The Spear Counterpart of Ms. Fanservice, Mr. Fanservice provides similar eye candy for viewers who are into men. It can be an effective way to bring in female viewers, even in a series directed towards males.
In order for a man to qualify as Mr. Fanservice, just being attractive isn't enough. He needs to be shown in scenes intended as sexual fanservice. He can have anything between muscular limbs, broad shoulders and/or sculpted abs (between six-packs and eight-packs). The muscles can be either lean or chiseled; as long as you can see them, they count. He may also have long hair though it's not required. Most of the time, he has medium length hair, a swimmer's build, a smooth chiseled chest, washboard abs and no shirt on. However, if he's wearing a shirt, it's usually sleeveless or left totally unbuttoned.
He tends to be subjected to at least one Shirtless Scene, or he can take it a step further by deciding to forgo a shirt all the time—though a Mr. Fanservice can also have zero shirtless scenes. In the Beach Episode his choice of swimwear is likely to be a speedo (AKA swim briefs). Just like his aforementioned counterpart, he can wear tight clothing, which shows off his body without baring skin. He may wear a midriff-baring shirt, but it's rare because Bare Midriffs Are Feminine. He can wear anything (or nothing, that works too), as long as these clothes accentuate or reveal his muscles. In an action-driven story, glimpses of his physical assets may also be accomplished via clothing damage. If he wears some sort of skirt-like garment the female fans will be prone to ask if he wears anything underneath it. He can also gender invert the Reluctant Fanservice Girl, Shameless Fanservice Girl, and Innocent Fanservice Girl tropes.
An especially easy way to show off his figure would be through the Workout Fanservice, where he flexes his muscles via exercising. Hot Men at Work is when Mr. Fanservice is, well, at work, but distinctly lacking a shirt, regardless of health and safety issues. Bonus points if he's The Charmer. If he wears small underwear, you have Briefs Boasting.
It should be noted that the trope is not necessarily restricted to Hunk type characters either. Bishōnen and pretty boys can easily qualify as well, and are often intended as fanservice too (particularly in manga and anime, where they are rather common and video games, where they are not as common with some notable exceptions). A rarer type of the pretty boy subseries is the Biseinen - a Hunk but with the pretty face of a Bishonen. Biseinen are often unemotional but can still appear in comedic situations which can overlap with the gender-inverted Reluctant Fanservice Girl.
Either way, the camera seems to have the hots for him, and the viewing audience is expected to feel the same way. While the way a Mr. Fanservice is presented often comes across as sexist, there is nothing inherently wrong with the trope itself; the real trick is to give him a genuine, fleshed-out personality beyond being eye candy, instead of having him exist solely as a Flat Character. (Besides, being "flat" usually doesn't fit this type of character.) If the Mr. Fanservice has a particularly cruel personality (usually a villain), he also qualifies for Fan Disservice.
Because Most Writers Are Male who believe the majority of their audiences are also male, Mr. Fanservice is subjected to multiple Double Standard tropes in his favor compared to his female counterpart; he isn't subjected to as much scrutiny from the Moral Guardians who believe that All Men Are Perverts but not that All Women Are Lustful (neither generalization is true), and he tends to avoid falling victim to Best Known for the Fanservice. However, in recent years more people have at least become aware that a sexually appealing woman is no more or less problematic than a sexually appealing man, in fiction.

Other examples:
- Both lampshaded and played straight at the same time in this Old Spice commercial
on Isaiah "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" Mustafa.
- This Breast Cancer awareness ad
specifically says, "If women are more likely to watch a video featuring a hot guy..."
- Johann in the Gevalia Coffee ads.
- Kraft had a series of commercials for their salad dressings that featured actor Anderson Davis. He would talk seductively about cooking, the camera focused routinely on his biceps and butt, and he almost never makes it through a single commercial without losing all his clothes from the waist up (and possibly down; unfortunately, we never get to see). The commercials have all been included on one Youtube video for our convenience
.
- Hefty trash bags took John Cena's Mr. Fanservice status from his professional wrestling career and ran with it.
- One ad campaign for Diet Coke featured a group of female office workers eagerly anticipating "break time," wherein they would flock to a window overlooking a construction site and watch as, in slow motion, a hunky, sweaty construction worker would go on break, peeling off his shirt and drinking his Diet Coke, apparently oblivious to all the spectators Eating the Eye Candy above him.
- Model-turned actor Evan Evagora (who portrayed Elnor on Star Trek: Picard) was once bare-chested for a 2018 Australian commercial.
- The eponymous mascot of the Mr. Clean brand has always been depicted as a smiling, muscular man in a very tight-fitting white t-shirt and pants. One Super Bowl commercial
has Mr. Clean cleaning a house in a very sensual way, with suggestive music and plenty of focus on his arms and butt, all while the female home owner is completely mesmerized as it's actually her boyfriend doing the cleaning.
- Asterix The Gaul gives us Tragicomix, who is blonde, handsome, and never wears a shirt so as to allow viewers to see his very nicely built chest.
- For the furries out there we have The Astounding Wolf-Man, who often suffers clothing damage and frequently ends up shirtless.
- Black Magick: Laurent is a very handsome man who's shown with his shirt off several times. Later he has sex with Alex at length and is shown fully nude afterward.
- Dawn of the Jedi has Sek'nos Rath, a handsome, muscular, and perpetually shirtless Red-Skinned Space Dude whose first scene in the comic has him showing off to a small group of swooning admirers.
- The DCU
- Absolute Universe:
- Absolute Batman portrays the titular character as just as much of a Tall, Dark, and Handsome Hunk as he usually is, except now with even more muscle than usual. Besides the fact that his Batman outfit is portrayed as form-fitting in a way that heavily shows off his muscles, Bruce himself is seen naked on various occasions throughout the comic, such as spending most of issue #10 running around without any clothes (although this can fall into Fan Disservice by the end of the issue) and when he's seen having sex with Catwoman in issue #13.
- Absolute Superman portrays the titular character as this, as while he's hit with a case of Adaptational Slimness compared to his mainline counterpart, he's still a fairly muscular guy wearing a form-fitting outfit. This is especially notable in issue #15, where he spends a good amount of the story dressed in nothing but overalls that show off his muscular arms.
- Buddy Baker, Animal Man, has a nasty habit of loosing his clothes due to his animal instincts kicking in or destroying his already very tight outfit. This is specially noticeable on Tom Veitch and Jamie Delano's runs.
- Savant, from Birds of Prey, was designed to be a hot one shot villain but became popular.
- Booster Gold was made for this trope. Tall, blonde, muscular, pretty, form-fitting outfit that gets shredded a lot
, and a great ass. His character development from money-grubbing media whore to tragic genuine hero doesn't hurt either.
- Flex Mentallo of the Doom Patrol is a chiseled bodybuilder who only wears briefs as his costume. He is also one of the most polite, good-natured members in a team often filled with Knights in Sour Armours.
- Of the Flashes, Wally is usually the one who gets the most female attention, and for good reason.
- Dick Grayson. There's a reason why he always ends up parading around shirtless or in his underwear, and his tendency to get tied up... often while shirtless or in his underwear. It's because Nightwing makes female Bat-fans. He also tends to suffer extensive Clothing Damage and gratuitous shots of his lovingly rendered ass (such as the one viewable to the right).
- Especially in Grayson in which he becomes a sexy spy. Characters in-universe refer to his good looks & physique often. Midnighter, because of perception-scrambling implants obscuring Dick's face, is able to identify him solely by his ass.
- Nightwing (2016) has issue #26, which opens up on Dick taking a shower, and issue #35, which shows him entering a cold bath; both instances going as far as showing his bare buttocks in their full glory.
- All the male Robins. You've got Jason, who has a dark and troubled past and a tendency to wear leather jackets. Tim, a dork with his tendency to ponder his next move and life situation in gratuitous shower scenes.
- The Spirit. Although there may be an entirely plausible, plot-related reason for why he's Bound and Gagged so damn much... and undressed... in consecutive splash pages. Or maybe not.
- Superman: Superman himself is not immune to this, even if it's rarely the focus. By virtue of his looks and Heroic Build, along with his general adorableness and Nice Guy personality, the Man of Steel has certainly had his share of Shirtless Scenes. The New 52 had his first panel in one issue bench pressing the equivalent of the Earth's weight, and he was only wearing his boxers. It also extends to the actors who have been cast to play him in just about every Live-Action Adaptation.
- Then there's the Kon-El Superboy, designed to be a younger, hotter Superman visually, incorporating "bad boy" imagery with a leather jacket, shades, and earring, along with his upbeat, too-cool-for-school Fun Personified personality.
- Wonder Woman: Steve Trevor's depictions have varied over the years and continuities, but Wonder Woman's boyfriend and oft husband is always a good looking military man who is respectful of women. In Wonder Woman (2016) he's a noted hunk who ends up frequently shirtless, and in The Legend of Wonder Woman (2016) he's a humble Ace Pilot with significant clothing damage in his first few appearances and whose beautiful eyes and gentlemanly ways are commented on by many characters.
- In Wonder Woman (1987) Hermes is a smiley hunk who essentially wears a skirt to hide his privates, which frequently does little to nothing to hide his derriere.
- Absolute Universe:
- In the Den series, Den and any other male human becomes this upon arrival in Neverwhere, naked, muscled and hung, albeit bald.
