The plot itself is your basic "Giant Space Flea from Nowhere has attacked and you are our last hope" mixed with convoluted time travel mechanics (see the time travel tropes below). The gameplay mechanic and feature that is key to this game is the fact that you are playing on both screens. This means that if you're standing on a platform on one screen, you are at that same location in the other screen regardless of what stands below you.
This game provides examples of:
- Aerith and Bob: Nec, Twime, Skyla (planet), Wise (council), Luna, Nash.
- Aliens Are Bastards: Twime is conquering and destroying planets. Why? Excuse Plot, but still...
- Alien Invasion: Twime attacks Skyla.
- Call a Rabbit a "Smeerp": Five light-loops = five years?
- Determinator: We are informed that the Llhedar, the player's species, are this.
- Floating Platforms: A staple of the platformer genre.
- Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Twime to the characters.
- Hopeless Boss Fight: Nash faces Twime in the prologue, but is injured and yanked out of the past. This establishes that Twime cannot be effectively fought from only one point in time.
- Meaningful Name: Twime. She exists in two times simultaneously.
- Mission Control: Luna serves this to you.
- Psychic Powers: Llhedar, the player's species, have these on some level.
- Starfish Aliens: Twime seems to exist in two points in time simultaneously without any apparent aid.
- Take Up My Sword: Remember what was said about the prologue?
- Temporal Mutability: There are some obstacles in the present that vanish when you destroy them in the past and (oddly enough) vice-versa.
- Time Travel: You're from the present, going into the past to stop Twime.
- Timey-Wimey Ball: Some obstacles that exist in the past vanish when you destroy them in the present. What..?
- Youngest Child Wins: Nec, Nash's younger brother, is the character you play through the rest of the game post-prologue.
