Young Sheldon S 7 E 08 An Ankle Monitor And A Big Plastic Crap House

Go To

"An Ankle Monitor and a Big Plastic Crap House" is an episode of Young Sheldon that first aired April 18, 2024.

Connie is placed under house arrest. Sheldon studies to take the bar exam, intending to claim insanity to keep Connie out of prison. Connie initially likes Sheldon's plan, but changes her mind after he points out that she will probably be placed in an asylum.

Dale's nephew is a lawyer, so Dale asks him for advice, and he says that Connie should plead guilty. While she would lose the business, and have to pay a large fine, she would avoid prison. She reluctantly accepts.

Meanwhile, the toilet at the Cooper house gets clogged. George calls a plumber, who finds out that the septic tank is broken; the Coopers do not have enough money to repair it. George and Georgie get a port-a-potty from the high school, used by visiting football teams, and bring it to the Cooper house.

Meanwhile, Georgie & Mandy decide to stay with Mandy's parents for the time being. Georgie tries to impress Audrey, but she is very passive-aggressive towards him. Eventually, he gets a job at the grocery store, and Audrey finally warms up enough to let Jim hire him at the tire store.

At the end, it is revealed that Connie stored money in the walls of the Cooper house, behind a picture frame. She withdraws some of the money to pay legal fees, and Mary sees her. Connie then gives Mary enough money to fix the toilet.

Tropes:

  • Brick Joke: Mary tells Connie that a snake got into the port-a-potty earlier and as they're talking, Missy comes running in, yelling that the snake is back. The Stinger of the episode has George encountering the same snake.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Sheldon imagines that the port-a-potty is the Doctor's TARDIS from Doctor Who, while imagining himself as the Doctor - specifically, the Seventh Doctor, as portrayed by Sylvester McCoy. Jim McCallister's actor, Will Sasso, previously played a minor role in the 1996 TV movie, during which his character was present when the Seventh Doctor regenerated into Paul McGann's Eighth Doctor.
  • Concealing Canvas: Connie had money hidden inside the Cooper's home, hidden behind a picture in the dining room wall.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Apparently, George picked on the plumber back when they were in school together, and the plumber is quite happy to withhold any discount on the septic tank.
  • Insanity Defence: Sheldon's suggestion for getting Connie out of prison. Unfortunately, Connie finds out that she would end up in an asylum instead.
  • Potty Emergency: Sheldon can't bring himself to use the port-a-potty, so he ends up going in the Sparks' chicken coop.
  • Shout-Out: Sheldon tries to get over his dislike of the port-a-potty by pretending that he is Doctor Who and the potty is the TARDIS. It fails.