- Most, if not all of the male elves in ElfQuest. When Wendy Pini did a pinup calendar (for 1998), half the plates showed guys. The one of Strongbow was reused for a cover later
◊.
- Empowered's boyfriend ThugBoy
. Lessee... Half German/Italian, half Japanese (for the all-important manga eyes and long, silky black hair), blessed in the lunchbox, really buff, more likely to be shirtless than not, more likely to be trouserless than not, more of a Dark and Troubled Past than a third of the other examples, a prime example of Love Redeems... and loves his .Cool Shades.
- Exquisite Corpses gives us Pretty Boy, an axe-murdering serial killer and very attractive man who walks around in an Intimate Open Shirt.
- In Lanfeust, the title character is a pretty muscular red haired boy but, oddly enough, his nemesis Thanos also qualifies. He can teleport instantly to any location he memorized but always ends up naked!
- Marvel Universe
- Captain America: James "Bucky" Barnes becomes thoroughly baited when he makes his comeback as the Winter Soldier
◊. Steve Rogers (the Captain himself) can qualify as well.
- Daredevil has the reputation of being "the greatest himbo to have ever worn tights" and is indeed a huge Chick Magnet. Red-headed lean hunk, and you could even argue those milky eyes give him a strange allure.
- Tony Stark could have very well made his fortune by getting a nickel for every time he ends up naked, tied up, brainwashed, imperiled, or otherwise put into situations that give the fangirls squee-fodder. There is at least one blog solely dedicated to all the times the various incarnations of Tony end up at least half-nude, and it's quite large.
- Coming along in the wake of Tom Hiddleston's popularity in the Marvel Films, Loki got a very Hiddleston-esque makeover and became one
◊ in his new solo series, Loki: Agent of Asgard. The people in charge, knowing where their bread was buttered, had him naked in the shower
◊ on the second page. (All this is in sharp contrast to his rather Gonk-ish appearance in the early days of Thor.)
- His previous portrayals were heavily Depending on the Artist; he was already being depicted before the movies in some of the pre-Siege comics as a Pretty Boy in Painted-On Pants with a shirtless Forging Scene.
- In Spider-Man 2099, a woman (who technically has a boyfriend) straight up says that Miguel O'Hara (in his suit) has the tightest ass she's ever seen. Even the villains have commented on his attractiveness. For the record he's a 6'2" (that's 1.89 meters) half-Mexican with a Perma-Stubble, a lean and muscled physique, and red eyes, and a bit of a Home Nudist.
- Namor McKenzie aka Sub-Mariner is probably Marvel's biggest Mr. Fanservice: Has spent most of his publication history running around in nothing more than swimming trunks (and sometimes NOTHING), showing off his Heroic Build. He's dressed up some since then but he still likes to show off his arms and chest.
- X-Men:
- Gambit (especially in the '90s): The dark, brooding and mysterious guy with a horrible past and a dark secret, a cool gimmick, a trenchcoat... and the playful nature of playing basketball shirtless. Or showing his magnificent butt to the 'camera' (i.e. boathouse scene or the arrival in the Onslaught-aftermath issue of Uncanny X-Men).
- Before Gambit, Longshot played similar role, both in his own mini-series and as a member of the X-Men. The main differences are that he didn't have a longcoat (though his leather clothes certainly were meant to invoke '80s cool, just like Gambit's clothes invoked '90s cool), and instead of being a brooding yet loveable rogue he was a naive (due to being an amnesiac alien from another dimension) yet loveable rogue. He was also co-created by a female writer.
- Sunspot from the New Mutants. A handsome, flirtatious Latino who constantly finds himself without a shirt and showing off his muscled physique. One X-Force cover had him shirtless and in chains, which is not the only time that's happened to him.
- Colossus. He's frequently noted in-universe to be very good looking, being tall, handsome and muscular. It helps that, in order to show off his armored form, his costumes tend to leave a fair amount of him uncovered. His good looks are best summarized in Astonishing X-Men when Emma Frost praises how attractive he was.
Observer: He's a good-looking boy, isn't he?
Emma Frost: If you like the tall, muscular, square-jawed, unbelievably gorgeous type... I suppose he's all right.
- When he was resurrected in Astonishing X-Men he spent the first 3 issues of his reappearance wearing nothing but a pair of tight red boxer shorts.
- Marvel Boy is a very attractive and young, yet tortured quasi-nymphomaniac Byronic Hero who plays both teams. His first appearence in Young Avengers shows him dancing in just black boxers.
- Captain America: James "Bucky" Barnes becomes thoroughly baited when he makes his comeback as the Winter Soldier
- While Sin City is mostly known for its women, Frank Miller adds plenty of Male Frontal Nudity from all of its male protagonists (with the exception of Marv). Dwight was even shirtless for the entire Big Fat Kill miniseries.
- Steelgrip Starkey and the All-Purpose Power Tool: Inevitably done with Steelgrip Starkey, given that he spends almost all his time wearing a red short-sleeved shirt that shows off his muscled arms and washboard abs. Justified in that one reason he was selected was because he matched the archetype of a hard-working American hero.
- Thorgal has a lot of Shirtless Scenes where he shows his Carpet of Virility. In particular, he spent almost the entirety of City of the Lost God and The Sun-sword wearing just briefs.
- In Warlord of Mars most Martians men could count (with the exception of the Green People) since just like their females, they are half-naked space hunks adorned in the male equivalent to Chainmail Bikini. John Carter stands among them due to also appearing completely naked at certain points, albeit with Hand-or-Object Underwear and Barbie Doll Anatomy.
- Witchblade has Ian Nottingham. Often drawn shirtless due to fannish demand. (Not that Kenneth Irons was half bad, but he spent less time half naked.) And we shouldn't forget The Darkness' Jackie Estacado, either... although he does have a slight impediment for estrogen fun.
- X-Wing Rogue Squadron: Two kinds in this
◊ from the comics: half-naked attractive male pilots, and referencing a large usenet group's "Vote Wedge/Tycho For President" meme.
- The Bolt Chronicles: An In-Universe example occurs in "The Baseball Game," by which time Bolt and Mittens have become a romantic couple. When Penny dresses the dog in a baseball cap and jersey, Mittens finds him even more attractive than usual — sufficiently so that she comes on strongly to Bolt and they dash off for a lovemaking session.
Mittens: Y'know, they're right. There really is something about a guy in uniform, isn't there?
- Challenger: The beginning of Chapter 20 has Jameson Rhodes dominating a tournament in Springbloom City and building up a sizable female fanbase.
- Killer from Crossover Chaos gets turned into this after the first Time Skip in v1. Jamie from the same story also applies, and that overlaps with Silver Fox. Also overlaps with Author Appeal for both of them.
- A Dance on the Mats: Anon is described as being made of muscle, due to being a trained and skilled fighter. Applejack at one point muses that Rainbow loses her friendly spars with Anon because she was distracted by his muscles.
- In Euro Spy, we have a very handsome Hungarian spy named Gabor. He attracts many girls.
- The author of Hetalia: Axis Powers fanfic Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità
sure went out of her way to describe Italy dressed as Sailor Moon.
- In My Huntsman Academia, Izuku's toned and cut muscles (which are frequently covered up by his choice of clothing) are frequently discussed among his female friends. His chiseled six-pack abs get special attention, but he's also said to have solid pecs, bulging arms, and a nice tush that you wouldn't expect from a mousy guy like him. At one point, he decides to prank Yang by flashing his abs at her in a photo booth, only to find that she's utterly mesmerized by them until he snaps her out of it. Yang even brings this up when Team MNVW and Team TABY ask her to stop staring at Izuku so much.
Yang: Okay, fair, but can any of you actually blame me? [all the girls go silent and Yang nods approvingly]
- Not the intended use (Zantetsuken Reverse): This trope is discussed when Soma complains about how hard it is to swim with his Badass Longcoat on. Mina's response it to take it ALL off.
Mina: Go kill monsters wet and shirtless. Fulfill some fangirl's dreams. And take pictures while you're at it.
Soma: If you want to see shirtless guys, Naoki's always up for it. - Vale's Underground:
- Lie Ren gets a rather detailed description of what he looks like when he's wearing only boxer briefs. And Nora says she likes it because it helps "advertise the merchandise" — said "merchandise" is noted to be eight inches (something the writer admits isn't really relevant to the plot but couldn't help but admit).
- Mercury Black gets a bit of this as well. His described muscular figure and his apparent status as a Sex God certainly help with that.
- Sun Wukong still reprises his role as this in canon after Chapter 18. When he visits Yang, she is practically drooling over the sight of his abs.
- Dimitri in Anastasia (1997). A handsome con artist with loads of spark and personality, not to mention he appears to be drawn with quite a package. Strangely, Word of God says the animators were worried that made Dimitri too handsome, so to try and make him seem less good-looking, the animators gave him a slightly crooked nose—they failed miserably. One of the voice actresses even referenced this — the gist of her words were, "He looked too dashing, so the animators broke his nose a little—but then he ended up dead sexy instead."
- Many of the black-skinned people of Bolívar, el Héroe, specially adult Américo. He is well-muscled and shows it with an open shirt.
- Most male Disney Heroes, including the Disney Princes, can definitely qualify.
