Slowly Going the Way of the Tropes:

  • Christian Rock: Their early songs deal with religion and spirituality, but Mike doesn't like his band to be referred as such. However, they did contribute to the official soundtrack to The Passion of the Christ with their song, "The Empire" featuring Mark Hoppus. Said soundtrack features established Christian-genre musicians such as Kirk Franklin and P.O.D. (Band).
    • "Buildings Tumble" from "The Ever Passing Moment" contains the lyric, "let the weak say I am strong", which is from Joel 3:10.
  • Christmas Songs: Punk Rawk Christmas is a compilation of previously released and new Christmas/holiday music.
  • Cover Album: They released On the Cover in 1995, and On the Cover II in 2009.
  • Cover Version:
    • "Sick Boy" by Social Distortion on Let It Happen
    • They covered the theme song to Scooby-Doo (2002), written by Mook and Raleigh
    • "Franco Un-American" is originally by NOFX. Herrera and co. updated the lyrics, with references to fake news from Facebook and name-dropping Joe Rogan. Whereas the original cover artwork for The War on Errorism features a clown caricature of George W. Bush, the artwork for the MxPx version features one of Mitch McConnell.
  • Hidden Track: Secret Weapon has "Song About Nothing" embedded after "Tightly Wound". The intermission is about 2 minutes.
  • Obsession Song: "Wrecking Hotel Rooms" is about a stalker.
  • Self-Titled Album: Theirs was released in 2018. This one is notable for being crowdfunded through Kickstarter.
  • Shout-Out: "Friday Tonight" gives one to Friday. The chorus includes "you're in the kitchen... the goddamn refrigerator". The bridge incorporates the "win some, lose some" speech that Mr. Jones gives Craig.
