DashBored is an RPG Maker game released on June 13, 2016 on Steam and itch.io by Fading Club.
Having shut out the rest of the world, Nicolas "Nic" Kawamura leads a lonely and mundane life until the day he suddenly wakes up in the Garden, a pocket dimension populated by fellow outcasts. With hostile entities awaiting him at every turn, Nic is forced to fight alongside an eclectic bunch of misfits in order to survive. As he leads the cast through the Garden both by foot and by car, Nic finds out there's more at stake besides his own life, namely the fate of the dimension and the worlds beyond it.
On October, 2016 the game received Halloween Update, which included revamped sprites, a new party member, a secret boss and more locations, enemies, and secrets.
On June, 2017 it received an even bigger update by the name of DashBored: Justice, which added a whole new route, another new party member, a bunch of more locations and a sizable bunch of enemies.
Another Halloween Update came out on October, 2017 in the form of DashBored: Abduction, which added a new ending.
On October, 2019 the update New Beauty saw the cast and plenty of enemies receive major revamps to their spritework, with more graphical revamps being added on January, 2020 in the Clean Up-Date update. More revamps were added in the Ancient Suffering update on November, 2020 and Crystal Clear update on October, 2021.
A prequel by the name of NashBored was released on January 2, 2017.
DashBored contains examples of:
- Ax-Crazy: Milly is prepared to go to great heights to take pleasure in the suffering of others.
- Dungeon Shop: Jack sells his wares even in the dungeons.
- Joke Ending: The ending added in Abduction, inspired by the UFO endings in Silent Hill games.
- Save Point: You can save the game by talking to Midori.
- Two Girls to a Team: Midori and Eloise are the only female characters you can recruit to the party.