- Peter Pan (1953) & Return to Never Land: Peter Pan himself is this for teenage girls. His tunic exposes his lean muscles as well as some of his chest. His red hair and his free-spirited and mischievous personality contribute further to this.
- Gaston from Beauty and the Beast is very much this In-Universe. Not to mention Beast himself, for a small portion of the populace. As a human he's also a tall, strong-builded and handsome man with long auburn hair and magnetic blue eyes.
- The titular star of Aladdin—the character was even completely re-designed in early development because the old model didn't have enough appeal to women
.
- Li Shang (pictured) from Mulan gets a shirtless musical number. Discussed.
Yao: I'll get that arrow, pretty boy. And I'll do it with my shirt on.
- The titular Tarzan is a tall, handsome and muscular man who spends almost the entire movie wearing nothing but a Loincloth.
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire
- Milo Thatch is a surprisingly good example of Nerds Are Sexy. Although his underdressed moments tend to be played up for comedy, he's got a slim-yet-muscular Geek Physique (and frequently wears a tight sleeveless top that shows it off), is a sweet-natured, intelligent dork who is still brave despite that, and even gets an extended scene with Kida where he goes diving with her in his underwear.
- Dr. Joshua Strongbear Sweet, the muscular team medic, is introduced while shirtless, spends the majority of the movie in a tight tank top, and is seen wearing a well-fitted suit during the epilogue. His sweet, friendly personality definitely helps too.
- Prince Naveen of The Princess and the Frog — big time. One of the few Disney Princes with a liveliness and personality (not to mention a very strong Really Gets Around implication), ridiculously attractive in all his Ambiguously Brown glory, with an equally indeterminate yet sexy accent, all resulting in a consensus that he's arguably the most attractive of the Disney Princes. According to the commentary, Naveen took some time to find the perfect voice actor. After reaching three possible candidates, they brought in their female staff to listen to each actor. Bruno Campos had the biggest "swoon" factor.
- Flynn Rider from Tangled was designed when the directors gathered up every female animating for Disney, tacked pictures of celebrities (including Johnny Depp, made most obvious by his unused 'pirate'-eque design) and princes to the wall, had them analyze which specific features were the most attractive, and created Flynn from that. It was called, we kid you not, "The Hot Man Meeting". According to his casting call, Flynn was supposed to have an English accent but this was dropped for an American/Canadian accent like everyone else. Flynn's earlier design, Bastion, was much more like Kristoff and had a rounder, softer look than Flynn.
- Prince Hans in Frozen, Anna even engages in some non-sexual Eating the Eye Candy with him. Kristoff is also designed to be rather appealing, particularly more evident when compared to his earlier, more child-like designs.
- While not a prince, Tadashi from Big Hero 6 is not shirking in the fangirl department, and who can blame them? Daniel Henney's voice + Nerds Are Sexy + All-Loving Hero + Big Brother Instinct = Yes Please.
- Maui from Moana is heroic, funny, has gorgeous hair, is built like a superhero (on the heftier side of Heroic Build, bordering on Big Beautiful Man), and he's voiced by The Rock. It probably helps that he's shirtless during all of his screen time.
- DreamWorks Animation:
- Moses from The Prince of Egypt has caused some rather, um... unholy thoughts in many female viewers. Not only is his benevolent personality quite charming, but it helps that he's fit, clean, handsome, and shirtless for the first half of the movie as an Egyptian prince. And even after he becomes a shepherd, he only gains a more rugged attractiveness with his beard and grown-out hair.
- Both Miguel and Tulio from The Road to El Dorado are very handsome men and they go naked at one point when going for a dip and a couple of monkeys steals their clothes.
- Shrek has Prince Charming. A very handsome prince who does a good job being the most dashing male in the whole kingdom complete with a flirtatious smile, attitude, and smooth voice. He wears elegant attires that fits him like a glove. His build is muscular and tall, and he has a masculine, rugged face and a well defined jaw. Doris notes he gets her hotter than July and he has a face that looks likes it was carved by angels. Even Puss comments he sounds dreamy.
- How to Train Your Dragon 2:
- Eret gets several close-up shots of his biceps (Ruffnut Eating the Eye Candy), doesn't wear sleeves for most of the movie, and exposes his chest at one point to show off a painful-looking branding scar from the last time he didn't pull through for Big Bad Drago. As a bonus, Astrid's dragon Stormfly developed quite a soft spot for him, behaving like an excitable puppy around him.
- 20-year-old Hiccup elicits this reaction to many women as well. The general consensus among fans is that "He Neville Longbottomed."
- Trolls World Tour has Hickory — taller than the average Troll, with visible pecs under a leather vest with no shirt, and the smooth, lilting voice of Sam Rockwell.
- The Saja Boys from KPop Demon Hunters are all appealing in their own ways, being a K-Pop Boy Band consisting of a bunch of pretty boys who all act flirtatious during their musical numbers to appeal to their fans. However, Abs/"Abby" Saja stands out the most, being the most muscular of the 5 and going out of his way to show off his abs whenever he can.
- General census states that Young Onceler from The Lorax (2012) is very cute.
- Turning Red has 4*Town. A boy band that has gotten a lot of fangirls due to their attractive apperances. Robaire in particular shows off his psyche arms wise and has a shirt that does expose a bit of midriff. Tae is considered to be the cute one of the group while Jesse is rather handsome.
- In Hilary McKay's Casson Family Series, there is a sizable selection. Tom, Indigo, Darling Michael, and even Bill Casson, so much so that Sarah lampshades this on Rose's blog because of the Estrogen Brigade that Bill gathers with an Even the Guys Want Him statement used to drive his fangirls off.
- Tall, dark and handsome Louis from the Charlie Parker Series is constantly the subject of paragraphs describing how incredibly attractive he is, often in contrast to his short, aging, unattractive partner Angel. A flashback to his and Angel's first meeting, when he comes out of the shower dripping wet with only a small towel protecting his modesty, is particularly notable. In universe, he constantly has waitresses and secretaries hitting on him, and is easily able to flirt information out of women when necessary.
- The Courtship of Princess Leia: Prince Isolder is a hunk, who's also rich and charming. He's described as being quite handsome, with a strong jaw, long blond hair and a muscular torso (that he shows off in his first appearance by not wearing a shirt, then later having tight-fitting tops). Leia finds him attractive despite having an existing relationship with Han, to his dismay, and even falls for Isolder. Several minor women also gush over how good-looking he is, and in a darker example Isolder's sexually harassed on Dathomir by some witches. Teneniel Djo, another Dathomiri witch, soon also falls for Isolder there.
- Dora Wilk Series has some. As narrator, Dora, gets more and more infatuated with Miron, we're getting more and more descriptions of how handsome he is. Then there's Baal, who becomes Dora's good friend. When she's Dreaming of Things to Come, her dream starts with Baal banging a girl and description, while not being porn-like, is very... informative about him. Spoofed, though, when girl ends up assassinating him.
- In The Dresden Files, every book in which Thomas Raith (an incubus) makes an appearance will have a passage of varying length describing exactly how physically gorgeous he is, in addition to the supernatural incubus influence. It's actually a serious problem for him when he tries to be a Friendly Neighbourhood Vampire and get a normal job, as his female colleagues keep (literally) jumping on him no matter how hard he tries to dissuade them, and when he's caught the Double Standard causes his manager to assume he's the instigator and fire him. This happens repeatedly, with him getting increasingly fed up of being fired and not being able to feed properly without harming anyone until he eventually gets a job pretending to be a gay hairdresser, where he can safely feed through the slight but near-constant physical contact without harming anyone.
- Fate/Zero: Lancer, Diarmuid ua Duibhne, which is an actual power of his thanks to his cursed beauty mark (which causes him tons of problems both in the original myth and in the show). The Einzbern Consultation Room short did not let this go un-lampshaded.
Zecchan: Why isn't there an otome game based on Celtic mythology yet?
- Full Metal Panic!:
- Kurz who used to be a model and is a perverted Bishōnen with long blonde hair counts as does Leonard who is a Dude Looks Like a Lady Bishōnen with long silver hair and wears nice suits.
- Sosuke Sagara is definitely the ultimate example for this show, though. He gets the most shirtless scenes, and in general is the one who is used when someone needs to look sexy.
- A few Harry Potter characters qualify.
- Cedric Diggory, whose good looks bordered on being a running gag during his time in the series. The fact that he's a total sweetheart (to the point that he tried to forfeit a Quidditch match after his team already won) certainly helps. Even infamously whiny ghost girl Moaning Myrtle took notice. Too bad he dies at the end of the book.
- Sirius Black was once this in his youth, though all those years imprisoned in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit robbed him of that (Harry observes that there are some vestiges of handsomeness left on his face, though).
- Firenze is a Long-Haired Pretty Boy who doesn't wear shirts and causes Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil to get over their sadness at the sacking of their favorite teacher because they're too busy swooning over him when he acts as her replacement. That said, he's also a centaur.
- Jem in the Hetty Feather series is frequently described as literally Tall, Dark, and Handsome.
- Hornblower from Horatio Hornblower series is Mr Fanservice even on paper. Ladies are known to be attracted to men in uniforms, but Hornblower gets a Shower Scene every now and then, too. As a captain, Hornblower is known to his crew for taking a daily shower by having a couple of sailors at the pump with a hose—even in the Baltic where the water is freezing, and an incident partway through has him moving around the deck without any clothes on for about half an hour. The first time this habit appears chronologically is in Lieutenant Hornblower, where it's described in great detail: the hoseman pumping a stream of water on him, casting a towel aside, standing there naked in the sunshine, an amused crowd gathering to watch and Mr Bush's musings that it might be pleasurable despite being unhealthy.
- Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games, in-universe. Of course, this series being what it is, this trope gets deconstructed when it's revealed that President Snow has been forcing him to prostitute himself because desirability = profit.
- I Did NOT Give That Spider Superhuman Intelligence!: While female metahumans' costumes get a lot of description, per normal for the series, Bismuth’s leather pants (which he gyrates in once or twice), the muscular Neon Rider's spandex costume, and both men's handsome faces are also commented on.
- In Death has Roarke. Kind of a given since it's a romance heavy series, but he actually manages more than one fanservice moment in universe. The most egregious being the time he walked through the background of a video call Eve was having while soaking wet in nothing more than a towel. He was admonished to put some clothes on because he was frying her co-worker's brain. He also showed absolutely no shame whatsoever about this.
- Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices. Big time. His good looks are given a lot of attention.
- Bast from The Kingkiller Chronicle as lampshaded in a comic summary of the novel posted on Rothfuss' blog.
◊
- Alec Scudder in Maurice is an example of this. He's gay, he's up for getting down with Maurice and their relationship doesn't end up with anyone dying.
- In The Mortal Instruments, much attention is given to how attractive Jace is, especially since the viewpoint character is in love with him.
- Nightfall (Series): All vampires are beautiful, but Tristan in particular is described as a Pretty Boy by friends and enemies alike.
- The Old Kingdom trilogy's Touchstone, resident Human Popsicle and possibly long-lost heir to the throne. Features a Dark and Troubled Past and tendency to go berserk when Sabriel is threatened. Better known for his Naked First Impression, and kilt.
- The Power: Tunde, a handsome young man, gets increasingly sexualized and aggressively hit on by women as the gender norms shift to the point that his obituary mentions it.
- Even without a movie, or even an illustration, Garrid still manages to be this for Tales of the Frog Princess.
- Shimoneta: Oboro is a unique example due to having a woman's face and bodynote , despite being biologically male. Made more apparent during the end credits of Episode 9, which briefly shows him fully nude, and Episode 12 where he's forced to wear women's lingerie. On fan art sites, some have said they don't care that he's a guy and would (quote): "still hit it anyway."
- Zelgadis from Slayers. He is a Cute Monster Guy with green-grey skin studded with stones and is rather handsome.
- Orphen from Sorcerer Stabber Orphen. Troubled, but Cute: check, Dark and Troubled Past: check, AND those tight leather pants!
- The Twilight Saga, obviously, has its share:
- A good three-quarters of the book is Bella telling us how perfect and handsome Edward Cullen is.
- Bella's dad lampshades it for Dr. Carlisle Cullen, saying that it is a good thing he's happily married, and that the nurses have trouble concentrating around him.
- In the movies, Jacob (Taylor Lautner) has so many Shirtless Scenes that Edward eventually lampshades it to Bella — not quite a Walking Shirtless Scene, but ...
- The Ultimate Fire Sorcerer's Return: Through Hellfire and Back!: The second half of the first chapter has Flare entirely naked, showing off his muscular body until he puts some clothes on. Even then, the first set of clothes he pilfers leaves him a Walking Shirtless Scene with his pecs and abs showing. His casual wear shows off his arms and clings tightly to his chest to leave little to the imagination.
- Dimitri from Vampire Academy is described as a "god", and his well-toned physique is frequently mentioned.
- In The Wise Man's Fear, Tempi's default costume is a suit of skin-tight "mercenary reds." Of course, he spends a considerable portion of the expedition not wearing a shirt, or entirely naked.
- Reqi in Wise Phuul finds himself showered with attention from both men and women. It doesn't do any good: he's asexual.
- Corin Deeth the III of Kakos Industries falls neatly into this category for his wonderfully deep voice alone though it's what he says and how he says it that has drawn in more than a few admires within and beyond the show. Even the official website describes him of "sounding dreamy".
- Random Assault: Most photographs of Matt have him naked or topless at the very least.
- Carlos the Scientist from Welcome to Night Vale is an in-universe example; we never actually see him (because it's a sound-only series) but most characters who do see him generally treat him like a Living Aphrodisiac, most notably Cecil (who borders on being a Stalker with a Crush up until he and Carlos become an item) and Old Woman Josie (who gushes over Carlos' perfection along with Cecil).
- Cecil Baldwin (the voice of in-universe Cecil Palmer) once suggested that Carlos would look something like a "Brazilian supermodel".
- In the 1940s and '50s, most of Alo Leilani's fans seemed to be women. He wore a waist ring and sarong as part of his entrance attire and would always get a high-pitched pop when he took them off.
- The Rock 'n' Roll Express were used to attract fangirls in general, a Hotter and Sexier replacement to The Fabulous Ones, though Ricky Morton in particular was supposed to invoke the "motherly" aspect of the older fans while the carpeted Gibson was supposed to be the heartthrob.
- One could always tell which WWE wrestlers REALLY fit the "Mr. Fanservice" trope, because they would make Lilian Garcia grin like a Cheshire cat when they entered the ring during their entrances. Jeff Hardy, The Rock, John Morrison, John Cena, and Shawn Michaels pulled this off consistently, and The Rock even played on it by flirting with her on the mic more than once. The bigger/more badass wrestlers didn't have this effect on her, even if they could be considered very attractive in their own right (Triple H, Batista, etc).
- I think I'm cute. I know I'm sexy. I got the looks that drive the girls wild. I got the moves that really move them. I send chills up, up and down their spine...
- Wearing a face mask did not stop El Elegido from being viewed as a sex symbol in CMLL, AAA, or IWRG, not even after he turned 40.
- Subverted by Scott Steiner — he's tried to hit on women (in kayfabe) and failed hard at least twice.
- All Pro Wrestling had a competitor named Drop Dead Gorgeous, a cute, slim(by wrestler standards), clean-shaven kid deliberately put out to appeal to lady fans, and kids.
- Arguably, most wrestlers in WWE could be underwear models, unless they are outright Gonks.
- Jeff Hardy:
- Watch any of his matches, wait for him to tear off his shirt, and brace yourself for the onrushing wave of girlish squeals of delight that issue from the crowd as a result.
- He also manages to get the tragic past (his mother died when he was young) and the Troubled, but Cute issues (i.e., his drug problems that have seen him fired from WWE and TNA). And, this is all true of the actor, not just the character.
- This was perhaps the entire point of the Hardy Boyz around the 2000 era. When they got fired up, they took off their shirts. And the women in the audience loudly rejoiced.
- John Cena, too. Listen for the crowd reaction when his theme music dies down - all the cheers are high-pitched, all the boos are low.
- Randy Orton, further proof that All Girls Want Bad Boys. He had a segment on WWE Confidential answering questions about his physique from female fans.
- Promoter Jerry Jarrett used the term "blowjobs" to refer to pretty-boy wrestlers brought in to attract female fans.
- Frankie Kazarian is a dead ringer for Antonio Banderas, even more so with long hair. He also looks damn fine in suits. Christopher Daniels talked up Kazarian's sexiness almost as much as he did "sexiest woman in ROH" Simply Luscious.
- John Morrison and those abs! He's actually grated cheese
on them before.
- The Miz used to see himself as this and, to a much lesser extent, still does.
- His former lackey who saw himself as Miz's double, well, he used to be known as Aaron "The Idol" Stevens and incidentally did have many female admirers before he grew out his beard (guess what works from Daniel Bryan doesn't work for everybody)
- Zack Ryder definitely sees himself as this, too.
- Alex Shelley, both hot and snarky. His oft-time tag team partner, Chris Sabin, too. Unfortunately, no one was willing to spend 200 dollars an hour for their company...or were they?
- Jack Evans became huge in Dragon Gate because of his good looks and Pretty Fly for a White Guy persona. You can always make out a collective Squee of Japanese fangirls when he walks into the ring.
- Evans seems to invoke this anywhere he goes. It's even followed him to Mexico's AAA promotion, and is part of his popularity there.
- Tyler Black, best known for his work in ''Ring of Honor, has certainly not suffered in popularity from being a broad-shouldered and extremely attractive man with just a touch of All Girls Want Bad Boys in his favor.
- Tyler Black was later repackaged as Seth Rollins and is now a member of The Shield. According to Tumblr, his Shield compatriot Roman Reigns counts too, being Tall, Dark, and Handsome and buff.
- Their third teammate, Dean Ambrose (well-known in the indies as Jon Moxley) also has a legion of fangirls (and let's be honest, some fanboys) due to his unconventional good looks and magnetic sex appeal.
- A lot of Japanese promotions trend toward having a lot of these, on and off, when they're not going for unstoppable Mighty Glacier types. Pro Wrestling NOAH's push of KENTA and Marufuji as heavyweights, despite their diminutive size, was motivated by their Bishōnen looks; Dragon Gate absolutely loves the good-looking guys, with BxB Hulk being the most famous.
- NOAH's use of KENTA in this role was parodied in ROH where Becky Bayless, The Lovely Lacey, and Allison Danger put their differences aside to fawn over and pose for pictures with his rotund rival Takeshi Morishima.
