Im Na-yeon (Hangul: 임나연; born September 22, 1995), known professionally as Nayeon, is a South Korean singer, best known for being a member of the K-pop girl group TWICE.
In May 2022, JYP Entertainment announced that Nayeon would be making her solo debut with her self-titled extended play Im Nayeon, released June 24 of that year, making her the first Twice member to have an official solo debut. Her solo work is largely R&B-focused with some dance-pop and bubblegum.
The first EP peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200, making her the first female Korean soloist to make the top ten (and second to chart at all, after BoA with her self-titled 2009 English album). A year later, a performance video of "No Problem", featuring Felix of Stray Kids, was uploaded to the official Twice YouTube channel. Follow-up EP Na, released in 2024, led to her making occasional solo festival appearances, starting with Waterbomb less than a month after its release. In the same year, she did the Korean version of "Beyond" from Moana 2.

Filmography:
- Dream High 2 (cameo as Jung Ui-bong's dance partner) (2012)
Trope, trope, trope! Uh-uh!:
- Album Closure: Jazzy ballad "Sunset" closes her self-titled EP.
- Auto-Tune: Noticeable in the English song "No Problem", presumably to reduce her accent.
- Bilingual Bonus: In the M/V for Nayeon's debut single Pop
, her full name "Im Nayeon" is given prominence towards the end as Hollywood signage on a large stage. As pointed out by TWICE's Jeongyeon during the reaction
video, it's relatively easy to turn "Im Nayeon" into "I'm Nayeon", which happens twice during the video, once when she throws her jacket up to hang off the "I" (where it stays until the end) and at the end when she's lying over a smaller sign and lazily hangs her hand between the "I" and "M". - Bookends: The "ABCD" video begins and ends with a car with an unseen driver.
- Busby Berkeley Number: There are some shots of pool dancers in the last third of the "Pop!" video.
- Call-Back: "ABCD" choreography features a move from "One Spark" choreography.
- Dance of Romance: Mentioned in Felix’s verse in "No Problem"."Come ride with me,
We can dance tonight
Yeah under the stars tonight" - Double-Meaning Title:
- Im Nayeon means both her full name and "I'm Nayeon." The music video for "POP!" adds to this by Nayeon putting her finger as the apostrophe for the Im for her name.
- Na is the first part of her name and also the Korean word for "me". It is also the symbol of the element sodium, whose atomic weight is 22.9 (like the 22nd of September, Nayeon's birthday).
- Drives Like Crazy: The unseen driver (suspected to be Nayeon) at the beginning of the "ABCD" video drives recklessly and crashes through a bus stop shelter. Nayeon is first seen casually walking by a nasty crash site after the car appeared to have tried to jump over two others and got stuck in between.
- Happy Birthday to You!: Alluded to, at least in a figurative sense, with a song with that name."Congratulations on your present day like a gift to me" (English translation
) - Hotter and Sexier: Her second EP Na is this compared to her solo debut, with the title track "ABCD" featuring more sensual lyrics and choreography than in "Pop". Special shout out to the move where opens her legs and places her hand on her crotch!
- Intercourse with You: "Candyfloss" is not entirely about candy."That candyfloss, I love the most, it spreads in my mouth
Everywhere that spreads on my tongue, the light turns on
Dip it in, get a taste, dazed just by touching it, hey
That candyfloss I love the most that, ooh yeah, candyfloss" - Ms. Fanservice: She puts on a cute-sexy image with an Unlimited Wardrobe of revealing outfits in the "Pop!" video. This is further cranked up for her next comeback, "ABCD", and the EP that it's part of called Na. Na itself features multiple songs with more strongly sensual & innuendo-laden lyrics, and the video for "ABCD" and subsequent live performances all have her in Y2K-inspired looks with more mature choreography and more western style makeup to match the sexy 2000's popstar aesthetic.
- Self-Titled Album: Im Nayeon
- Singer-Songwriter: As of NA, Nayeon has 10 lyricist credits, including 2 songs on her solo EP.
- Solo Side Project: Nayeon continues to be, first and foremost, a member of TWICE. The group's Between 1&2 EP was released just two months after Nayeon's self-titled solo EP.
- Soprano and Gravel: in "No Problem" Nayeon's bright and cute voice contrasts with Felix's husky voice.
- Special Guest:
- Im Nayeon has Felix from Stray Kids on "No Problem" and Wonstein on "Love Countdown".
- Na has Sam Kim on "Heaven" and Julie from Kiss of Life on "Magic".
- Title-Only Chorus: "Pop!" - The "uh-uh" is more scatting than anything else."Pop, pop, pop! Uh-uh!"
- Unlimited Wardrobe: She wears over ten different outfits in the "Pop!" video.
- A Wild Rapper Appears!: On an album with no rapping elsewhere:
- Felix of Stray Kids shows up on "No Problem"
- Korean soloist Wonstein has a rap on "Love Countdown"
