- Abominable 2019: Everest is a yeti who is not only bigger than the other main characters, but is also a very loving and protective creature, something that Mr. Burnish later acknowledged.
- Animal Soccer World: Butcher. The biggest, strongest dog in town. Absolutely terrified of getting hit with a soccer ball. He uses his status as a desirable player to help snag Krummel a spot on the team.
- The Bad Guys DWA: Mr. Shark is obviously the largest of the namesake group, but he's also the softest member amongst them all.
- The Book of Life: Carmelo is the biggest of the Sanchez and one of the most light-hearted.
- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:
- Tim Lockwood, a fisherman and Flint's formerly technophobic father who has always loved his son unconditionally.
- Officer Earl Deveraux, a policeman who's doing his job within Swallow Falls in the best ways he can, and is also a very caring and protective father to his own son Cal.
- Brent McHale, especially after his Heel–Face Turn, where he went from being the mascot "Baby Brent" to becoming Chicken Brent.
- Disney Animated Canon:
- Aladdin: While the Genie may alter physically due to his Shapeshifting ability as a magical being himself, his actual normal size, even after he was set free by the titular character, still has him being bigger than many of the franchise's main characters.
- Atlantis: The Lost Empire has Dr. Joshua Sweet, who, as his title and surname suggest, is a very well-meaning medical doctor himself, giving care to those in need in the best ways. Even after it's revealed that he was part of a band of mercenaries who were after the Heart of Atlantis, lead by Commander Lyle Tibeius Rourke, Sweet himself is surprisingly the first among them to turn against their former leader after he fatally gut-punched King Kashekim for not instantly telling the location of the Heart itself.
- Beauty and the Beast (1991): The Beast, after he is moved by the love of a beautiful woman.
- Big Hero 6: Baymax is large, squishy, and pear-shaped but is also humble, naive, ridiculously friendly, and (as described on the work's Heartwarming Moments page) essentially a robot version of Winnie the Pooh. Even after Hiro Hamada adds Kung-fu to his programming, he remains as gentle as a lamb. The same cannot be said when Hiro would remove his caretaker programming, although Hiro was fully aware of this.
- Brother Bear involves Kenai transforming into a bear after he hunted down the mother of Koda. Despite his initially negative feelings towards that, as the movie progresses, he later started to accept his transformation after developing strong bonds with Koda, to the point where he decides to stay as a bear for the rest of his life as an atonement for his hunting actions.
- Chicken Little (2005): Runt of the Litter, who, despite being the smallest of his porky family, is the largest of the kids at school. His size doesn't stop him from being dorkily cute.
- Dinosaur (Disney): Aladar, a kind and sociable Iguanodon who was raised by lemurs after his mother died.
- Dumbo: The titular character's mother Mrs. Jumbo, who is a giant adult elephant herself, has always loved and cared for her son no matter what, even when he has giant ears.
- The Emperor's New Groove:
- Pacha, being the patriarch of his family, is the tallest among them, and is also a very loving father. He even becomes a father figure to the namesake Kuzco, as well, where he subtly teaches the young emperor about the importance of humility.
- Kronker "Kronk" Pepikrankenhitz, Yzma's ex-assistant, is actually this, too, given that he's really a very softhearted muscular guy who has a strong passion for cooking and runs a squirrel-themed scout. He even gets his own spin-off movie, where it primarily tackles about him trying to impress his shorter (and more short-tempered) father Papi.
- Encanto has Luisa Madrigal, who's immensely the largest of her entire family, but she's also a major Bruiser with a Soft Center, having to shed tears whenever she feels like she will potentially disappoint her family.
- Hercules (1997): For all his muscles and incredible strength, Herc remains a kind-hearted soul who doesn't want to hurt anyone. Given that this version is basically a Superman expy, and in a Disney adaptation that couldn't very well be faithful to the original myth, this is only to be expected.
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Quasimodo is an interesting example, as due to his physical deformity, he stands shorter than most men, but he still counts specifically because a lifetime of ringing the bells of Notre Dame Cathedral have left him strong enough to shatter iron chains with his bare hands.
