On the Other Side of the Tracks (De l'autre côté du périph in French) is a 2012 French action/buddy cop comedy film directed by David Charhon.
Two mismatched French cops, Ousmane Diakhité (Omar Sy) and François Monge (Laurent Lafitte), team up to investigate the murder of a business mogul's wife.
The film got a sequel ten years later, The Takedown.
This film exhibits the following tropes:
- Calling the Cops on the FBI: Ousmane was spying on a drug deal and taking photos, and the deal is suddenly interrupted by regular cops, ruining his operation. Then he gets arrested as a result of the chase while the criminals escape.
- Chase Scene: The ruined drug deal at the beginning degenerates into a three-way chase between the criminals, Ousmane and regular police forces.
- Destructive Saviour: Ousmane's actions tend to cause property damage.
- Shout-Out: When François is having sex with his girlfriend, there's a poster of the 1981 film Le Professionnel behind him.
