You could've had my love, but you been so out of
Touch, touch, touch, touch, touch..."
They could describe every page with one single word. Ya know?
Katseye (stylized KATSEYE, pronounced "cat's eye") is a pop Girl Group based in the United States. The group was created over the course of the 2023 talent show Dream Academy, a collaboration between South Korean entertainment company HYBE and American label Geffen Records to create a global girl group whose production and marketing would blend aspects of the Korean and American music industries. The formation of the group was also explored in the Netflix documentary Pop Star Academy: Katseye.
Its six members, many of whom had entertainment industry experience before joining the group, are Sophia Laforteza, Lara Rajagopalan, Yoonchae Jeung, Megan Skiendiel, Daniela Avanzini, and Manon Bannerman.
Katseye released their debut single (aptly titled "Debut") in June 2024, and followed it up with the single "Touch". Both were featured in their EP SIS (Soft Is Strong). In 2025, they began promotion for their second EP Beautiful Chaos with the single "Gnarly".
In February 2026, the group announced that Manon was taking a hiatus from Katseye activities, and she is thus missing from both the recording and music video for their single "Pinky Up" released in April of that year, as well as the group's first Coachella performance (though she was in attendance and appeared onstage with PinkPantheress).
Not to be confused with anything named Cats Eye.

I'm The Trope!:
- Affectionate Parody: The music video for "Gabriela" lovingly parodies telenovelas. A conflict kicked off by the girls' boss results in an MV with grainy cinematography, Spanish subtitles, big hair, catfights, extravagant dresses, wedding sabotage, and overacting set to a song that involves a Spanish verse and Latin-toned guitar.
- Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: All of the girls at some point, until it becomes the closest thing to a team uniform. Worth noting is that Yoonchae has become known for the triangle hem that shows less skin and nearly hides the navel, with the intention of making her waist look narrower.
- Be Yourself: "My Way" is about living life in their own way.
- Busby Berkeley Number: The Gap commercial, involving all of Katseye and thirty additional dancers for a very elaborate routine, even ending with a ceiling shot.
- The Cameo:
- Jessica Alba appears in the beginning of "Gabriela" as the CEO of Gabriela Enterprises.
- Katseye themselves in this commercial.

- Covered in Gunge: They got slimed at the 2025 Kids Choice Awards.
- Darker and Edgier: The brash hyperpop single Gnarly was a complete 180 turn from the the dreamy, bubblegum pop sound of SIS, aiming to usher in a new era that better represented the chaotic, messy personality of the girls in real life. A Beautiful Chaos, if you will.
- "Days of the Week" Song: The first verse of "Touch" describes losing interest over the course of a week:"Monday, I was dreaming 'bout ya
Tuesday, I was waiting near the phone
Two days, wasn't hearing from ya
Yeah, what can I say? Oh, baby, I was getting bored
Thursday, I was losing interest
Friday, you were out there in the cold
Weekend, you already missed it
I was moving on 'cause you were moving too slow..." - Deadpan Snarker: Yoonchae is often the one to deliver the most blunt or sarcastic remarks during interviews and behind-the-scenes content.
- Denser and Wackier: Compared to the consistent bubblegum gum sound in their debut EP, A Beautiful Chaos takes a much more colorful, topsy-turvy image, especially Gnarly, that defines their personalities better and opens the opportunity to trying new genres and visuals. Every song from the EP sounds different with its own vibe and tone.
- The Dog Was the Mastermind: The ending of the music video for "Gabriela". Gabriela was the CEO's Right Hand Pet the whole time.
- Dynamic Entry: Megan had taken ill sometime before the Halloween 2024 event, further emphasised by all the remaining girls dressing up as 5 of the members of Winx Club, and someone bringing in a cardboard cutout of Megan (somehow also dressed up) to stand in for her. Cue Megan, well enough to leap into frame, break the standee with a single punch, and loudly declaring "I'M BACK!!"
- Female Empowerment Song:
- "Mean Girls" is about supporting all kinds of women, from sweet to mean to free to T and in-between girls.
- "M.I.A" centers around woman being in control and having freedom to do everything.
- Fingore: In the video for "Gabriela", Lara hacks one of Daniela's fingers off. Cue spurts of blood and screaming before it's eventually revealed to be a set.
- Fun Personified: Pretty much all the girls, but especially Manon, who is often seen laughing and making jokes during interviews.
- Fun with Acronyms: Their debut EP, SIS (Soft Is Strong).
- Genki Girl: All of the girls are incredibly energetic and bubbly, especially Manon, Megan, and Dani.
- Head-Turning Beauty: The titular temptress of "Gabriela", described as having "everybody's eyes undressing [her]" and as someone who could have anybody she wanted.
- Inelegant Blubbering: All the girls were reduced to hysterics when they learned they had been nominated for their first Grammy.
- Large Ham: Lara is the most expressive and dramatic member of the group.
