- Better on DVD: A television series or film is believed to be more enjoyable when viewed in one sitting, which is possible if the entire show or film is available on home media.
- Bonus Episode: A television series has an unaired episode available as a bonus feature on home media.
- Boxed Set: A DVD set that either contains every episode of a whole season of a television show or the television show in its entirety.
- Compilation Movie: A movie that is made by editing together episodes of a television show. Will often be done for the home media releases of specific arcs.
- Copy Protection
- Country Switch: A video game's setup is programmed to be different depending on the country it's being played.
- Covers Always Lie: What's depicted on the cover isn't indicative of the work's actual content.
- Deleted Scene: Scenes that were cut from the final work, usually for timing purposes or because of an inconsistency, and are usually available on the home media release as bonus content.
- Digital Piracy Is Evil: A work of fiction gives the moral that it is wrong to distribute unlicensed recordings of media.
- Direct-to-Video: A movie is released straight to home media upon being completed.
- DVD Bonus Content: A DVD release includes additional content besides the work itself.
- DVD Commentary: One of the DVD's bonus content is an audio track where the people who worked on the show/movie talk about the work's development while watching it.

- In-Character Commentaries: Audio commentary where the actors pretend to be the characters they play recounting their experiences.