- The Jungle Book (1967): Baloo is a large and fun-loving gray bear who has taught Mowgli about the bare necessities of life.
- The Lion King: Mufasa, a huge lion who served as The Good King of the Pridelands. Also, you shouldn't threaten his son Simba in front of him.
- Meet the Robinsons: Uncle Art Framagucci is the tallest of the Robinson family, and is an impressively friendly and patient pizza delivery guy himself.
- Moana has the benevolent goddess Te Fiti, who creates life around her when needed. However, if she ever loses her heart, she will transform into her magmatic alter-ego Te Kā, who is very dangerous when faced unpreparedly.
- Mulan: Chien-Po is soft-spoken and loves to eat more than anything, but his Stout Strength is such that he can lift the weight of several fellow soldiers and a horse, all at once. He's even a bit of a Cuddle Bug, too.
- The Princess and the Frog: Louis is a humongous alligator who is nothing more than a friendly guy who simply wishes to join in a jazz band, where he can play his trumpet with them.
- Tangled: Many of the Pub Thugs from the Snuggly Duckling may look threatening on the surface thanks in part to their huge sizes, but once you get to personally know them, they turn out to be friendlier than you might expect, especially since they're all Reformed Criminals.
- Tarzan (1999): Tantor is a giant red elephant who is also a Lovable Coward.
- Treasure Planet:
- First mate, Mr. Arrow. He's an enormous creature apparently made out of rock, yet he's the most approachable member of the crew. Until he gets killed, that is.
- To an extent, old John Silver himself from the same movie, though his level of "gentleness" is questionable, given that he's something of a villain character. He's not the most villainous character in the movie, though. That'd be Scroop, the scorpion... thing.
- Wreck-It Ralph: Ralph. Nine feet tall, 643 pounds, and a bit of a temper on him, he possesses Super-Strength that lets him utterly demolish the Nicelanders' apartment building, can split open a jawbreaker which Vanellope said was unbreakable, lifts and trashes much of the racing stadium, is rather Hot-Blooded and will utterly thrash anyone who threatens someone he cares about... but outside of this, he's the kindest, friendliest, most sympathetic and gentlest of guys you could meet, or want as a friend.
- Zootopia:
- Officer Benjamin Clawhauser is a large cheetah from the Zootopia Police Department with a big heart for others. In fact, he's Judy Hopps' closest co-worker from that agency.
- Gazelle's tiger dancers are all large and hunky enough to stand tall over her. Not only are they charismatic performers onstage, but they're also supportive to the masses, as shown when they set up a peace rally for the predator-prey division alongside their boss.
- Coming from Zootopia 2 is Mayor Brian Winddancer, a hunky Clydesdale stallion and former action star who, despite having been the Lynxley family's Puppet King under Milton's orders, actually does want to help the citizens of the city with their rights, even when Milton coerces him to do the wrong thing. Sure enough, the moment Nibbles Mablestick motivates Winddancer to become like his action-packed roles in his filmography, he soon becomes an Action Hero for real, which naturally leads to the Lynxleys' downfall as a criminal empire.
- The Emoji Movie has Akiko Glitter, the instructor of Alex's Just Dance app with an upbeat and peppy attitude in front of the player(s).
- In Blue Sky's Ferdinand, the title character is an enormous and intimidating bull who wants nothing to do with bullfighting or any other kind of fighting. He would much rather go look at and smell pretty flowers and feels much happier as the pet of an adorable little girl than in an arena.
- As per usual, P.J. Pete is notably portrayed as this in A Goofy Movie: an overweight anthropomorphic cat who, unlike his grumpier father Pete, is a friendly fellow who hangs out with Max Goof.
- Horton Hears a Who! (2008): Horton, much like in the book, is a large, friendly elephant who will do whatever it takes to protect Who-Ville from obliteration.
- Hotel Transylvania has a bunch of monster characters who stand significantly taller than the others. Some of which include:
- Frankenstein, the tallest member of Count Dracula's pack. Just don't trigger him with fire, though.
- Vlad Dracula, Drac's father who, despite his initial misanthropy, is still a caring elderly man to his family, further proven when he has finally accepted humanity as a whole after stopping his former accomplice Bela, who's not only taller, but is also MUCH worse.
