Mega Man X: Command Mission

Go To

  • Do Not Do This Cool Thing: Lucas Gilbertson landed the role of Zero while playing hooky. He only bailed out since his sister was with him, who actually got the role of Ferham.
  • Feelies: The Mega Man Trading Card Game "Mega Man X" card came with copies of the game.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The game has never once saw a port, not even on the PS3's classics catalog.
  • Manual Misprint: Two major mistakes:
    • The Rebellion Army is mistranslated as the "Liberion" Army.
    • Colonel Redips' name is mispelled as "Rideps" in every instance. This was possibly on purpose to hide the Sdrawkcab Alias twist from perceptive readers, especially on pages with both Spider and Redips mentioned.
  • Orphaned Reference: In the Lagrano Ruins, there are capsules for eight combat Reploids and four high-performance Reploids, though X only sees half of them in the east block. Shadow deduces all twelve are now in the Rebellion. However, while the four high-performance ones are clearly the cadre, the eight combat ones are not all accounted for. That's because two bosses, Depth Dragoon and Rafflesian, were repurposed into non-Rebellion characters during the game's development, so this part subtly conflicts with their final backstories.
  • Preview Piggybacking: The PlayStation 2 version of the game features a demo of Mega Man X8.
  • Prop Recycling: The texture for Axl's face in this game is identical to the one used in Mega Man X7. This results in his model having large anime eyes compared to the smaller redesigned eyes of the rest of the cast.
  • Real-Life Relative: In the English release, both Zero and Ferham are voiced by siblings.
  • Romance on the Set: Lucas Gilbertson (the voice of Zero) and Carol Anne-Day (the voice of Marino) ended up getting married. (For hilarity, Carol also ended up voicing Iris in a(n unnoficial) redub of the Zero vs. Colonel fight at the Memorial Hall.)
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The Sky Room has concept art of ideas that never made it into the game. The biggest bombshell is two redesigns for Mega Man and Cut Man, implying they might've had a role at some point. There's also lots of unused armor designs for X, and the game's Maverick bosses have early names such as "Trine Cannonhorn", "Swallord Dandylance", and "Louid Incentas".
    • There's a Dummied Out model of X with his original design. When asked about this, Ryuji Higurashi said they chose to design his New Armor after realizing X's simple blue look was the most boring thing on the screen.
    • At first only X and Zero had Hyper Modes, but the staff felt it was unfair to the rest of the party, so they gave them to everyone. This is why they all share the same transformation animations and are simple redesigns, while X and Zero's are much more unique.
    • The original story was longer, containing three more chapters than the ten in the final build. However, Capcom mandated that the story be cut down (possibly due to time or budget constraints, more than out of a need for balance). Depth Dragoon, Rafflesian, and Duckbill Mole were planned as the bosses of these cut chapters to round off the typical "eight Mavericks" formula, so they were repurposed as bonus bosses.