- New Japan Pro-Wrestling has Hiroshi Tanahashi, the embodiment of this trope in Puro.
- Jimmy Jacobs, living personification of The Woobie.
- Val Venis, during his first run in the WWF/WWE. He may have been a glamour boy in WWC and IWA PR, the second Love Machine in CMLL, but WWF made him a porn star!
- Wade Barrett. Tall, Dark, and Handsome, with a lovely British Accent. Judging from the reaction he got from the majority of the IWC's female half, he's the milkshake that brings all the girls to the yard.
- Also don't forget to mention his Dragon Justin Gabriel.
- Some consideration must be paid to Heath Slater and his adorably goofy cuteness.
- Also don't forget to mention his Dragon Justin Gabriel.
- AJ Styles is well-built, cocky, and athletic with a distinctly boy-next-door look to him.
- Since we're on the topic of AJ, one of his rivals, Matt Sydal, was known as the "Cocky Cover Boy" for good reasons, and they were not limited to his status as an Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy. As Billy McNeil put it, the man had a million-dollar smile. In NWA Wildside, he was frequently seen alongside Altar Boy Luke and Seth Delay. In WWE, he teamed up with Kofi Kingston...they knew exactly what they were doing.
- Rey Mysterio Jr., you may not see his face, but his body is like whoa. The fact that he likes to cosplay and wear extraneous gear simply for removing it doesn't hurt.
- Hot as hell Scotsman Drew McIntyre, or to some, The Drew Galloway. More so in his native land than abroad.
- Paul London and Brian Kendrick. They're on the lean side, but wear masks, have long hair, piercings—well, Paul was shown wrestling once with a lip piercing—and love goofing around. Props to the fact that they were trained by Sexy Boy Shawn Michaels himself.
- CM Punk! The "CM" did originally stand for "Chick Magnet", after all. He's even done a lap dance for a raffle winner.
- Edge^ for a long time, from his start as the brooding sexy blond in a sea of more war-torn wrestlers, all the way to his Rated R days. Even Christian to an extent, which is why the Brood was taken out of the Ministry of Darkness and eventually doing a Heel–Face Turn on Gangrel (who's also a blond but is for people with interests in older men), too many fangirls love blondes apparently.
- Even when he lost his long hair, he still gets a pop from the ladies.
- Cody Rhodes, especially during his "dashing" persona.
- Taken up to eleven with his Stardust persona. His mirror became a satellite.
- Even The Undertaker has his share of fangirls, believe it or not.
- Chris Jericho to the point where he was booked to wrestle in Germany because the promoter's daughter enjoyed a picture that Jericho sent.
- Vampiro. His appeal to young women is what helped him become a massive star in CMLL.
- Kenny King; he even moonlighted as a Chippendale's Dancer.
- Mike Bennett, Cedric Alexander, and Davey Richards were known as this during their runs in ROH. Alexander was paired with Caprice Coleman and Caleb Konely, known for always making sure to look pretty and let everyone see the fruit of their efforts, to enhance the effect.
- Adam Cole. Just ask Jimmy Jacobs. Some promotional photos featured the dancing image of Cole from the neck down with Jacobs ominously hovering in the background. Don't ask Matt Taven, who only thinks he qualifies just because he has a section of purple-wearing middle-aged fangirls in the ringside and resents the Panama City Playboy.
- Ravishing. Rick. Rude. Sure, he was a Heel through and through during his prime, playing that narcissistic pretty boy schtick to the hilt, but every time he'd get Bobby Heenan to take his robe off, there'd be a shot of at least one girl in the crowd going absolutely gaga over his physique. What was that about washboard abs? There's a reason he's often considered to be the most attractive male wrestler of all time.
- Dolph Ziggler plays this to the max with his slicked-back, bleach-blond hair, washboard abs, perpetual cocky smirk, and Rick Rude/Billy Gunn-esque pelvic gyrations before and during matches. And that's to say nothing of the stories floating around (both in and out of character) regarding his prowess in bed.
- Tyler Breeze. He's not called 'Prince Pretty' for nothing.
- New Japan is not innocent of the crime of using Irish wrestler Prince Devitt to appeal to fangirls. Hell, Lexie Fyfe once posted a posed photo of Fergal Devitt from a shoot she did that generated the "potentially inappropriate" warning from Twitter.
- He's now wrestling in WWE as Finn Bálor, and approximately the entirety of WWE's fanbase, male and female, are a little bit in love with him. "Stupid Sexy Bálor" has become something of a rallying cry.
- When Kevin Condron, then known as Kid Cyclone, unmasked at CHIKARA's season 14 finale to reveal that he looked like this
◊ under the mask, female fans watching the show went nuts. He then started tweeting selfies.
- During his 2007 challenge to All Aggression Pro, Bruce Santee complained that when he entered a building, it was supposed to be overflowing with women who wanted to be with them. The response was loud cheers from the fans until it was drowned out by booing when he called the place a small sausage fest.
- Jaider Lee of the Bolivian New Xtreme Order. He even strips! Okay, just the tassels off his tights along with the hat and shades off his head, yet even that little bit gets huge pops. Oh, and Lee dances too.
- New Xtreme Order gave La Aristocrata the same theme Val Venis had in the WWF, and the sexophone is no less appropriate for him.
- The smooth-skinned and smooth-moving "Last Temptation" Ricky Ruffin of the NWA Western States and Vendetta Pro.
- Fandango, he might not be able to dance, but that voice will make women(and men) dance for him.
- Garza Jr/Angel Garza plays up this trope by stopping matches and whipping off his pants for the fans.
- Karl Anderson liked showing his abs after he got ripped.
- Tony Nese is really proud of his abs.
- Jungle Boy absolutely fills this role in All Elite Wrestling, although given who his dad is, that should come as no surprise. Anna Jay just got lucky!
- There's a reason why they call HOOK the Cold-Hearted, Handsome Devil. He's what you'd get if Tom Holland were a wrestler. Some even say he increased the AEW's female viewership.
- D&D 3e had Hennet
the sorcerer, who ran around with his sinewy tattooed chest exposed.
- Mutant Chronicles: The official art of Nick Michaels. A Tall, Dark, and Handsome man with long black hair and a pouty Troubled, but Cute expression, wearing a kilt, and a leather jacket with nothing beneath to better show off his rippling abs. Which fanservice buttons have we not pushed?
- Pathfinder continues Hennet's proud tradition with Sajan the monk and Seltyiel the magus, who both happily expose their toned abs at every opportunity.
- Scion has Eric Donner
◊ right on the cover, a red-headed, muscular demigod with extensive tattoos. His pictures in the book (especially his character portrait) usually depict him as shirtless.
- Most, if not all of the Primarchs of Warhammer 40,000 are described as being extremely handsome individuals, if you can get over the fact that they're about twice your height; Sanguinius and Fulgrim are especially, with both being described as beautiful to the point of severe distraction. Their father, the Emperor of Mankind, is supposed to be the embodiment of the perfect human- although to call him 'intimidating' could be putting it lightly... And he's very, very old. And above such things.
- Frankenstein (2014) has Frankenstein's Monster — no, really. After Victor Frankenstein's beloved friend Henri sacrifices himself
for Victor's sake, Victor can't let him stay dead. Of course, the creature that results isn't exactly Henri. What he is is a Walking Shirtless Scene desperate to find himself. He wanders away and gets picked up by an illegal circus
. The circus owner, Jaques (who is played by the same actor as Victor), has some fun with him.
- Legally Blonde:
- Kyle, the sexy UPS guy in a tight uniform who makes several remarks about his "package." "The new UPS guy is like walking porn!"
- Nikos, Brooke's poolboy. His "uniform" was a red thong and evidently nothing else and Brooke even admits that she liked to check him out while he cleaned the filters. Turns out he's gay.
- Once Emmett gets a more stylish wardrobe, Elle, the other members of the legal team, the whole department store, and even the audiences all agree that he's quite hot.
- The second act of A Very Potter Musical gives us Voldemort in nothing but tights, tap shoes, and a cape. His actor, Joe Walker, in general, is Mr. Fanservice.
- Adastra features a few, being a Bara furry Visual Novel where a total of 2 main characters actually have a shirt on.
- The "main attraction" himself, Amicus is a very muscular Big Beautiful Man wearing nothing but a shoulder cape, which covers nothing but half a pectoral, and very tight denim pants that do nothing but accentuate his bulge. This being a Furry Visual Novel, he also happens to be a large humanoid wolf whose cute and funny expression bring even more appeal to the mix.
- Neferu is such a Shameless Fanservice Guy that, in a story full of shirtless men, he manages to be the person with the least amount of clothes on in any scene he's in, if he has any on. This allows him to show off almost every inch of his physique, which is muscular and, unlike the chub on the other guys, is absolutely chiseled, all while still being curvy on the lower half. Neferu's tendency for flirting most any time certainly helps.
- Contributing to this VN reaching the Big Beautiful Man quota, Cato shares Amicus' muscular build and also has quite the gut on him, with the added potential appeal of being a Silver Fox. Unfortunately, Cato later devolves into a Mr. Fan Disservice when he turns out to be horribly disfigured under his visor...and that's the least of what makes him repulsive as he's also a complete psychopath on the inside and tries to forcefully marry the much younger Virginia.
