- Acting for Two:
- Maria Kawamura's voices both Lilith and Leccee. They even talk to one another in episode 18.
- Shunsuke Takamiya voices two different members of Posaydal's Elite 13, Baan-Gania and Hans.
- Creator Backlash: Mamoru Nagano expressed frustration and disappointment that in his words, L-Gaim was essentially abandoned once the crew started working on Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, with him being the only person with any real enthusiasm for the end of the project. Part of his creating The Five Star Stories was as a means to tell and finish the story of L-Gaim as he'd intended it.
- Follow the Leader: L-Gaim was produced as part of the post Mobile Suit Gundam Real Robot boom. It also takes a lot of cues from Star Wars, specifically the kooky pulp adventure setting and having an emperor as the Big Bad. The original trilogy movies are a personal favorite of Mamoru Nagano
(who, contrary to the popular opinion, was the actual mastermind behind L-Gaim - Yoshiyuki Tomino only directed the series and had no involvement with the plot) . - The Other Darrin:
- Amandara's original voice actor, Shinji Toyota, was replaced by Ryuichi Horibe late into the series due to the former's declining health.
- In the OVAs, Semuuj is voiced by Ryusuke Obayashi instead of Tesshō Genda, Baan-Gania by Unshō Ishizuka instead of Shunsuke Takamiya, Full Flat by Masako Katsuki instead of Mika Doi, and Amandara by Tatsuyuki Jinnai instead of Ryuichi Horibe.
