The Leviathan
is a Harry Potter / X-Men crossover fanfiction by WrfitingShop12
on Archive of Our Own.
While Harry Potter's strange journey back in time may have freed him from the cruel abuse of Privet Drive, he only traded one hell for another. Winding up in Auschwitz at the tail end of WWII, he is taken in by Erik Lehnsherr and his mother Edie, who treat him as their own. Sadly, the cruel man who would one day be known as Sebastian Shaw became fascinated with Harry, whose magic combined with an energy-draining mutation meant that the young Potter boy was subject to being tortured for experimentation. Eventually, he and Erik were able to escape their prison, but sadly without their dearly deceased mother. Hardened by trauma and and overflowing with power, the two Lehnsherr brothers set out on a globetrotting quest for vengeance...
The Leviathan contains examples of:
- Abled in the Adaptation: Bellatrix is much less mentally ill here, thanks to living in a better environment than the Pureblood society of Magical Britain
- Adaptational Badass:
- Harry, like you wouldn't believe. His limitless energy-draining powers combined with his magic makes him almost invincible, and that's before he gains the power of the Space Stone.
- Emma Frost takes Loki's Scepter for herself after the Chitauri invasion.
- Ororo Munroe gets a power boost from Harry, and later gains a pair of enchanted swords as her personal weapon.
- Adaptational Jerkass: Harry is a good man to his family, friends and mutantkind, but rather apathetic to the rest of humanity. He also has a very short temper.
- Adaptational Name Change: Harry is known as ''The Leviathan" rather than "The Boy Who Lived".
- Adoptive Name Change: Zig-Zagged. While Harry primarily goes by his brith surname, he has no issues with being called "Harry Lensherr" as well.
- Death by Adaptation:
- Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange and their parents, get annihilated by Harry at Bellatrix's request.
- Sebastian Shaw meets his grisly end at the hands of Erik, who tears him apart from the inside out with iron pieces.
- Dies Differently in the Adaptation:
- Instead of having his body destroyed when his Killing Curse rebounds at Godric's Hollow, Voldemort gets the energy and life drained out of him by Harry.
- Cygnus Black dies the same way, being murdered in his sleep by Harry.
- Grindelwald gets his mind torn apart and life drained by Harry.
- The Dreaded: No one, and I do mean no one, wants to mess with Harry unless they're a suicidal madman. He's feared all over the world, mainly because he has a never-ending supply of pure force to use at his disposal.
- If You Ever Do Anything To Hurt Him: In chapter 4, Erik walks in on Harry and Emma looking very satisfied with ruffled clothing. He surmises what they just did, and then gives Emma the customary "older sibling death threat".Erik: Hurt him, and I kill you. No warning, no second chance. You will be dead before you even know there's a threat coming your way.
Emma: I understand. However, hurting him is the last thing I desire.
Erik: It better be. - Inconvenient Summons: Harry and Bellatrix are not amused at being summoned to Hogwarts via the Goblet of Fire when the two are naked and about to have sex. Harry magically forces everyone in the Great Hall to Head Desk, because only Emma and Ororo are allowed to see him and Bella clothesless. The two then vanish off to explore the school and find a good place to make out, leaving the staff and students in complete disarray.
- I Want Grandkids: When Lily reunites with her time-displaced son, she's delighted to hear that he and his wives are trying for children, as she's rather pleased with the possibility of being a grandmother.
- Magic Eater: Harry can devour magic energy thanks to his mutation. According to him, the Black and Lestrange family manor wards taste absolutely delicious.
- Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Harry drops one before draining the life out of one of Shaw's terrified Nazi minions in chapter 3.Muller: Y-You're like him! A demon!
Harry: No, I'm much worse. - Revenge Is Sweet: In chapter 3, Harry and Emma Frost hunt down her abusive, greedy relatives and kill them for selling her off as a Sex Slave. The Frosts barely put up any sort of fight at all.Emma: I thought this would be more… difficult.
Harry: You are unsatisfied?
Emma: Not at all. I feel fucking fantastic. Whoever said revenge was a hollow thing must have been on crack because I feel high as a kite right now. - Shout-Out: The mutant race names their underwater civilisation Rapture.
- Spared by the Adaptation:
- Thanks to their time-travelling son killing Voldemort at Godric's Hollow, James and Lily Potter are alive and well, and even get to meet their son as an adult.
- Sirius Black was not framed for murder in this timeline, so he was never sent to Azkaban.
- Super-Empowering: Harry can use the energy he absorbs to give power boosts to his allies.
- Touch of Death: Harry's energy-draining powers have granted him this ability. Because the human body has a surprising amount of bio-electricity running through it, Harry is capable of draining that electricity to kill them in an instant.
