Flavor Frenzy is a Tower Defense game created by Blushcrunch Studio on Roblox, who are the same group of developers who created the Mascot Horror game Dandy's World. It was first created on 11 April 2022. The game can be played here![]()
The game's form of towers are bears, which you can purchase from Cubert's shop and Honalee's shop; the former using sugar cubes to obtain and the latter requiring honey. Once you have your team of bears ready (the max being 6), you go to the docks in the lobby of your preferred difficulty (ranging from 1-6) and enter the boat of the map you want to play. Once the game loads and you are in that map, it gives you 500 gumdrops (in-game currency to place and upgrade your bears) and time to place down your bears where you want until your team is ready. The entrance(s) is where the enemies and bosses spawn from and the base(s) is the place you have to defend and has a health bar near it so you can distinguish it from the entrance. When you are all prepared, enemies, which are other food themed creatures, from the entrance will spawn and walk along the path towards your base. Your goal is to protect the base from the enemies by placing your bears strategically based on their class and upgrading them with gumdrops you get after each wave is conquered - you can also sell your bears to place them elsewhere, however the amount of gumdrops you receive will be less than what you spent. As the waves go on, the enemies become stronger but the more gumdrops you earn. On some maps, there are mini-bosses during the game that have higher health than the normal enemies and you can see their health bar under the wave number. On the final wave, you are met with a final boss that you must defeat to earn the badge of the map and the game finishes there and you can return to the lobby.
- The exception is both the Velvet Trials 1 and 2 as even when Caksune is defeated on wave 50, you can still go on as it is an endless mode. However, the players can choose to surrender after Wave 50 if they wish to no longer play which ends the game if their base hasn't already been depleted fully of its health.
Each bear has different mechanisms and abilities and are separated into 7 classes: ranged (with the most bears), effect, support, summoner, melee, area and pierce (with only 1 bear, Popsicle).
- Ranged bears, as their name suggests, have a large range to reach enemies from further away, and are therefore recommended to place further from the track, preferably behind bears of the other classes that can also do damage.
- Effect bears place a negative effect on their targeted enemy, causing a debuff (e.g. a stun like Jam does) or gradual/later on damage.
- Support bears don't do any damage, but they can help you throughout your run like giving you more gumdrops of buffing your bears.
- Summoners can spawn something on the track or at the base (that walk towards the entrance) that can be used as leak control if the other bears are stunned and cannot do damage.
- Melee bears have small range and are encouraged to place closer to the track, with either large damage or small cooldown.
- Area bears are towers that can do damage to all enemies in their range; if they have a combo, their effect will affect all enemies they can reach.
- Pierce bears can also do damage to multiple enemies at once, but only in a straight line where the enemies they are targeting are at: therefore, you should place them at straight paths and set their target to furthest so they can reach all the enemies there are in their range.
"I wish there were more tropes here you know? I've been itching for something fun!"
- All Just a Dream: After surrendering or losing in the Velvet Trials (1 and 2), the screen's background goes white and your rewards show up, with "But it was all just a dream..." replacing the usual "DEFEAT! The enemies have destroyed your base!"
- And Your Reward Is Clothes: After completing Chapter 2 and 4 of the Story mode, you are rewarded with Ube and Starfruit's Poison skins that when upgraded to level 5 are identical to the poisoned boss versions of themselves at the last wave of their chapters. When reaching level 30, 50, 70 and 90, you get:
- 30: Bookworm (Mocha, B tier)
- 50: Not yet released (will be an A tier skin)
- 70: Dining Skater (Bacon, A tier)
- 90: Cursed Ember (Pepper, S tier)
- Eyes Always Shut: Pomegranate and Bacon both have their eyes closed, even in all their level upgrades and skins.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: In chapter 2 of the story, A brother in need, Flan must help the 3 starters defeat Poison Ube despite knowing it's his brother still in there. This applies to chapter 4, Literary Aid, too as Mocha is well aware the boss he must help the bears defeat is his best friend Starfruit.
- My God, What Have I Done?: When Pepper gives Poison Ube the final blow in chapter 2 to defeat him, he realises that he had given him a deep cut in his right eye and instantly apologises
- No Focus on Humans: Although it is somewhat hinted during the Sinkhole Event that humans were involved in the closure of Sugarcube station, in-game there are only animals (minus human players).
- Shout-Out: In the Sinkhole Event, a silhouette of Dandy from 'Dandy's World' appears near the start of the event.
- The Virus: The events of the Story mode happen due to a bear called Poison (unsurprisingly) infecting the animals in the Flavor Frenzy universe and turning them into mind-controlled poison counterparts of themselves: it's up to Cupcake, Pepper and Sushi and the new bears they find along the way to save them and stop Poison.
