Basic Trope: A character gets so big that they outgrow the building they're in.
- Straight: Hugo is a Sizeshifter. He grows to a large size while in his house, and ends up breaking through the roof.
- Exaggerated: Hugo grows so large that he outgrows the entire planet he's on.
- Downplayed: Hugo ends up growing to a fairly large size and denting the ceiling.
- Justified:
- Hugo didn't realize he was going to grow in size (especially if he also doesn't have control over his powers) and had no opportunity to leave the building first.
- Hugo had an Overnight Age-Up to a seventeen-year-old while sleeping in the sized for eight-year-olds treehouse.
- Inverted:
- Hugo's house starts shrinking while he's inside of it, and he has to find a way out before he gets crushed.
- Hugo starts shrinking until he's Literally Falling Through the Cracks.
- Subverted: Hugo tests a device that should make him grow and he grows out of the place only to find it’s a shrinking ray and the building just shrunk.
- Double Subverted: ???
- Parodied: ???
- Zig-Zagged: ???
- Averted:
- Hugo isn't in a building when he grows to a larger size.
- Hugo doesn't grow large enough to cause any damage to the building.
- Lampshaded: ???
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Hugo is trapped in a building, so he uses his Sizeshifter powers to break himself out.
- Defied: Hugo leaves the building before he activates his powers, or at least goes to a building with a wide-open space (e.g. a gym).
- Discussed: "How could you have done all this damage to your roof?!" "I grew to a massive size and broke through the roof. No, really."
- Conversed: "I bet Hugo spends a lot of money on home insurance and repairs."
