Tropes:

  • Area 51: Galaxa and Jermaine visit Area 51 and the nearby Extraterrestrial Highway many months after their spaceship ride.
  • Brain Critical Mass: Grayans developed Psychic Powers as a result of their Super-Intelligence.
  • Cuddle Bug: Both Galaxa and Jermaine enjoy hugs and hug each other a few times during the story.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Galaxa is described as having a knack for dishing out biting sarcasm.
  • The Empath: Grayans can read the emotions of others.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: About halfway through the story, Jermaine gets bags under his eyes after a night of dealing with negative flashbacks and unwanted memories.
  • Facial Profiling: Galaxa's an East Asian-coded Gray alien who has almond-shaped eyes and straight black hair.
  • Flying Saucer: Galaxa's spaceship is a silver flying saucer.
  • Gasp!: Galaxa gasps after Jermaine asks her to erase the last twenty-five years from his mind.
  • The Greys: Galaxa and the rest of her species, the Grayans, are grey humanoid aliens with large heads; equally-large black eyes that are sensitive to bright lights; no noses; no external ears; three-fingered hands (each finger is tipped with a bulb); and two-toed feet. They are a Long-Lived Higher-Tech Species with Super-Intelligence and Psychic Powers as a result of their aforementioned intelligence. Finally, and unsurprisingly, their form of government is a technocracy.
  • Higher-Tech Species: Grayans have developed a fair amount of technology far more advanced than what humans have created.
  • Innocent Aliens: Galaxa's a friendly, peaceful Gray alien who cares about and gets along well with everybody and enjoys helping those in need. At the end of the story, she reassures Jermaine that she's his friend and cares about him very much after she uses her Touch Telepathy to view all of his memories.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Jermaine, a male human, is close friends with Galaxa, a female space alien who's a member of The Greys.
  • Intrusive Thoughts: Jermaine constantly struggles with intrusive thoughts and unwanted memories, which are at their worst right before he goes to sleep at night and right after he wakes up in the morning.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: At the end, Jermaine asks Galaxa to wipe the last twenty-five years from his mind. She refuses on the grounds that she'd be erasing good memories along with the bad ones.
  • Long-Lived: Grayans are described as such.
  • Nice Girl: Galaxa cares about and gets along well with everybody and enjoys helping those in need. At the end of the story, she reassures Jermaine that she's his friend and cares about him very much after she uses her Touch Telepathy to view all of his memories.
  • No Biochemical Barriers: Played with. While Galaxa has no trouble breathing in Earth's atmosphere, it's explicitly stated that she can't digest human food.
  • The Noseless: Grayans lack external noses.
  • The Pollyanna: Galaxa always tries to look on the bright side.
  • Psychic Powers: Grayans developed these as a result of their high intelligence.
  • Rapid-Fire "No!": Galaxa says "No, no, no, no. No." in response to Jermaine asking her to erase the last twenty-five years from his mind.
  • Shiny-Looking Spaceships: Galaxa's spaceship is bright, pristine, and shiny, evidenced by it glistening in sunlight.
  • Ship Tease: Between Galaxa and Jermaine.
    • At the beginning, Galaxa and Jermaine take a ride together in her spaceship. After they return to Earth later that night, they sit on top of her spaceship and stargaze. As they stargaze, he thanks her for taking him on a ride in her spaceship while hugging her.
    • Many months later, Galaxa hugs Jermaine when they both say they had fun visiting Area 51 and the nearby Extraterrestrial Highway.
    • The following day, Galaxa asks Jermaine if he's okay as she places her hand on his shoulder when she notices his Exhausted Eye Bags and difficulty forming complete sentences. After he explains that he constantly struggles with unwanted memories right before going to sleep at night and right after waking up in the morning, she apologizes before saying she could sense something was wrong but wanted him to tell her himself.
      • She asks if there's anything she can do. He says there is, with that something being erasing the last twenty-five years from his mind. She refuses on the grounds that she'd be erasing good memories along with the bad ones. He resorts to pleading with and begging her to remove his memories because they're just too painful to bear anymore.
      • She uses her Touch Telepathy to view all of his memories, both bad and good. Once she's done, she reiterates that she won't erase his memories because there are too many good ones she wants him to remember. After that, she hugs him and says she still wants to help him out before reaffirming their friendship and how much she cares about him, adding on that she'll help him get through this. He thanks her with a smile.
  • Stargazing Scene: After taking a ride in her spaceship, Galaxa and Jermaine sit on top of said spaceship and stargaze later that night. He says the stars are beautiful. She agrees before telling him that she loves stargazing.
  • Super-Intelligence: Grayans are described as the most intelligent beings in five galaxies.
  • Telepathic Spacemen: Grayans can read minds.
  • Telepathy: Grayans can read minds. Galaxa does this at the end to see Jermaine's memories.
  • Touch Telepathy: At the end, Galaxa places her hands (which glow white and become outlined by a magenta aura) on the sides of Jermaine's face to view his memories.
  • Weakened by the Light: The large black eyes every Grayan has are extremely sensitive to bright lights.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Galaxa is a teenager described as such and doles out good advice to others.
  • The Xenophile: When Galaxa and Jermaine visit Area 51 and the Extraterrestrial Highway, everyone is excited to meet an actual alien and see her spaceship.