- Amorous is an erotic dating simulator for Furries, with a nude setting to boot, so of course it has its share:
- The bird Coby is the robust Flirty Step-Brother to the protagonist and has a very voluptuous figure.
- The cat Seth is an Adorkable twink who turns out to have a decently manly, but still curvy build.
- The lion Dustin is muscular, chiseled, stylish and very frisky.
- The dragon Zenith is The Big Guy, a Gentle Giant and easily the most muscular character in the whole Visual Novel, with his abdomen being just slightly chubby enough to be an appealing dad bod. The shirt he wears is obviously too small for him and hides nothing of what's underneath.
- The gecko-chameleon hybrid Jax has a very voluptuous frame and he's also the bartender to an erotic club, so of course he dresses in a very Stripperific manner with nothing but a waistcoat and a thong.
- The dog Lex is non-binary, but, depending on the player's choice, they'll either function as this or as a Ms. Fanservice.
- Echo:
- Leo Alvarez is a tall, muscular and confident red wolf who's also got a bit of a dad bod. His clothes certainly help with how tight they are, as protagonist Chase describes how much Leo's shirt compliments his large biceps while his pants have a noticeable bulge to them.
- Flynn Moore is slightly less approachable with his Perpetual Frowner lizard face, but is also a tall, robust man whose shirt is always half unbuttoned on the front. Fan Disservice kicks in as him and Carl jokingly discuss the former's reptile genitalia and also when we see the depraved meetings Flynn attends.
- For those who prefer Twinks, there's the lynx TJ Hess, who is sensitive, friendly and The Cutie and is smaller and slimmer than the other characters. However, TJ is still an athlete, and is very much fit and even somewhat chiseled the few times we get to see him in just his underwear.
- Far Beyond the World is similar to Adastra above in how hard-pressed you'd be to find a fully-clothed male character:
- Ranok is the humanoid wolf that protagonist Caelan (and, in theory, the reader) ends up falling for, and his kindness, skills and bravery aren't the only reasons. He is the definition of manly, looking svelte but also huge, with muscles befitting a marble sculpture and, being the protagonist's roommate, more underwear and naked scenes than any other character. To Caelan's dismay (and joy), Ranok will often use his good looks to tease him and his Big Ol' Eyebrows are basically a character of their own.
- One of the reasons Ranok manages to look svelte despite being covered in a lot of muscles is that he's often right alongside his friend Vulgor, who manages to be even larger and more muscular than Ranok, and by a lare margin too, with much a more rugged appearance to boot. The fact Vulgor's good looks are matched with a wrathful personality bordering on Psychopathic Manchild is probably intended as Fan Disservice more than anything, but you'd be surprised just how many of the fans actually don't mind it at all that Vulgor would strangle them with no hesitation...yeah...
- Those more into Silver Foxes and Big Beautiful Men have the muscular Vithyr, whose shoulder cape doesn't hide his pectorals and abdomen which are in the process of becoming a gut and, looking down, you'll probably wonder how blood can flow through his legs when his pants are that tight.
- The wolves' village is, again, filled to the brim with muscular, shirtless Proud Warrior Race Guys, to the point where even Tano, considered by others to be a runt, could probably down a lot of real life body builders.
- When it comes to more twinkey male characters, concept art depicts the human protagonist Caelan with a fit physique, and the bunny Tryst, who looks muscular but is surrounded by men (and even some women) who make his figure look downright feminine. then there's a wolf even runtier than Tano, the slender Talisin, who is implied to be liked by the Bisexual Erof for this reason.
- Higurashi: When They Cry: Keiichi. Aside from his various… interesting (and quite exploitative) outfits, he gets a now-quite-infamous Guy on Guy Is Hot scene between him and Satoshi in the Kira OVA, which is drooled over In-Universe by the female cast. Apparently, his dad is also one in the manga.
- Lyre is a furry, queer Visual Novel feauturing the anthropomorphic wolf Lyall Reed, captain of the royal guards. He is big, muscular and gets more than one scene to fully show it off along with his manhood and buttocks, to the joy of the main character. Add this to the fact that he is as fluffy and adorable as a wolf warrior with a scar over his eye could ever look and you can see why he's the Visual Novel's de facto mascot.
- The human main protagonist himself, Richter (or whatever the reader chose to call him), gets more chances to show off his good looks than most Visual Novel POV characters do. He has chiseled facial features, a nice tanned skintone, a stubble and long hair he often keeps tied up. when it comes to his phisique, he's fit and decently hairy, to the point where he at one point contemplates how attractive he is in a mirror and his eventual boyfriend Lyall certainly agrees he looks stunning. A testament to how handsome Richter is is the fact that, even after weeks of imprisonment in a miserable cell and, later, days of actual torture, the man manages to come out of it still being an attractive kind of rugged.
- Minotaur Hotel: Once he's fully healed, Asterion is a big muscular bull-man that you can see naked whenever you're deciding his clothes, and although he cannot wander the hotel naked, he's willing (or not) to wear some more fanservice-y outfits later on in the game. Luke and Storm are also no slouches in that department.
- Helluva Boss:
- Stolas is the most overtly sexualised and flirtatious of the male characters, and his human form is shown to be very handsome and attractive, though his tendency to get excessively graphic when he's "flirting" veers into Fan Disservice most of the time.
- Asmodeus has a deep, pleasant sounding voice as well as sensual body language, and even briefly begins to pole-dance in his Villain Song. In OOPS, he's seen naked in bed with Fizzarolli, which conveniently shows off that he is built.
- Apparently, Bee can attest that she got smitten and then embarrassed when she saw him without a shirt on, describing him as being Hot as Hell. Him owning a workout app also supports this. When he finally shows up, Satan is seen to have a massive top-heavy physique similar to Ozzie, coupled with a Baritone of Strength and filling the archetype of the strongman within the Seven Deadly Sins' circus theming.
- Sun Wukong of RWBY. Monty has stated that only one word was used to describe Sun to the concept artists: ABS. Also, his pose on his valentine
. When his team is introduced to the crowd at the tournament, someone can be seen holding up a placard of his chest, with a heart-shape surrounding his abs.
- Sgt Ducky:
- Heff is regularly seen shirtless, and his most famous deed is having spent nearly an hour having loud sex (much to the ire of Ducky and PJ).
- Ducky's older brother is portrayed as more muscular than the other characters and is drawn nude in one of the stories.
- The BLU Soldier is the resident Mr. Fanservice in the Machinima series Team Neighborhood, having more on-screen appearances of either being shirtless, completely butt-naked, or jacking off, than the rest of each individual Merc on both RED and BLU teams combined.
- In Accursed Dragon, half-dragon Coven is seen as a monster by most people within the comic, but the fans appreciate all the times he loses his shirt, gets stripped to his underwear, or is forced into a bath.
- The Adventures of Dr. McNinja: The titular Dr. McNinja is found attractive by a lot of viewers anyway, but Chris Hastings made it even more intentional with this
. As the Alt Text reads: "Lil' bit of fan service for you ladies out there."
- Piras from Awaken is a lean but muscular Pretty Boy who frequently has Out Of Clothes Experiences in his prophetic dreams, stripped naked at one point to bathe in an oasis (showing no shyness at the prospect of doing so publicly) and the first page of chapter 11 features a Shower Scene that shows a little of his bare butt. The artist takes it up to eleven in bonus art; she's drawn Piras shirtless, in revealing outfits, in his underwear and completely naked on more than one occasion.
- The titular Camp Counselor Jason. Yes, that Jason. His intimidating hockey mask may hide a homely face, but the rest of him is a 7-ft-tall specimen of rippling muscles, accented by his tight polo shirt and shorts, and the fact that he's a kind Gentle Giant doesn't hurt either. He even has an in-universe fan club.
- Some of the guys in El Goonish Shive. Elliot's a big muscular hero who has almost every girl (and Justin) at the very least admitting that they find him attractive. Tedd, when he takes off his glasses, shocks everyone with his uncomfortably girlish good looks. Invoked with the MV5
form, which was built from the ground up as a gratuitously sexy male transformation.
- The Extra's Academy Survival Guide has little overall Fanservice despite being a Harem Genre series with lots of good-looking characters. The chief sources of shirtless Female Gaze in the Webtoon however, are Ed Rothstaylor, especially when he's building his camp, and Ziggs Eiffelstein providing Workout Fanservice.
- Most of the male cast of Friendly Hostility. In addition to quite a few male-on-male scenes, we have:
- Fox, a goofy guy who gets occasional Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass moments and seems willing to go for just about anyone...
- Collin, an evil wannabe dictator who spent some time as a male model...
- Girl Genius:
- Gilgamesh Wulfenbach is a great example, EBB: confirmed
.
- The first page
of the Cinderella arc includes Gil and Tarvek debating their various EBB qualities. They seem pretty evenly matched, which might be why Cinderella!Agatha ends up with both princes.
- Even some of the Jägers have fangirls, with Maxim and Oggie having the most enthusiastic followings. Maxim was originally an experiment to see if they could draw a Pretty Boy Jägermonster. They pretty much succeeded.
- Gilgamesh Wulfenbach is a great example, EBB: confirmed
- Grrl Power is fairly open about the fact that most of the characters, male and female, are going to provide some fanservice at some point, and this is lampshaded in The Rant, and occasionally in the strip.
- Hiro in particular doesn't entirely mind
the fanservice - his powers include "rakish good looks", and his tendency to lose his shirt
has become sort of a
Running Gag.
