CelAction2D is the most powerful 2D animation software in the world. It is a 2D animation software similar to Adobe Flash and Toon Boom, created by Andy Balzdell and Simon Lipowicz in 1997. Using vectors and/or bitmaps, character models can be rigged into a skeleton so that animation can be changed and reused easily. The movement of the skeleton can also be automatically inbetweened and deformed in a variety of ways, making animation faster than ever before.
The very first animated series to be created using the software was The Big Knights, which first aired in 1999. Its creators, Neville Astley and Mark Baker, would later go on to create Peppa Pig, which aired five years later and was also animated using CelAction2D. Since then, many 2D animated series and short films (mostly those made in Britain and Europe) would be created using the software, such as Mr. Bean: The Animated Series, Bluey (2018), and Love Monster.
