Centuries ago, a divine conflict started. Six gods ruled the world, but their treacherous member attempted to backstab them. A battle ignited in which all of them died. However, the traitor, Hades, summoned three dragons to exact revenge on the world.
Years later, Grodd Barker is chosen to be lawyer and to solve various cases, only few days before the three dragons are about to strike.

- Aerith and Bob: Grodd, Elok, Gen; and Daniel, Josh and Maria.
- Alternate Worldmap: There are three maps in the old version and four in the new version.
- Cerebus Syndrome: The first two cases are mere theft, the third and fourth are murders, the last starts with a village destroyed.
- Decoy Protagonist: Grodd only lasts until the part where they visit the king. Afterwards, he leaves the group and isn't encountered again.
- Heel–Face Turn: Both Jack and Daniel start out as antagonists, but are allies later on.
- Omnicidal Maniac: The three dragons are hellbent on wiping out the entire world.
- Shout-Out: Jack is a shout-out to Jack the Ghost, who was too evil for heaven, but couldn't go to hell for cheating the devil himself.
- The game has inspiration of Ace Attorney, at least for the first four acts with the hero playing the defense attorney and investigating cases.