- Hiro in particular doesn't entirely mind
- James Eglamore from Gunnerkrigg Court. Characters in-comic certainly think so, too.
- Name just about any male character from Hanna Is Not a Boy's Name and you will find a large female fanbase. The artist seems to have a special talent for drawing attractive men for every taste.
- Parodied with Jake English in Homestuck. He is constantly wearing microshorts, all of his friends have a crush on him, his Page outfit consists of speedos and a hoodie, and he goes through a "stripper boyfriend" fashion phase... though any sexiness he might possess is nullified by Hussie's art style. Played straight in guest art, however.
- He also has plenty of admirers both in and out of universe. The fact that he has many fetish fuel points (bisexual, surprisingly well-groomed for a boy who's lived on an isolated island his whole life, etc.) certainly helps.
- In The Inexplicable Adventures of Bob!, when Fructose Riboflavin feels like looking human, he always makes himself very handsome
(in contrast to his real form as a shriveled old moth creature) in order to better manipulate others. It works well on Galatea.
- Most of the male cast of Lackadaisy usually get shirtless scenes, and have plenty of fangirls in cat or human form, but Mordecai Heller in particular seems to have won the hearts of many fangirls.
- Slick Giovanni from Last Res0rt. Troubled past? Check. Former mafia don? Check. Looks good in harem gear? CHECK, PLEASE! He's also naked on his mugshot.
- Either Cale or Tavor from Looking for Group. While everyone agrees that Richard is badass enough to have everyone squealing, the fangirls tend to be split between the two elves. And while we may never get a shirtless picture of Richard, we do get this.
- Male characters (okay, most characters generally) in Ménage à 3 tend to be Hollywood Homely at worst, and most get topless or naked shots. The artist/co-writer's personal favorite male character — not specifically for this reason — seems to be Dillon, who eventually got his own comic, Sticky Dilly Buns, where he could get more screen time — some of it with his shirt off.
- Niels: Agent 300 provides this in-universe for Agent 250, often unintentionally due to 250's sexual fascination with Scottish men. 250 provides this for 300 and us when 300 is mentally debating why he elected to be in a committed relationship, and with a man no less. He is quickly reminded why when 250 appears wearing nothing but a towel, with extra attention paid by Humon to his muscles and numerous battle scars. In fact, it's pretty safe to say that any appearance of 250 shirtless qualifies.
- Nixvir: Any god or any male character who is intentionally drawn as such may qualify; however, we will limit our examples to only a few of them from the series:
- Lord Nix is almost certainly this, even in-universe. He appears in the form of a broad-shouldered muscular man with the head and tail of an arctic fox. Indeed, the POV shot of the prequel comic devotes a significant amount of time to showing off his well-developed godly sixpack.
- Prince Zedrian, despite being ten years' old in more conventional time (note that this makes him about twenty years of age in the lifespan of his species), appears also as a very muscular, furry Belet (wolf-like humanoid creature) who has an Egyptian lock of youth (a physical trait which was also used by his father Prince Aeneas) and dressed in a very exaggerated, low-cut version of an ancient Greek chiton which exposes his sixpack and part of his abdomen. This would definitely make people consider him attractive in-universe.
- Thurtlefub, the leader of the band of kangaroos which hold Erik and Oriel hostage, is also very hirsute and very muscular. Justified in that he is the leader of the cotillerie and perhaps has endured sufficient physical training.
- The Order of the Stick:
- Elan is apparently this in-universe, although the stick-figure style makes it a case of Informed Attractiveness for readers. 18 Charisma is not to be scoffed at.
- Julio Scoundrél is also this in-universe, as he held the title of "Sexiest Man Alive" for some time. ...Not like it's easy for readers to tell, of course.
- Punch an' Pie, while not notably emphasizing the attractiveness of is female characters, gives us Aiden - the buff, nice hair sporting, tattooed Stoic.
- Sandra on the Rocks: The character of Domenico is probably parodying the trope during his frequent shirtless or near-shirtless scenes — not that he'd admit any such thing, and he has a distinct effect on women within the comic regardless.
- One arc of Sequential Art finally grants us Leon, an anthropomorphized Expy of Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia. He is an extremely cut and handsome lion-furry, and his introduction has him completely naked and chained up in the dungeon. When Scarlet meets him, she stares at him and momentarily forgets what she was doing. Even after breaking out of prison, he has yet to put on any clothes. After the arc is complete, the evil witch is banished, and spring has returned to the land of Narni-Narni-Nar-Nar. Leon has bestowed Scarlet with a title of nobility and has agreed to grant her one wish as reward for her help. What does she choose? For him to clean up the melted snow that had leaked into Scarlet's world, while she and her sisters watch. He's still completely naked.
- Hamlet Machine's Starfighter is pretty much full of this, from main characters Cain and Abel (codenames, not a horribly cruel and unusual coincidence) give a lot of this, considering the NSFW nature of the comic and Cain's hobby of jerking off in his Starfighter craft.
- In SwordCat Princess, MacKnight appears shirtless early
and often
, and then nude for a ritual he easily could have worn pants to
.
- Unsounded: Bastion's teleportation spell doesn't bring along clothes, so he glides all over the continent naked, generally scrounging up a glamor facsimile of pants once he needs to interact with people. He also spends a lot of time flirting, with just about anything sentient.
- Wuffle: He doesn't so much bare his midriff as much as he bares a thigh and then some. To say that he's got his share of fangirls (and fanboys) would be an understatement.
- Exploitation video reviewer The Cine-Masochist is tall, muscular and handsome, wears tight fitting t shirts (and one time wore one made of MESH), wore heavy eyeliner on more than one occasion and most recently had a gratuitous shirtless scene as "Random Naked Serbian Indian", implying that he was completely nude.
- Quinn from Demo Reel. Most of his scenes consisted of him in the background, half-dressed, showing off his muscled arms and snarking in an Irish accent.
- Speaking of well-muscled, Tacoma was a fit black man with camera-focused long eyelashes, a ridiculous amount of flirting back with Donnie, and spent his his last couple of episodes in a Belle dress that demonstrated how nice his shoulders were.
- Donnie DuPre. Wears a lot of t-shirts that show off his arms, gets objectified by Carl's camera to make a Male Gaze point, wears eyeliner and lipstick without making a fuss, asks for slash from the fandom, uses his best physical traits to get what he wants and the people who he hits on are mostly other men. Oh, and did we mention he's also a Fantine-level woobie sweetheart?
- Leonidas from Epic Rap Battles of History. Much like in the movie he was based on, he's a Tall, Dark, and Snarky muscular man who is a Walking Shirtless Scene. The same can be said for Shaka Zulu.
- Bladezz from The Guild, especially in the music video. In-universe, he's even a model.
- Hero House has He-man, who is treated as this in-universe.
- Jonas Wharton from lonelygirl15, an orphaned Lonely Rich Kid hero who appears shirtless regularly with little provocation.
- The Nostalgia Critic will frequently get shirtless, is a Wholesome Crossdresser occasionally, be the Reluctant Fanservice Boy when he's made to by other people, has given blowjobs to joysticks and is the master of The Immodest Orgasm.
- Doug's other character, Ask That Guy with the Glasses, is just as fun. A Depraved Omnisexual who'll "go down on anyone and anything", does porn movies, will give blowjobs to his pipe, and doesn't think het incest is kinky enough.
- There were three in Suburban Knights; Critic was dressed as Link, with a short tunic, no tights or pants, and the camera focusing heavily on his long, pale legs. Benzaie, who was dressed as Conan the Barbarian, was walking around constantly shirtless and wearing a leather skirt.
- In his own videos and at cons, Doug Walker is the kind of guy who'll eagerly swirl his tongue around a lightsaber, striptease at panels, flirt with anyone who has a pulse, and regularly gets teased for his Oral Fixation.
- Many of the leads of Pretty Dudes, namely Sunji and Ellington, though Jay and Alexander have their moments depending on the episode.
- The React series have Tom, Labib, the original Jake, Shant, Ethan James, Kostas, and Eric, who are all very nice to look at and will occasionally turn up in vests or very short sleeved t-shirts. In a particular example, 90% of the comments on the Outlast series draw attention to Tom's good-looks.
- Blaine Gibson is Rooster Teeth's resident Hot Guy, as he never passes up the opportunity to show off his jacked body, including his official 2020 company portrait.
In fact, before he was officially hired, he was known to the community as "The Hot Intern". His character in Eleven Little Roosters is obsessed with being one.
- Anthony of Smosh gets way more shirtless scenes than Ian, and is often the one who crossdresses and wears tight skimpy outfits in most of the videos.
- Around 2015, Shayne became the new Mr Fanservice, especially after Anthony's departure.
- Ryan George usually doesn't show skin, but Screen Rant got him to do a ten-minute video talking about movie trailers while naked in a hot tub and wandering around in a very loose robe. Acknowledged at the beginning and in the comments as "shirtless Ryan" was a very good business strategy.
- Henry on The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, in a way. He's dressed very conservatively (except in the comic version of Episode 3), but his pants are rather tight and he's drawn as being the "hunk" of the boys. Plus there's his voice.
- Arcane: Jayce has a fairly long Walking Shirtless Scene while working in the forge, showing off his sweaty and very muscular body.
