LOOSSEMBLE (Music)
Standing L-R: HyunJin, HyeJu, YeoJin. Seated L-R: Go Won, ViVi.

LOOSSEMBLE is a South Korean girl group that debuted on September 15th, 2023. The group is comprised of members from then-upcoming group LOONA following the members' high-profile legal dispute with their company BlockBerry Creative (which each member won in 2023) The five members signed under newly established company CTD E&M.

LOOSSEMBLE would later end their contracts with CTD E&M at the end of November 2024, leaving their current status unknown. Shortly after, HyunJin announced the release of a solo single that was teased through the LOOSSEMBLE account, despite the members unfollowing said account after their contract termination.

Sensitively tropin':

  • Alien Invasion: "Girls' Night" shows an unknown invading army of robot drones targeting the girls, and succeed in capturing YeoJin.
  • All Just a Dream: The ending for "Sensitive" shows HyunJin waking up in a cryopod on a spaceship, with the implication that everything we see beforehand is a simulation based on the girls' memories.
  • Ambiguous Situation: There's a lot we still don't know about how the members ended up where they are in-universe, though the storyline clearly draws parallels to real life by referencing their history in LOONA.
  • Animal Motifs: The girls continue to be associated with their representative animals in LOONA, with the sole exception of YeoJin. For reference:
    • HyunJin - cat
    • YeoJin - bear (changed from a frog)
    • ViVi - deer
    • Go Won - butterfly
    • HyeJu - wolf
  • Big Damn Reunion: After waking up from cryosleep, HyunJin finds ViVi piloting the spaceship and hugs her.
    HyunJin: Unnie...
    ViVi: (Turns around) You're here.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Unlike the previous two MVs that came before it, "TTYL" does not feature a post-credits scene.
  • Call-Back: Much of the imagery featured in "TTYL" heavily references the lore of the LOONAverse.
    • The presence of goldfish and betta fish in overlapping shots of HyunJin and HyeJu is a reference to JinSoul and her connection with both members (serving as a contrast to the former and featuring in the latter's solo).
    • A chandelier features in Go Won's individual shot like in the MV for "One&Only". As she touches it, the garden of Eden materializes around her, which also counts as Irony considering the lyric, "I don't need no garden of Eden". Alternatively, this could be interpreted as her creating her own Eden.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Like their representative animals, the girls are associated with the same signature colors in LOONA. For reference:
    • HyunJin - yellow
    • YeoJin - orange
    • ViVi - pastel rose
    • Go Won - eden green
    • HyeJu - gray / silver
  • Five-Man Band: This dynamic is present in the group's lore, which depicts them as a space crew and even fulfilling classic archetypes that come with this trope.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: ViVi sports blonde hair in Girls' Night and "TTYL", and is certainly kind-hearted and gentle.
  • Holographic Terminal: ViVi is seen controlling one at the end of "Sensitive".
  • Love Triangle: This happens for both "Cotton Candy" and "Confessions."
  • Mental Time Travel: Seems to be what's happening to the members as their bodies are shown to be sleeping in cryopods at the end of "Sensitive." This would also potentially explain why we see two older women at the start reverting back to Go Won and HyeJu.
  • Mood Whiplash: For the first three minutes, "Sensitive" is your standard K-pop MV and is rather bright in tone. Then, once the song ends, it shifts course into what feels like the ending of a sci-fi film showing the girls on a spaceship!
    • "Girls' Night" follows this trend, though the sci-fi elements are shown more throughout this time. Once again, the song and MV mostly show the girls dancing and partying, but then the looming threat of the strange alien drones watching the girls comes to a head as by the end, it's revealed the mysterious invaders captured YeoJin.
    • "TTYL" approaches this in a somewhat opposite direction compared to the previous two. The MV picks up where "Girls' Night" left off with YeoJin running away from her captors and towards her members who reach out to her. What seemed to be a suspenseful opening scene is immediately followed by the song's catchy, upbeat intro, though surreal and mysterious imagery is still present throughout the MV.
  • Or Was It a Dream?: Everything we see for the first three minutes of "Sensitive" before The Reveal seem to indicate that everything was a dream, yet there's one rather unsettling shot of a shadowed figure watching the girls from afar.
  • Pretty Butterflies: There are a few points where the girls have butterflies on their clothes, heavily tying to the symbolism of change that they represented in LOONA's lore.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The final shot of ViVi in "Girls' Night" shows her eyes glowing an ominous red. Why this happens is unknown for now.
  • The Remake: "Cotton Candy" and "Confessions" are both remakes of an unreleased song by girl group Boys World known by the latter title, using the same instrumental but different lyrics.
  • Robot Girl: Despite appearing and acting quite human, ViVi is an android, explaining why she was the only one awake on the spaceship before HyunJin.
  • Singer-Songwriter: Every member has had at least one writing credit for each release.
  • The Stinger: The first two music videos for "Sensitive" and "Girls' Night" respectively have an extra minute or so to showcase the group's storyline.
  • Wham Shot: In "Sensitive", the song ends with a shot of the car the members were in coming to a halt as the members vanish in a flash of light. While that would've been a good enough Cliffhanger ending, the next shot sees HyunJin waking up from a futuristic cryopod and seeing a total of twelve pods, most of which are empty aside from a few which indicate the other members aside from her and ViVi are still inside.
