Based on Toyota's car line of the same name, Yaris is a racing game released for free on the Xbox Live Arcade during October 10 of 2007 until it was discontinued in 2008 for reasons unexplained, leaving it only available to those who managed to download it on their Xbox 360. A simple game with futuristic elements, the player can choose from three models of the Yaris line of cars with their first color to pick from being red and other colors being additional options to switch to. The cars come equipped with the mechanosymbiont robotic gun as they mow down all the enemies in their path on the road and can choose from an S Sedan, a standard Sedan, or a Liftback. The enemies that intervene when the player drives on the road include, fat motorcyclists, flaming wheels, and mobile phones that mandate the use of the gun and other weapons the player can gain and use at their disposal such as lasers, a sawblade, and a rocket launcher. The game also had a multiplayer mode where the second player can help or hinder their partner and provide additional actions such as shield regeneration, collect more coins, drain enemy shields, and make enemies drop more coins. The coins can be used as part of a shopping feature such as buying new weapons or upgrading the player's car.
Yaris had these tropes during the year it lasted:
- Acrofatic: The weight of the fat motorcyclist does not prevent them from driving their cycles effortlessly
- Advertisement Game: It is a combat racing game based around the car of the same name.
- Badass Biker: Despite their girth, the fat bikers can really maneuver the roads you drive on via their motorcycles.
- Everything Trying to Kill You: There are a handful of enemies that try to hinder you from reaching the finish such as mobile phones, obese motorcyclists, and wheels coated in fire that leave their flames on the road.
- Fat Bastard: One of the common enemies standing in the player's way to victory are fat motorcyclists.
- Kill It with Fire: The flaming wheels try to end your game by coating the road in fire.
- Minimalist Cast: It only provides three cars to pick from. A regular Sedan, an S Sedan, and a liftback
- Product Placement: It was free-to-play game for Xbox Live Arcade made by Backbone Entertainment in 2007 featuring nothing but the namesake car, as a way to promote their initial product.
- Shout-Out: The tracks can look like the special stages from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as they can become a U-shape.
- Weaponized Car: The car is armed with a mechanosymbiont gun connected to it via cable and the player must mow down all foes in their path with it to clear the road.
