourself differently through mirrors. Its likely that this part of the course is what caused Lisa to snap and convinced her that Atlas was evil. Especially if Ryan tried to make her guilt-free or ruthless and/or used satanic imagery in the mirror room.

Kate's license was originally going to be found later in the game.

In the intro, Jenks finding Kate's license is shot just like how he finds other objects on the ground, and is one of the only scenes in the intro that isn't copied from another part of the game. Considering that it's useless until the endgame when it leads to the key evidence that the adhesive tape on it has a unique pattern that proves Rebecca must have used it, perhaps it was intended to be discovered later in the game washed up on the shore at a location that was cut for budgetary reasons.

  • It would alleviate the issue where some players saw the taped up window within the first few minutes and were confused as to why Jenks wouldn't ask Rebecca about the similar tape since it's more plausible for Jenks not to automatically make the connection after he's got a few dozen clues compared to the beginning when he has only Kate and her license.

The game was intending to end with Jenks exposing Atlas and going into a boss fight with either Paul or Ryan Rand

It likely would’ve happened after Rebecca Rand was arrested for Kate’s murder in which Ryan would burst in with a gun and Jenks would be forced to wound him in self defence, dragging him to Atlas. Jenks would then go to Atlas to confront Paul and would expose him, therefore ending with him arresting the Rands (including Paul’s daughter-in-law) and also tie up loose ends.
