The appearance of a stranger in the Candy Kingdom causes Finn to grow jealous.

- Big "YES!": During Finn and Jake's conversation with Ricardio when they're trying to figure out if he's up to something evil or not, Finn and Ricardio end up trying to outdo each other with the word, "Yeah."
Finn: I could stop you if I wanted!
Ricardio: Oh, yeah?
Finn: Yeah!
Ricardio: Oh, yeah?!
Finn: YEEEAAAH!!!
- Call-Back: Jake pretending to be Princess Bubblegum using his rear end in the beginning of the episode is replicated by Princess Bubblegum after Finn and Jake save her from Ricardio.
- Can't Live Without You: Ricardio is literally the Ice King's heart, so without him he slowly grows weak and will die if he doesn't get him back.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Lampshaded several times when Jake and Finn are analyzing Ricardio.
Jake: Some people look wicked but are super nice.
- Everyone Has Standards: Despite Ice King being an enemy, seeing him crawl on the floor to reclaim Ricardio before he could die makes Finn and Jake look on with pity. When Finn questioned if they should allow Ice King to get his heart back knowing he is still a villain, Jake tells him that he doesn't want to see him die like that and even then, from the tone of Finn's voice, it sounded like even he didn't think Ice King deserved to die in such a way.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Although Ice King always kidnap the Princesses, mostly Princess Bubblegum, he never wanted her to get killed or have her heart ripped out by Ricardio.
- Grievous Bottley Harm: Ricardio wields a broken bottle to cut out Princess Bubblegum's heart.
- Gross-Up Close-Up: There's a close up of Ricardio grinning evilly as he announces his plan to cut out Princess Bubblegum's heart and "make out with it".
- Hijacked by Ganon: Ricardio was created by the Ice King's magic.
- Horrifying Heart: Ricardio is a walking heartnote he looks like a Heart Symbol, but he's the actual organ, making him a twofer with Wicked Heart Symbol who was the result of a love spell gone wrong that separated him from the Ice King. While Finn believes that he is evil because the Ice King himself cannot be trusted, the citizens of Ooo are easily persuaded by his charming personality. It isn't until he plays his hand at trying to kill Princess Bubblegum that Finn is able to stop him and he is absorbed back into the Ice King's chest.
- Literal Ass-Kissing: Jake warps his hindquarters into Princess Bubblegum's form. Finn then goads the Ice King into kissing "Princess Bubblegum," then gleefully reveals that Ice King has just kissed Jake's butt.
- Organ Autonomy: Ricardio is a cartoony animated heart. The heart of the Ice King, to be precise.
- Reading Lips: While eavesdropping on Princess Bubblegum and Ricardio, Jake claims he can read their lips. Though it's pretty clear he's just making stuff up to mess with Finn, whom he thinks is over-reacting from jealousy.
Jake: [as Bubblegum] Hey, shorty! You should pick your boogers, and then fart. [as Ricardio] You look kinda like a big pink baguette.
- Subverted Suspicion Aesop: Just when it looks like Ricardio isn't a bad guy after all, the Ice King reveals that Finn had every right to be worried.
- Talk About That Thing: After Finn's outburst at the party, Jake takes him aside with the excuse "Hey Finn, you gotta come help slay these peanut monsters at the bar."
- Techno Babble: Ricardio and Princess Bubblegum's conversations are loaded with nonsensical technical speak.
- We Will Meet Again: As he sinks into the Ice King's chest, Ricardio slowly says "See you guys later."
- What Is This Feeling?: Finn doesn't seem to be familiar with the feeling of jealousy, and stubbornly refuses to admit that's what he feels.
- Wicked Heart Symbol: Ricardio the Heart Guy is an actual red heart with a face, arms, and legs. He manipulates Princess Bubblegum with the intention of cutting out her heart.
- Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Ricardio goads Finn into punching him just in time for Princess Bubblegum to arrive, so he can get her on her own.
