MediaNotes / Adventure Game Studio

Adventure Game Studio (AGS) is a Game Maker created by the British programmer Chris Jones in 1997 for MS-DOS and Windows 95/98/ME systems, and specifically designed for making Point-and-Click Adventure Games.

The engine has since moved to support modern versions of Windows, with 2.3.1 as the final DOS-based version in early 2002, version 2.6.2 as the last version to also contain a DOS engine in late 2004, and version 3.1 in late 2008, the final version to support Windows 98/ME.

In October 2010, Chris Jones made the source code for the engine available as open source under the terms of Artistic License. Various community developers have ever since been maintaining and improving the engine over the years, having implemented features such as cross-platform capabilities, parallax scrolling, and support for more modern screen resolutions.

Many games developed with the engine includes a noticeable blue coffee mug somewhere, as an Obligatory Joke, akin to Chuck the Plant in LucasArts games.
