"If there is any game for the Venezuelan bus enthusiasts, this is it. Do you find any Venezuelan buses in Super Mario World? No. So you can't argue, this is the definitive Venezuelan bus game."
CrazyBus: Presiona START
CrazyBus is an unlicensed Venezuelan Sega Genesis tech demo from 2004, created to test out the author's BASIC compiler and sound driver as well as act as a tutorial for said compiler. The game is rather infamous for its loud, randomly generated title theme. More info can be found here.![]()
Not to be confused with the "Crazy Bus" song from Arthur.
This game contains examples of:
- Bilingual Bonus: While most of the game is in Spanish, the title uses two English words that go entirely untranslated throughout the whole game.
- CamelCase: The game's title is CrazyBus, with the B capitalized with no space before it.
- Cap: The maximum distance you can reach is 65535 units, which can be instantly achieved by driving in reverse.
- Cult Soundtrack: The only audio track available in the game is the opening theme, which rose this game to Internet fame.
- GIS Syndrome: The backgrounds are all digitized photos.
- Gratuitous English: The title is in English, while the game itself is in Spanish. For the record, the words "crazy bus" would translate into said language as "autobus loco".
- Loading Screen: Features one when starting the game, after selecting your bus, and returning to the title screen.
- Never Trust a Title: The actual gameplay is fairly simple: the player can move the bus left and right, accruing points in the process.
- No Plot? No Problem!: You are put in control of bus and expected to drive it around. No reason for this is provided.
- Product Placement: With the exception of the school bus, all the playable vehicles are specific real-life models by Venezuelan, Brazilian, and Spanish bus manufacturers.
- Sensory Abuse: The title screen music is a series of bleeps and bloops that became infamous for how loud and piercing it is.
- Side View: The only perspective used is 2D, so the bus can only move left or right.
- Tech-Demo Game: The game was created to showcase the author's BASIC compiler that targets the Genesis architecture. It was also intended to showcase the sound driver included with the compiler.
- Truly Endless Game: As this game was created as what is essentially a tech demo, there is no actual ending nor way to lose.
- Wrap Around: Your selected bus will reappear at the opposite side of the screen from the one it left from.
