• The Stinger of the version of Disassembled posted onto Junaid's personal YouTube channel features The Avengers eating shawarma.
• Spider-Man is drawn to resemble Andrew Garfield and Gwen Stacy like Emma Stone. He also smashes his clock and has to retrieve eggs like in The Amazing Spider-Man 1. But Aunt May slaps him instead of hugging him like in the film.
• Jor-El in the Fortress of Solitude typically resembles the Marlon Brando version, but briefly changes to resemble Russell Crowe at one point.
• After the Hulk realizes Loki tried to trick him, he smashes him just he did in The Avengers film.
• As Captain America sneaks through the SHIELD Base, pictures of various agents hang behind him, such as Coulson or Maria Hill.
• In Batman:
  • Batman's mansion has portraits of all the actors who portrayed him.
  • One of his leaps matches the cover of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, and his battle of the roof with crooks resembles the opening to Batman: The Animated Series.
  • Robin's punches make "Pow!" effects.
  • Commissioner Gordon resembles Gary Oldman, who portrayed him in The Dark Knight Trilogy.
• Hulk's episode has some music sounding similar to cues from the 2003 movie and the 1970s TV show.
• In The Walking Dead:
  • The short makes liberal use of plot elements from early installments in the series.
  • Rick Grimes using a disconnected phone to "call" Lori comes from season 3 of the TV show The Walking Dead.
• Thanos' episode references the Deadpool story Funeral for a Freak, in which Deadpool dated Mistress Death. Thanos was not pleased.
• As in her 1975 TV show, Wonder Woman spins to suit up.
• The entirety of the Man of Steel episode revolves around Superman mourning the loss of his red Underwear of Power, which was infamously omitted from the uniform in the film.
• In Wolverine:
  • The events of Episode 23 are based around the plot of The Wolverine, with Logan in Japan, accompanied by Yukio and Mariko Yashida.
  • Cyclops crashes his plane into a billboard advertising "Days of Future - Leather", next to 20th Century Fox's building.
• The Teen Titans at the end of Justice League use their designs from their animated show Teen Titans (2003).
• Loki summoning Hulk to fight Thor and the army calling in Wolverine to fight Hulk reference the Hulk Vs. films.
• In Batman And Joker:
  • When Batman chases Joker down the Tunnel of Love at a carnival, he pulls out various Robins to use as Human Shields, including Carrie Kelly, Jason Todd, and Dick Grayson.
  • Robin gets eaten by a shark but survives using shark repellant spray. Soon after he transforms into Nightwing.
  • At the very end, Joker's cellphone gets hacked by Barbara "Oracle" Gordon.
• Stan Lee's cameo in the episode about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 recycles a gag from Spider-Man: The Animated Series, in which Spidey leaves Stan on a rooftop, and Stan wonders how he'll get back onto the ground.
• Graves at the cemetery at the beginning of the X-Men: Days of Future Past episode state that Cyclops "Died at a lake (We're not sure...it was weird)", and that Toad "got struck by lightning and died".
• In Ant-Man:
  • The Wasp has a yellow dress, yellow headphones, and Anime Hair, making her appearance similar to The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
  • Pictures hanging on a wall show Ant-Man building Ultron, who then turns evil, causing the other Avengers to kick off Ant-Man.
  • Ant-Man blows off steam by transforming into Yellowjacket, and committing evil deeds.
• The Planet of the Apes episode has appearances by two cast members of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (James Franco, in sketch form, and Andy Serkis) and one from the 2001 Planet of the Apes remake (Mark Wahlberg).
• Guardians of the Galaxy features the Thanos-copter, from The Electric Company (1971) spin-off comic Spidey Super Stories.
• In the third Superman short:
  • Some of the misdeeds Superman commits under the influence of Red Kryptonite include straightening the Leaning Tower of Pisa, much to the annoyance of a souvenir salesman, remaking Mount Rushmore in his own image, and shamelessly destroying Metropolis while fighting one of his foes.
  • Batman beats up Superman in a large mech suit at the end, referencing Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and possibly also Batman v Superman.

• Nick Fury's bad day in Disassembled involves snakes piling in his plane.
• Baxter Building has a large observatory dome and telescope on its roof just like Mojo Jojo's evil lair.
• The Blob squishing Scarlet Witch causes her feet to roll up like those of the flattened Wicked Witch of the East from The Wizard Of Oz.
• Harley Quinn repeats a classic Looney Tunes gag when Penguin asks for "two" (scoops of sugar) and Harley responds by hitting him twice with a hammer.
• Happy Hogan, who Jon Favreau played in the Iron Man films, plays with figures of a cowboy and an alien.
• The Ninja Turtles' base has a poster for Michael Bay's Space Turtles From Space.
• The Walking Dead features one sequence where zombies approach from the left while Rick shoots them from the right. This is the setup for the flash game The Last Stand.
• The Star Trek episode has Stan Lee singing "Hello, my baby, hello my honey, Hello my ragtime gal..." during his cameo.
• In Namor The Sub-Mariner:
  • A crab that bears a distinct resemblance to Sebastian appears near Namor's throne.In the same scene, a sponge and a starfish wearing swim trunks can be seen in the background.
  • Johnny Storm mistakes Namor for Spock and gives him the Vulcan salute.
• In the second Superman episode:
  • When Stan Lee finds Superman crying in an alley, Stan yells, "Get off the street, you lazy bum! You gave up on life, didn't you?"
  • Superman's whining and crying to Lois in the phone booth is framed similarly to Ron Burgundy's "I'm in a glass case of emotion!" breakdown.
• In Wolverine:
  • The Sentinel at the end of Wolverine's episode (which takes place in Japan) is defeated by Godzilla.
  • Wolverine goes to Paris and steals a loaf of bread, paralleling another character Hugh Jackman portrayed. The reference becomes more obvious when Russell Crowe, as Inspector Javert, quickly handcuffs Wolverine, and an instrumental of "Look Down" plays.
  • An instrumental of Édith Piaf's "La Vie en Rose" plays before Javert interrupts.
• After The Flash fails to get a cat out of a tree, he hops and blows a raspberry like the Road Runner.
• Godzilla encounters Roland Emmerich relaxing in a hot tub, next to posters for Independence Day and 2012. Both of those movies, plus Godzilla (1998), had Emmerich as the director.
• In Ant-Man:
  • When Ant-Man is going on a rampage as Yellowjacket, he decides to have a shoot-out at a burger joint, a reference to another Michael Douglas role.
  • At the close, Stan Lee tells the viewers, "Good night, everybody!" in a tone similar to Yakko Warner.
• In Planet of the Apes:
  • The scene of an ape playing fetch with a human evokes 2001: A Space Odyssey.
  • The death of Taylor parallels Old Yeller.
• In Guardians of the Galaxy (2014):
  • The herring sandwich reportedly references the animated short Haring, which came from the same animation studio as Bad Days, and became attached to Dutch theatrical prints of the Guardians movie.
  • David Hasselhoff, who recorded a Narm-tastic cover of the Guardians' unofficial theme song, "Hooked on a Feeling", botches a karaoke version of the same song.
  • Star-Lord plays with LEGO figures of Emmet Brickowski and Wyldstyle, and assumes Andy Dwyer's alias of Burt Macklin. Star-Lord, Emmet, and Andy all have Chris Pratt as an actor.
  • Drax attacks Thanos with a (very poorly animated) Batista Bomb.
  • A creature from Slither and Demonswill appear in the bar, and The Holy Avenger appears outside the bar. All three characters reference other films James Gunn has directed.
