In his early years growing up in Los Angeles, he was introduced to Soul music due to his father, Tyrone Griffin being a member of the funk band, Lakeside. But he was also a gang member in the Bloods and his brother was a Crips member.
Eventually, he learned to play a variety of instruments and began being a guest singer in a number of songs before going on to have his solo career.
He collaborated with Kanye West as Y$ for VULTURES and VULTURES 2.
