A silly boy, a self-centered girl, a doctor, and other characters go to their own adventures to past or present. That is older ones' major features, but this cliche became more complex and is being played with since mid and later 2000s. For example, Why Law features this cliche's altered example: a quiet boy and a tomboyish girl.
Why? (와이책) is a South Korean manhwa series that usually shares the protagonists' names Eomji for female one and Kkomji for male one, though each volume's ones are obviously different from each other. Although it is started as an educational comic about science, the series also has a lot of non-science side comics.
Why? Tropes:
- Black Bead Eyes: Dr. Dada and Haema in Why? Brain have ones while other major characters' are drawn as big or anime-like.
- Questioning Title?: The question mark in the comic's title is included, thus, the comic series' full title is Why?
- Smart People Wear Glasses: Dr. Dada from Why? Brain. He is good at explaining about and knowing neuroscience to Eomji and Kkomji.
- Token Robot: Haema is only one of the protagonists of Why? Brain, while rest of them, Eomji, Kkomji, and Dr. Dada, are humans.
