In this 2000 film, Leslie Nielsen stars as Richard "Dick" Dix, who must rescue President Bill Clinton from aliens. It Makes Sense in Context, doesn't it?
This movie was made by Allan A. Goldstein, and not by Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker.
Tropes:
- Damsel in Distress: Spoofed in a scene where the Action Girl knocks out all the guards, then thanks Dick for saving her.
- Hand Cannon: Dick briefly wields a ridiculously over-sized Magnum at the end in a Shout-Out to Crocodile Dundee.Dick: Those aren't guns... [Draws a revolver the size of his torso from his pants] That's a gun!
- In Name Only: The movie starts with obligatory spoofs of 2001: A Space Odyssey, including use of Also sprach Zarathustra, then goes straight into The Naked Gun from there. French distributors named it "Y a-t-il un flic pour sauver l'humanité ?", wich invokes the Naked Gun saga, known in france under titles beginning with "Y -a-t-il un flic pour sauver...", even though the movie has no relation with the said saga outside the presence of Leslie Nielsen and its parodic aspect.
- Kill and Replace: The president has been kidnapped and replaced with a clone controlled by aliens. Until it turns out that he hasn't, and the real plot is to trick Dix to "rescuing" the clone and doing the replacement himself.
- Marilyn Maneuver: When a flight attendant (Stephanie Dumolin-Shaw) climbs up a ladder on a space shuttle, her dress blows up from behind due to a lack of gravity, showing off her nearly nude booty that can still be seen through clear pantyhose (she doesn't seem to be wearing any panties), and Dix checks her out.
- No Celebrities Were Harmed: The DVD case actually mentions that all of the aliens are modeled after different famous people, though none of them are actually voiced by those famous people (even the ones still living).
- Recycled with a Gimmick: Literally The Naked Gun In Space!, down to a whole sequence where Frank... Dick accidentally trashes the room he's supposed to be sneaking into.
- Repetitive Name: Officer Dick Dix, a.k.a. Dick Dicks.
- Taught by Television: The aliens are revealed to have learned their English mostly from watching Earth TV and mimicking famous celebrities, with some more obvious ones doing impressions of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack Nicholson.
- Toilet Humor: Dick tries to use the toilet on the shuttle ride to the moon, but the artificial gravity fails the moment he sits down, and his attempt to get seated again results in him being launched by his fart toward the front of the ship, whereupon his suspender straps catch onto the aisle seat head rests, catapulting him back, where he farts himself forward again, rinse and repeat until the shuttle lands.
- Whole-Costume Reference: Reference nothin', that's practically the same suit Frank Drebin wears!