- The eponymous Sterling Archer on Archer is a secret agent and unabashed man-whore who spends half his on-screen time in various states of undress, usually only hiding his privates. One episode has Lana and Archer in a firefight while in their underwear, and just as much attention is paid to Archer's ass jiggling from the weapon recoil as is paid to Lana's breasts for the same reason. He has no problem getting women to want to sleep with him, even if he doesn't want to sleep with them (this rarely happens), and has even made two men fall in love with him as well.
- Avatar: The Last Airbender: Prince Zuko, despite the huge burn scar on his face. Though he may not have been intended as such at first, the creators quickly caught on and lampshaded the hell out of his Mr. Fanservice status in the second and third seasons.
- Terry McGinnis, Batman's successor, in Batman Beyond. Similarly to Ulrich below, he's a supreme Pretty Boy (and equal parts Hunk), is Troubled, but Cute and gets quite a few Shirtless Scenes. If the writers were trying to get more female viewers, it worked.
- Code Lyoko: Pretty much every male student at the Kadic Academy is this by default, due to only having having the exact same lean muscular body, as seen during any of the numerous Shirtless Scenes, with only clear skin and hairstyles, such as bowlcuts and mullets, being the difference that keeps everyone of them from being this trope. However, the two kings of this trope are Ulrich Stern and Odd Della Robbia, (William Dunbar being a close second), with the best example of this being in the episode “Bragging Rights”, which ends with a Shower Scene that has them naked from the waist up, while from the waist down Ulrich only wearing underwear and Odd dances around in nothing but a Modesty Towel, as seen here
.
- Hazbin Hotel:
- Angel Dust is a Pretty Boy who flirts with everyone he finds attractive, dresses in short shorts, shows off a lot of cleavage, and even dresses in sexy clothes while dancing as a stripper. This is part of his job.
- Alastor the radio demon has a slim handsome face with big eyes, a sly grin, shoulder length hair, and wears a snazzy suit. He’s also quite charismatic with an interesting voice and a Creepy Awesome form.
- On the villain side, there's Vox. He wears a snazzy suit akin to his Sitcom Arch-Nemesis Alastor, has a smooth voice courtesy of Christian Borle, and he even gets a shirtless scene in season 2.
- Johnny Bravo: While his boorish, overbearing, and narcissistic attitude may be an instant turn off for many, there is no doubt that Johnny is a really handsome and flirtatious dude. He's got stylish hair, cool shades, ripped muscles, and plenty of Shirtless Scenes.
- Riot from Jem is pretty much every 80s rock star stereotype combined into one sexy guy. Even in-series his concerts are majority fangirls. He's a dark-skinned, blond, long haired man with an attractive singing voice. Riot pretty much always has an open shirt, showing off his abs, and has several shirtless scenes. Compared to the other men Riot is certainly meant to be eye-candy. He has an absurd ego though.
- John Redcorn from King of the Hill has a muscular build, long black hair and quite a few shirtless scenes. In-Universe, some of the characters acknowledge John's good looks, such as Dale Gribble, who says that he's "dripping with sex appeal".
- The Legend of Korra:
- Mako, who, unlike Zuko from the prequel series, seems completely intended to be one from the beginning, as he's actually had more outfit changes than Korra and his scenes normally include a lot of unnecessary panning and posturing.
Even the creators, his bio on the Nickelodeon website and his voice actor make it a point to mention that Mako is good-looking.
- His brother Bolin doesn't let the side down, either. While his baby face is a matter of taste, he's considerably wider and more muscular than the already peak Mako and spends a good portion of the series shirtless. As an actor, Invoking this In-Universe.
- Ghazan from the Red Lotus group has long hair that flows in the breeze, and is introduced to the show while working out shirtless. For the majority of the show, he wears a short-sleeved outfit that shows off his arms, but his shirtless state apparently had some impact on the fandom, as much fanart portrays him that way.
- Mako, who, unlike Zuko from the prequel series, seems completely intended to be one from the beginning, as he's actually had more outfit changes than Korra and his scenes normally include a lot of unnecessary panning and posturing.
- In contrast to his out of shape bandmates and to his childlike tendencies, Toki Wartooth from Metalocalypse packs huge six-pack abs and toned muscles even with their hedonistic lifestyle. It's especially noticeable whenever the group dips in their hot tub or just clad in a towel, and he was the only one not sunburnt, just got a tan. Then there's the time he pole-danced to earn money for the band.
- Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm: Liu Kang, a Walking Shirtless Scene.
- My Adventures with Superman: Clark Kent/Superman himself is this, as the production team deliberately sought to make him as attractive as possible
in every scene. While he usually hides how muscular he is under baggy sweaters and jackets, his Superman outfit is much more form-fitting and shows off his hunky build. In "My Adventures with Mad Science", the clothes on his upper body are burned off by laser fire when he shields Lois from an automated laser gun, and he spends the rest of the episode completely shirtless.
- OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes has a few examples.
- Raymond is a "sporty Casanova" who speaks in a sultry voice and has an elegant hairstyle and an athletic build. Since he's a robot, he's technically naked 90% of the time, and when he does wear clothes, one can expect them to flatter his build very well (such as the very revealing swimsuit he wore in the Beach Episode.) Add in some flourishing poses, provocative dance moves, and a healthy dose of Homoerotic Subtext with Radicles for good measure.
- Laserblast had a broad Heroic Build that he showed off with a tight-fitting outfit and sleeveless shirt. His square jaw, Perma-Stubble, and deep, smooth voice (provided by Steven Ogg) certainly didn't hurt, either.
- Professor Venomous has a slender yet muscular build and long, shapely legs that are accentuated with stylish, form-fitting wardrobe and some very provocative poses. His good looks are accentuated by his long hair, tasteful eye makeup, deep voice (also provided by Steven Ogg), and debonair attitude. It's eventually revealed that Venomous and the aforementioned Laserblast are the same person, and Laserblast's transformation into Venomous is shown through a few rather enticing shirtless scenes. He’s also endeared himself to the Furry Fandom (due to his more serpentine characteristics) and the yaoi fans (being canonically bisexual and in a loving same-sex relationship.)
- Onyx Equinox: Yaotl in his original form is very muscular with long hair, only wears a loincloth when he wears anything at all, is first seen at an orgy with both men and women, and even gets a full frontal shot in his first scene.
- The extremely studmuffin-y Jack from Samurai Jack takes off his clothes or has them tattered and ripped off in his many battles more often than is strictly necessary (not that anyone was complaining). The trend continues in the fifth season, to the point of being a Running Gag; he keeps finding or stealing clothes only to lose them again either the next episode or the same episode, and has spent most of his on-screen time in Season 5 running around in a ragged loincloth, even when it's explicitly detrimental to him.note
- In The Secret Saturdays, Doyle Blackwell is Zak's Cool Uncle who is a mysterious but loving badboy with sarcasm and a jetpack. He is also the only male in existence who can pull of a ginger mullet-mohawk combo.
- Zak himself grew up into quite the Pretty Boy, according to a crossover episode with Ben 10: Omniverse.
- The Simpsons: Not at all normally, but whenever Ned Flanders' physique is shown off, expect a lot of focus to be drawn towards how amazingly (and surprisingly) good shape he's in. He is the Trope Namer for Stupid Sexy Flanders, after all.
- Star Trek: Lower Decks: Commander Jack Ransom gets a Shirtless Scene in "Temporal Edict" which shows off his muscular physique.
- Stork from Storm Hawks appears in his underwear, in a towel, cross-dressed as a woman, and nude in Season 2.
- Lance from Sym-Bionic Titan, in-universe and out. Even the robot noticed. He also has a really adorable smile.
- Many male and female viewers who aren't part of the Furry Fandom find the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to be hot, their bulging muscles, their acrobatic grace... The fact that they're not just Walking Shirtless Scenes but also walking pantless scenes as well and each one has a unique personality that draws you in. Do you like the dutiful Leonardo? The nerdy Donatello? The Hothead Raphael? Or the Keet Michelangelo?
- TOM from Toonami is a very attractive robot with a goddamn sexy chest and legs. Plus his voice.
- Total Drama:
- Justin has this as his defining trait (and exaggerated to comedic levels), with his label being "The Eye Candy". And with washboard abs, chiselled muscles, and more than enough Shirtless Scenes to go around, he certainly lives up to his label.
- Introduced in World Tour is Justin's Suspiciously Similar Substitute Alejandro, who combines Justin's impossibly gorgeous body with "the ability to charm the pants off most species" and plenty of shirtless scenes, with one gem in "Sweden Sour" being where he rips off his shirt and starts using his entire body to move the boat. He even wears a speedo in "Jamaica Me Sweat"!
- Trent counts, too. Between his smooth voice, cool and friendly demeanour, musical talents, and a choice selection of shirtless scenes, he is pretty much meant to be every high school teenage girl's dream guy.
- Geoff's default outfit never has his shirt buttoned up, leaving his chest and abs almost constantly exposed to the viewing world.
- The spinoff Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race continues the tradition with Ryan and Jacques. Both buff guys with handsome faces who were shown off for the pleasure of the female and gay/bi male members of the audience. Jacques even spends most of one episode in a speedo.
- In Young Justice (2010), Superboy is a much straighter example. Events go out of their way to make sure he loses his shirt somehow, and he plays up many different Fanservice tropes.
