- Creator-Driven Successor: This was essentially Delphine Software International attempting at developing a successor to Another World without involving the designer of that game (Eric Chahi). Despite this, the game was mistaken for an official sequel. Unlike most examples that attempted this, Flashback was likewise a huge success that became a classic of its own.
- Franchise Ownership Acquisition: The 2013 remake was developed by the company of the original designer, Paul Cuisset, since Delphine Software was bankrupted by that point. Unfortunately, the game's financial flop killed the company in the same year.
- In Memoriam: The 2013 remake is dedicated to Christian Robert, a graphic artist for the original game who died in a car accident in October 2010.
- Polished Port: The Mac port by Presage and MacPlay had the graphics redone in higher resolution than the other versions. It was also the only one where the Save Points let you actually save your progress to a file.
- Port Overdosed: It's been published for Amiga, IBM PC-DOS, Macintosh, Sega Genesis (both as a cartridge and a CD), Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari Jaguar, Acorn Archimedes, FM Towns, PC-98, Philips CD-i, 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, and iPhone, with even more ports if you include the original game being included with the remastered 2013 release. Interestingly, the SNES port was released a year after the Genesis version, yet all of the cutscenes have different music.
- What Could Have Been:
- A sequel titled Flashback Legends was being made for the Game Boy Advance, but was canceled when Delphine went bankrupt. An incomplete beta ROM was later leaked.
- Spanish developer Mayhem Games had attempted to port the original game to J2ME mobile phones in the 2000s, but just as they finished the engine they ran out of money and could no longer afford to pay the license. Not wanting to let their work go to waste, it was later released as Cyberpunk: The Arasaka's Plot
