In 28 DA, the Holy Order of Vyena invades Respene Kingdom in order to slaughter its people for using magic, and thanks to someone interfering with the kingdom's seers, the order ends up ambushing and overwhelming them. Princess Isolde Eldara is forced to abandon her easy royal life and flee with her royal servants, Ronan, Orwin, and Kaeros. The order's leader, Chancellor Alexandria, is hellbent on hunting down the party in the name of Vyena, not knowing that her goddess hides a terrible secret.

This game contains examples of:
- 10-Minute Retirement: Kaeros leaves the party in anger when Princess Isolde complains about small inconveniences after the kingdom and her father are wiped out. He calms down and returns near the end of the dungeon to save the party from an ambush, and reconciles with Isolde afterwards.
- The Bad Guy Wins: The Holy Order of Gemeid succeeds in killing Isolde, Ronan, Orwin, and Kaeros in the cutscene after the Final Boss fight.
- Benevolent Abomination: Joan is a Starfish Alien-looking being who roams the Dreaming Valleys, but isn't hostile. If the player has the smooth and silky stone from the Crystal Cavern, Joan will trade a Mana Stone for it.
- Contrasting Sequel Protagonist: This game takes between BlueSkies and BlueSkies 2, and Princess Isolde is far different from Skye and the majority of healer protagonists in Starmage's games. While Skye and most protagonists of his archetype are humble and polite, Isolde is a spoiled brat who treats her servants rudely, though she does show a softer side at times, such as when Gobi is in danger or when she realizes her attitude is alienating Kaeros. In a twist, Isolde is actually the past life of Lyrelle, who is retroactively a Composite Character with Skye's kindness and Isolde's willingness to fight her oppressors and avenge her loved ones.
- Create Your Own Villain: The party abandons a goblin child and his family because they prioritize Princess Isolde's safety. That child is Gobi, who ends up in Lord Ciceri's care, causing him to become the Big Bad of Heroes of the Seasons.
- Draw Aggro: Ronan is the most durable party member and his Taunt Howl skill increases his chances of being targeted by enemies. It also doesn't use up his turn, making it one of the more efficient examples.
- Dungeon Shop: Aegos is a merchant who sells consumables and stat-boosting items, but his service can only be used once per dungeon. Once the player exits the shopping screen, he cannot be encountered in the current dungeon again.
- Everyone Has Standards: Although Princess Isolde is a spoiled brat, she's reluctant to leave a goblin child, Gobi, behind while she's on the run from the Holy Order of Vyena. Unfortunately, the child refuses to leave without his captured family and the party doesn't have time to save them, so they abandon the child.
- Extra Turn: Orwin has the Whirl Speed spell, which grants two extra actions at the end of a round to whoever they cast it on. The drawback is that its cooldown is longer than its duration.
- Glass Cannon: Kaeros has the highest physical attack and agility, a poison skill, and a quadruple hit skill, but isn't much more durable than the squishy wizards Isolde and Orwin in terms of HP and defensive stats.
- Irony: Although Isolde delivered a prayer for revenge on the Holy Order of Gemeid and Matria as she burnt at stake, her reincarnation, Lyrelle, ends up making peace with the Holy Order of Gemeid and becomes its new leader, though she does end up defeating Matria and temporarily sending her back to the pits.
- Karmic Death: Right before Chancellor Alexandria burns Isolde at stake, she gloats that she's in the right because she was chosen by Vyena. Once she returns to Gemeid, Vyena, who is really Matria in disguise, orders Rhetz to poison Alexandria for outliving her usefulness. To add insult to injury, the real Vyena gives Isolde a second chance at life, meaning Isolde and not Alexandria was chosen by the goddess.
- Lightning Bruiser: Ronan has the most HP of the party and the best physical defense while still having respectable magic defense. His physical attack and agility are second only to Kaeros and while he has the role of party tank, his Draw Aggro skill doesn't use up a turn, allowing him to attack and protect allies at the same time. He has the most consistently usable party-wide attack, allowing him to deal good group damage. Ronan's ultimate skill, Primal Strength, heals him while tripling his attack and agility. His only weakness is that he has the lowest MP, requiring the player to invest MP-boosting items in order to spam his more expensive skills.
- Naked People Are Funny: Aegos is an elf merchant who is completely naked, save for his backpack full of merchandise and a censorship graphic over his crotch. Although beastfolk usually wear less clothes than humans, the beastfolk party members state that he's wearing way too little for an elf. Aegos states this is because he's a naturalist.
- Poke in the Third Eye: When Orwin uses their divination to check the party's surroundings, he sees Goddess Vyena, but quickly realizes that she's actually Matria in disguise. Matria detects their divination and disables this ability for the rest of the game.
- Rare Candy: This game has no levels or equipment, which means the only way to get stronger is to use permanent stat-boosting items. To balance this, progressing in the story unlocks more stat-boosting items in the Dungeon Shop.
- "Ray of Hope" Ending: Despite the party's efforts to escape from the Holy Order of Gemeid, the soldiers overwhelm them. The order kills Ronan, Orwin, and Kaeros, and then burns Isolde at stake. Isolde uses her last moments to pray to the real Vyena to give her a chance to take revenge on the order. The only consolation is that Vyena grants Isolde's wish by reincarnating her into Lyrelle, the protagonist of BlueSkies 2.
- Reincarnation: In the ending, Isolde is burnt at stake, but prays to Vyena to get revenge on Matria. Vyena hears her prayer and reincarnates Isolde as Lyrelle, the protagonist of BlueSkies 2.
- Resources Management Gameplay: The gameplay loop is based on Delvin: Origins in that there are a finite number of enemies and treasures, and the player can only buy from the Dungeon Shop once per area. Additionally, characters can only get stronger through stat-boosting items, making it important to play in a way that minimizes item usage so that more stat-boosts can be purchased instead of consumables.
- Robot Soldier: The Final Boss is a Machine Golem under the control of the Holy Order of Vyena, a Church Militant organization that wants to wipe out mages, and it has several human soldiers to back it up. In addition to being a large, hulking construct, the golem is capable of launching a powerful bomb at the party. It's ambiguous if this enemy is purely technological or it is a machine powered by magic.
- Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Kaeros is initially angered that Princess Isolde is seemingly ignoring the fall of the Respene Kingdom and the death of her father in favor of complaining about the lack of luxuries on the journey. He later realizes that she does feel grief and loss, but is lashing out at everyone around her.
- Squishy Wizard: Isolde and Orwin are the only ones in the party capable of using magic, have good offensive and support options, and have high MP, but they have the lowest HP as well as low physical defense.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Isolde starts out as a Royal Brat who demands luxuries even when the kingdom is burning, but realizes she was wrong to do so when her attitude causes Kaeros to temporarily leave the party. This also applies to her reincarnation, Lyrelle, who is polite and considerate from the start.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Although Chancellor Alexandria succeeds in killing nearly the entire population of the Respene Kingdom, Matria orders Rhetz to poison her so that the latter can become the next chancellor of the Holy Order of Gemeid.
- You Shall Not Pass!: King Garath holds off several soldiers from the Holy Order of Gemeid in order to allow the party to escape. He manages to kill several of them before going down.