- Tinkles, the very excitable pet canine of the Dracula-Loughran family who easily towers over the main characters.
- How to Train Your Dragon:
- Toothless is the first ever dragon to actually befriend humans despite their differing species. After he was literally trained by Hiccup Haddock III into becoming a gentler dragon, he also transforms himself into a Predator Turned Protector as a result.
- From How to Train Your Dragon 2, Valka's Bewilderbeast/Alpha is The Good King of the dragons (a counterpart to the Red Death from the first film and Drago's Bewilderbeast). He has created an icy haven for dragons, helps Valka free captured dragons, allows baby dragons to play on him, catches fish for all the other dragons, and is ready to defend his nest from Drago's army. Unfortunately, Drago's Bewilderbeast proves stronger and gores him to death.
- Igor: Eva is a lumbering giant but very sweet.
- The Iron Giant: The eponymous giant is a rather wistful, sweet robot who is horrified when a deer dies in front of him, declares himself not a gun, and gets a lesson on souls from his young human friend, Hogarth. However, threatening to attack him or hurting Hogarth is not advised, as he can very well be a walking arsenal.
- Kung Fu Panda:
- Po Ping is a big, chubby panda with a friendly, enthusiastic fanboy personality.
- Li Shan, Po's biological father who first appeared in Kung Fu Panda 2, is shown to be just as cheery and fun-loving as his son is.
- Monsters vs. Aliens: Ginormica and Insectosaurus.
- Madagascar:
- Melman the giraffe is the tallest member of the Zoosters, and is certainly the gentlest of them.
- From Penguins of Madagascar, Corporal of the North Wind is a polar bear who coos visibly whenever he sees a penguin.
- Pixar:
- Brave has the royal parents of the Kingdom of DunBroch being this in different ways:
- King Fergus is naturally the largest of his entire family, and is very loving and caring towards them.
- Even after Queen Elinor is transformed into a black bear via a cursed cake, she retains her own sense of humanity as proven by her close bonds with her daughter Princess Merida.
- A Bug's Life:
- Cars has Mack, Lightning McQueen's dedicated transporter truck who was already a close friend of the racer himself prior to their arrival at Radiator Springs.
- Finding Nemo:
- Bruce may look like a vicious shark (especially when he first appears) but he’s actually a really nice shark. And he's a vegetarian, too: "Fish are friends, not food".
- Introduced in the sequel Finding Dory is Destiny, a whale shark who's the titular Dory's old "pipe pal". In fact, this is Truth in Television, as whale sharks are actually docile and gentle sea creatures, with their carnivorous diet being mostly limited to planktons.
- The Good Dinosaur:
- The agrarian Apatosaurus family, but the ones who stood out the most are the youngest child Arlo, the patriarch Henry and his widow Ida.
- The nomadic Tyrannosaurus rex family, which consists of the patriach Butch, and his children Ramsey (the daughter) and Nash (the son).
- Hoppers: Ellen Bear, as her name suggests, is a giant black bear who, despite her intimidating presence, is actually deeply friendly to others, even to humans in the end.
- The Incredibles: Bob Parr/Mr. Incredible is a 6'7, very buff man endowed with super strength. As a superhero, he's certainly not above using his strength in battle, and his anger can sometimes get the better of him, but he still has a very sweet, goofy personality and is friendly and welcoming to everyone he meets until they give him a reason not to be. He genuinely loves helping others and is shown to be very kind, gentle, and loving towards his wife and children.
- Inside Out:
- Out of all the five original emotions of Riley, Joy is the tallest among them. She may get sobby or even testy, but she'll always be there for Riley with the other emotions.
- Bing Bong, Riley's childhood imaginary clown-like elephant friend who also befriended Joy. While he wants to be remembered by Riley again as he's slowly starting to fade away, he ultimately sacrificed his chance for that by instead helping Joy at the Memory Dump, though his final request to Joy is to "take [Riley] to the moon" for him.
- In the sequel Inside Out 2:
- From the newer set of emotions, Embarassment, who is shy but kind, now takes Joy's position as being the tallest among all of Riley's emotions.
