Steal a Brainrot (Video Game)

Did someone say La Vacca?
SpyderSammy during some Admin Abuse events

Steal a Brainrot is a Roblox game where you buy characters based on the A.I. Brainrot Animals meme, among a few other memes and guests, which generate income every few seconds, and the rarer and more expensive a Brainrot is, the more money will you get, allowing you to buy better Brainrots, purchase items and special abilities, and upgrade your base. However, as the title suggests, you can also steal Brainrots from other players, which will allow you to progress faster in the game. But don't let anyone steal from you.

Developed by SpyderSammy, the game was based on a similar game called Steal A Character, from which he later bought the concept. Borrowing some game mechanics from Grow a Garden, the game includes similar Admin Abuse events every Tuesday and Saturday, in which Sammy spawns very rare Brainrots that almost never appear during normal gameplay.

Steal A Brainrot became the biggest game on Roblox, as well as the biggest game in the entire world, dethroning Grow a Garden, which for a time held the record for the most CCUs in a video game, which in turn surpassed Fortnite.

Steal A Brainrot contains examples of these tropes:

  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In this game, Las Tralaleritas are pink to be consistent with Tralalita Tralala.
  • Adaptation Name Change: In many cases, this is a Justified Trope, as many Brainrots had Overly Long Names that needed to be shortened for gameplay such such as Garamararamraramanmararaman dan Madudungdungdung Tak Tuntung Perkuntung, which became simply "Garama and Madungdung". However, some Brainrots with short names also underwent changes, such as Frulli Frulla, which became "Fluriflura"; Bobrito Bandito, which became "Bandito Bobrito"; Tigrulli Grapefrutunni, which became Tigroligre Frutonni; Fuscão Cabeção, which became "Carrotini Brainini"; Tre Tigri Triste, which became "Toiletto Focaccino"; and, most famously, Canelloni Dragoni, which became "Dragon Canelloni".
  • Adaptation Species Change:
    • In the original Italian Brainrot memes, Noo La Polizia are depicted as human police officers, but in this game, they are depicted as burritos similar to Los Nooo My Hotspotsitos dressed as police officers. This may be due to SpyderSammy's Author Appeal for tacos, tortillas and other Mexican Food.
    • The Headless Horseman has his lowerhalf of his body of a horse, similar to a centaur.
  • Anthropomorphic Shift:
    • Unlike the original image, Graipussi Medussi has a face.
    • In the original image, Talpa Di Ferro is quadrupedal, but in the game, Talpa Di Ferro walks on two legs.
    • Tigrrulini Watermellini has four tiger legs, unlike the original image.
  • Be the Ball: Glorbo Fruttodrillo's walking animation isn't really a walking animation per se; it's him rolling around like a ball.
  • Bribing Your Way to Victory: You can only buy the best gears in the game like the Flying Carpet with Robux. You can also buy Lucky Blocks with Robux whenever you want, as they have a very low spawn rate during normal gameplay. And if you get trapped in another player's base or want to open it immediately from the outside, you can pay with Robux to unlock it instantly.
  • Bowdlerise:
    • Like many Brainrot games on Roblox, Graipussi Medussi's name was shortened to simply "Graipuss Medussi" because the word "pussi" sounds obscene to some people.
    • The game includes the song "Young Black & Rich" by Melly Mike during Admin Abuse events, but specifically the Radio Edit version, as the original song contains very foul language, including many mentions of the N-word.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • The first two non-Italian Brainrot memes added, Tim Cheese and Nyan Cat, were treated differently than later additions. Tim Cheese was classified as a Common Brainrot, making him one of the cheapest and easiest to find, while Nyan Cat was renamed "Gattatino Nyanino" and classified as a Brainrot God. All of this changed with the addition of Strawberry Elephant, which introduced the OG category. From then on, all non-Italian Brainrot memes prior to 2025 are classified as OG Brainrots by default. If Tim Cheese and Nyan Cat had been added after Strawberry Elephant, they would have immediately been classified as OG Brainrots. note
    • As a result of Art Evolution, Brainrots introduced earlier look cruder and simpler than later additions; compare Cocofanto Elefanto and Frigo Camelo, which look very basic and stylized, with Bananananito Bandito and Pirulitoita Bicicletaire, which, while still pixelated, are more detailed and more closely resemble their original images.
  • Idle Game: Just like its inspiration, Grow a Garden, your Brainrots will continue to generate income even when you aren't playing the game! note
  • Invisibility Cloak: You obtain a cloak of invisibility after Rebirth 4, which makes you faster and allows you to hide from other players, although, like other items in the game, its effect disappears when you grab a Brainrot.
  • Live Episode: A rare Video Game example. Every Tuesday and Saturday, Sammy will start Admin Abuse events, spawning very rare Brainrots and effects across the map. This is broadcast through all servers.
  • Made O' Gold: The Gold Mutation, which turns a Brainrot yellow/gold and increases its income by 1.25x.
  • Magic Carpet: The Magic Carpet, one of the gears that can be purchased with Robux, which allows the player fly across the map. Very useful for checking bases with more that one floor.
  • No Smoking: Unlike their original images, Bobrito Bandito and Espressona Signora had their cigars removed in this game.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Tralalero Tralala and Los Tralaleritos are blue, while their respective Distaff Counterparts, Tralalita Tralala and Las Tralaleritas are pink.
  • One-Steve Limit: The game does away with the debate about "two Trippi Troppis" by having the shrimp/cat Trippi Troppi keep his name, while the fish/bear Trippi Troppi uses the full name "Trippi Troppi Troppa Trippa".
  • Permanently Missable Content: Because the game constantly changes its machines every month, many Brainrots that can only be obtained from specific machines such as Ganganzelli Trulala, Ampali Babel, Malame Amarale, Penguino Cocosino, Tukanno Bannano, Ti Ti Ti Sahur, Trenostruzzo Turbo 4000, Brutto Gialutto or most seasonal Brainrots, are virtually impossible to obtain later. The same applies to Limited Time Mutations.
  • Public Domain Character: There's the Headless Horseman added in the Halloween update, and Cerberus, added in the Cursed update.
  • Sickly Green Glow: The Radioactive Mutation, which turns a Brainrot neon green and increases its income by 8.5x.
  • Starting Units: The Common Brainrot category is this, and as the name suggests, these are the most common Brainrots available. They generate very little income, but they're very cheap. If you're starting a new game, buy as many as you can to be prepared to acquire better Brainrots.
  • Swap Teleportation: The Body Swap Potion, which is obtained after Rebirth 10, can make you swap places with a different player. This can be very useful for forcing a player out of their base while you steal their Brainrots.
  • Taken for Granite: You can use the Medusa Head, which is obtained after Rebirth 5, to transform all other players in the area of effect into stone, leaving them immobile for 3 seconds.
  • Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: Most Distaff Counterparts of existing Brainrots such as Tralalita Tralala, Orcalita Orcala, Piccionetta Macchina, Pakrahmatmatina, Sigma Girl or Chicleteirina Bicicleteirina, are just pink versions of them with eyelashes and big bows.
  • Writing Around Trademarks: The Bat, the first gear in the game that comes by default, was called "Tung Bat" in earlier versions of the game, named after Tung Tung Tung Sahur. However, after Tung Tung Tung Sahur was removed from the game after a licensing dispute with its creator Noxa and the brand agency Mememtum Lab, its name was shortened to simply "Bat".