- Long Hair Is Feminine: Another rarity for a girl group of this size - all of them have equally long hair (likely because they're inherently unique in many other ways).
- Lyrical Cold Open:
- "Debut" opened with Manon singing "La, la-la La-la-la, la, la".
- "Touch" started with Sophia singing the chorus part.
- How Yoonchae opens "Gnarly"."They could describe everything with one single word
Ya know?"
- Multilingual Song:
- "Gabriela" is mostly in English, has a Spanish bridge sung by Daniela, the Latina member. Fittingly, the music video is a telenovela parody.
- "Flame" has lyrics in both Chinese and Korean (plus a single word in Spanish, fuego).
- "Time Lapse" is mostly in English, with Yoonchae (and Lara during the adlibs in last chorus) mostly sing the Korean part.
- Multinational Team:
- They were conceived and are marketed as a "global girl group", and have members from diverse backgrounds. Manon is Swiss-Italian-Ghaniannote , Sophia is Filipinanote , Daniela is Latin-Americannote , Lara is Indian-Americannote , Megan is Chinese-Americannote , and Yoonchae is Korean.
- Their diverse background also applied to their collaboration doll with Monster High, Manon as African sea spirit Mami Watanote , Sophia as Philippines vampire Mananaggal, Daniela as Latin American werewolf El Chupa Cabras, Lara as Indian shapeshifting demon Rakshasa, Megan as Chinese fox spirit Húli Jīng, and Yoonchae as Korean white tiger spirit Jangsanbeom.
- Mythology Gag:
- During Megan's part in the first verse of "Gnarly", right as she sings "Oh my god that new beat" she leans forward with her hands under her chin in the same pose of the dance to the chorus of "Touch", only for Manon to slap her ass as the other members look on with shocked faces.
- The “M.I.A” Visualizer begins with Yoonchae waiting for the older members to pull up in their cars and them all going out to have fun their way.
- NO INDOOR VOICE: Sophia is always the loudest of the group, often shouting at the top of her lungs when she's excited.
- Product Placement: The "Gabriela" music video prominently features a Waymo self-driving car and an Invisalign aligner.
- Scatting:
- "Debut" and "Gabriela" with "La la la la".
- "Gnarly" with "Na na na gnarly na na na".
- Shout-Out:
- For the Halloween version of "Touch", the girls dressed up as the titular team from Winx Club.
- One of their new house activities involves three of the girls remotely giving instructions to the other three in the kitchen to help them cook something. Basically a nonfatal Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.
- "Gabriela" can be considered a Setting Update of "Jolene" by Dolly Parton.
- "Gameboy"'s love interest is compared to the console of the same name, i.e. the relationship is a "game" to the singer.
- Shown Their Work: As mentioned above, the members got to embody different spirits and cryptids belonging to their respective cultural backgrounds for their collaboration with "Monster High". They explained that they personally suggested the creatures to the creative team responsible for the final designs, which not only incorporate accurate folkloristic details, but also wear some of the girls' most iconic items - Megan's jade bracelet, Manon's waist beads, Lara's bindi and nose ring.
- Squee: According to Sophia, Lara had this reaction when she found out Lancey Four agreed to hop on her remix of "Gnarly".
- Take That!:
- If the disgusted sound added in the Gnarly MV at the "Tesla (Gnarly)" line wasn't enough to convey how KATSEYE feels about the brand, and especially its creatornote , then fear not! They made a comically unsubtle clip about it
. - The catfights to determine who's the member most deserving of the spotlight in "Gabriela" are a direct call out to all the solo stans that continuously try to pit the Kats against one other and spin made up narratives about their bond. The girls have made it clear a number of times that they refuse to pay them any mind and that they're each other's greatest support system.
- Their viral commercial for their Gap Jeans campaign
is an obvious dig at Sydney Sweeney's incredibly controversial American Eagle ads. - The girls will sometimes hop online, usually on weverse, to address certain rumours that may be spreading about them, shut them down and call out the invasive nature of such acts. This does not exclude the eyekons themselves and the girls will speak up (and have) if they notice them perpetrating the same behaviours they criticise other fandoms for.
- If the disgusted sound added in the Gnarly MV at the "Tesla (Gnarly)" line wasn't enough to convey how KATSEYE feels about the brand, and especially its creatornote , then fear not! They made a comically unsubtle clip about it
- A Wild Rapper Appears!:
- There's a remix of "Gnarly" with a rap verse by Ice Spice.
- Lara's remix of "Gnarly" features British rapper Lancey Foux.
- A remix of Gabriela features Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko.
- Word Salad Lyrics: Apparently Daniela's second verse in "Tonight I Might" is actually about someone who forced themselves to go to a party because the party is crazy..."I'm not the perfect example of someone ready to handle
The kind of party required to go in fully inspired but" - Xtreme Kool Letterz: The group's name was initially "Catseye", but on Lara's suggestion, they went with Katseye for the edge.