- The Deep Dark Secret, despite his gloomy and haunting appearance, is actually a Shrinking Violet who is supportive rather than intimidating.
- Luca: There's Massimo Marcovaldo. He's a passionate monster hunter who is Giulia's (appropriately) massive father. Despite this, he's a loving man who cherishes his daughter, takes care of his pet cat Machiavelli, and is more than willing to give up his monster-hunting ways thanks to the namesake Luca Paguro and Alberto Scorfano, both of whom are Guilia's best friends who are sea monsters themselves.
- Monsters, Inc.: James P. Sullivan, especially considering he takes advantage of his fearsome appearance to scare kids to collect their screams as energy. The difference between his job persona and amiable personality is pulled off very well; when we've become used to him as an Ugly Cute fatherly figure, it's quite a shock to see him in full-on scare mode.
- Toy Story: Rex may look like an intimidating dinosaur, but he is a kind toy with a very sensitive heart. He is also considered the kindest character in the films.
- Turning Red: Mei Lee transforms into a huge red panda whenever she experiences strong emotions but remains a sweet, caring, loyal, dorky kid and makes for a fantastic hugger in this form.
- Brave has the royal parents of the Kingdom of DunBroch being this in different ways:
- Robots: Bigweld is a round-bodied floating robot who serves as the Honest Corporate Executive of his namesake Bigweld Industries. He's also an idealistic inventor whom Rodney Copperbottom idolizes since the beginning, to the point where he even becomes Rodney's Mentor Archetype.
- Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken: The titular character was initially worried about her kraken heritage due to its unpredictability. but with the encouragement of Chelsea Van Der Zee (who is Queen Nerissa in disguise), she started to get used to it, and even then, she's still able to handle it responsibly.
- Shark Tale: Lenny, despite being a shark, doesn't actually like being predatory; in fact, not only he prefers being a vegan, but is also good friends with other creatures from the bottom of his own kind's food chain, including both Oscar and Angie.
- Shrek:
- The titular character was originally a misanthropic loner of an ogre who never hurts anyone unless they deserve it.
- Dragon, seemingly vicious at first, turns out to have a soft side and becomes Donkey's girlfriend.
- Sing:
- Meena is a gigantic elephant with a Shrinking Violet personality.
- Johnny the gorilla is also one of the larger contestants and a Nice Guy who doesn't want to work in the criminal gang of his Killer Gorilla father.
- Studio Ghibli:
- Castle in the Sky: The Laputan robots can be extremely dangerous (They can shoot lethal lasers from their eyes), but care for innocent birds' nests and put flowers on an ancient grave. And they also defend little girls from Corrupt Bureaucrat types.
- My Neighbor Totoro: Totoro is a giant furry creature, and one of the sweetest souls around.
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984): The Ohmu are whale-sized Big Creepy-Crawlies who look terrifying, but are quite docile and friendly and can resurrect people. Unless you provoke them to attack...
- Super Kid: Big Boy weighs 160kg and is 170cm tall, and he's described as a gentle person in his bio.
- Trolls:
- Biggie, as his name suggests, is one of the largest Trolls, and is also one of the friendliest of his musically inclined kind.
- In the perspective of the Trolls themselves, Queen Bridget is this to them even from the beginning. As a Bergen herself, she defies eating them despite her kind's old tradition of eating Trolls as a means of finding happiness, instead choosing to befriend them and enjoy the music they provide.
- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit: The titular Were-Rabbit is a hulking, nine foot tall leporine beast capable of tunnelling as fast as a car can drive, can hurl huge trees with little effort, and leap several storeys in the air while carrying a person, but it's still only as vicious as a regular rabbit and only has an insatiable appetite for vegetables, meaning it's no threat to people. However, vegetable growing is Serious Business to the townsfolk.
- The Wild Robot (2024):
- Roz is a ROZZUM unit who, after her long-time stay in a stranded island, develops several emotions upon interacting with the numerous animals there, such as Fink, Brightbill and Pinktail.
- To a lesser extent, we also have Thorn, who later became Beary Friendly under the influence of Roz's developed sense of compassion as a robot herself.
