The Amazing Digital Fight Club (also known as the Boxer AU) is a The Amazing Digital Circus Fan Verse created by burrotello (real name Brynn Lewis), which is boxing-themed instead of circus-themed.
Much like in the original series, the story centers around people who get trapped within a video game. However, in order to get out, they need to fight in a boxing championship and get to the highest ranks. In an interesting twist, some characters may choose to stay, mostly for either money, fame or both.
The AU doesn't have a narrative yet, but its info can be seen in burrotello's Tumblr
and Twitter
pages.
An upcoming official animation by BlipToons is in the works, which can be supported on its Kickstarter page here.![]()
"Well, let's not waste any time; LEEEEEEET'SSS GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEE!!!":
- Action Girl: Pomni, Gangle and Ragatha, the latter even having various bandages on her body.
- Adaptational Badass: Naturally, in this AU, the trapped humans here are all boxing fighters rather than just circus members who, at most, were seen carrying weapons in canon rather than having actual combat experience.
- Adaptational Curves: Many characters have bustier, fleshed-out appearances here to match with the boxing aesthetic compared to the more cartoony, simplistic and, in most cases, toy-like appearances their canon counterparts have on the circus:
- Pomni has more feminine (even if petite) curves emphasized by her Leotard of Power.
- Ragatha becomes more curvy than she is in canon, and her croptop and pants emphasize them.
- Kinger's upper body is more robust here.
- This Zooble has strong limbs while the canon Zooble's are leaner. Their chest and hips are also more robust than canon.
- While still lean, Jax is still fairly muscled.
- Adaptational Gender Identity: Implied with Bubble, whose info. card
assigns them "they/them" pronouns, in contrast to how he's clearly defined as male in canon. - Adaptational Jerkass: Kinger aka “Kingpin.” In canon, he’s a nice guy, albeit off his rocker from being in the circus longer than anyone. Here? More stuck up and out for himself and for the money.
- Adaptation Dye-Job: Pomni here has dark hair instead of brown.
- Adaptation Name Change:
- Jax here is named "Jackrabbit" or "Jack" (his info. card
does call him "Jax", though in a more irrelevant manner). - Princess Loolilalu is named "Lila" and Gummigoo is called "Migo", both of which are nicknames.
- Jax here is named "Jackrabbit" or "Jack" (his info. card
- Adaptation Personality Change: Gangle is noted to be boisterous and charming when her Happy Mask is intact, compared to the meek girl she is in canon.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: Loolilalu and Gummigoo are enemies thanks to Caine programming them that way. Here, Lila and Migo actually get along pretty okay.
- Adaptation Species Change: Queenie was a human player who abstracted in the canon show. Here, she's an AI that acts as Kinger's manager.
- Animal Motifs: Gangle has cats, much like in canon. Though it's more obvious here with her mask resembling cat ears.
- Ascended Extra:
- The Gloink Queen, who's just the Monster of the Week in the original series' pilot (and a guest character in Episode 4), is more relevant in this AU, being Zooble's brutal manager.
- Loolilalu and Gummigoo are only characters in Episode 2, with Gummigoo also returning later in Episode 4. Here, they are far more prominent as trainers.
- Big Bad: Jackrabbit is the antagonistic grand champion Pomni needs to beat in order to achieve her goal, though it's heavily implied that there's someone else behind him.
- The Big Guy: Zooble here is a hulking amalgamation brawler who's second on the leaderboard in the championship and has the highest number in the strength stat, but the lowest in agility.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: Bubble knows about all of the corruption going on behind the scenes. But they don't think any of it is bad, so why tattle?
- Canon Immigrant: Able is a fan character created by sm-baby
, but he's featured in this AU regardless. - Cheshire Cat Grin:
- As befitting his canon counterpart, Jackrabbit has one on his face.
- Gangle also has one of these on her joy mask.
- Color-Coded Characters: Pomni, much like in canon, is characterized by the colors red and blue, as seen not only by her eyes, but also in her gloves and handbands.
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: There are three main colors used to symbolize a character's opinion on the others: Blue (like), yellow (neutral), and red (dislike); although they can be mixed together. Queenie uniquely uses the color pink to symbolize her relationship with her "spouse" Kinger.
- Does This Remind You of Anything?: Zooble has a pair of markings on their chest that look a bit like top surgery scars.
- Evil Overlooker: On the cover poster, Jackrabbit can be seen looming ominously over everyone in the background.
- Fan Music: There are some fan songs made by Dandy
and Desolo Zantas
, mostly centered around the video game aesthetic. - Fighting Game: The Digital Circus itself is reimagined as one: the Amazing Digital Fight Club.
- Fragile Speedster: Gangle, aka "Slink", is an Agility-based fighter with an excellent AG score and counterattacks focused on evasion, but also has the lowest Strength of any fighter in the tournament.
- Gold Tooth of Wealth: Caine, Pomni's greedy manager, has a gold tooth here, along with his companion Bubble.
- Hated by All: Jackrabbit, much like canon Jax, is practically despised by almost everyone, if not seen neutrally at best. Only his manager Able flat out admits to liking him.
- Hotter and Sexier: Marginally, but there's a lot of characters whose redesigns take them from cartoony to actually quite attractive. Pomni, in particular, is dressed in just a leotard and has something of an Amazonian Beauty about her in contrast to her canonical design as a highly stylized rubber doll-like figure.
- I Choose to Stay: Downplayed. The Digital Fight Club is escapable, but only if the players win the championship. Many of those who have stay anyway for various reasons.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Caine does genuinely care about Pomni and sympathizes with her need to escape and succeed. His info card even suggests that his code gives him "a bit more expertise in human empathy than many believe."
- Large and in Charge: The Gloink Queen is Zooble's manager and twice their size.
- Mentor Archetype: Migo is the tutorial NPC who teaches newcomers how to fight. He's an encouraging fellow during spars and Pomni grows close to him during training.
- Mighty Glacier: Zooble has the highest number in strength, but the lowest in agility.
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Zooble has four arms and is the second-strongest fighter overall.
- Nice Girl:
- Lila is easily the most loving person in the cast. Even Jackrabbit is only disliked by her, which is a better opinion than what most have of him.
- Ragatha (who's Lila's rookie, nonetheless), much like in canon, is also implied to be this, as her info. card says she's "too kind for [her] line at work" and "too soft for her own good". It also says she's a heavy hitter, though.
- Non-Human Head: Able has a hand of playing cards for a head. Same goes with his brother Caine and his denture head, obviously.
- One Stat to Rule Them All: Each brawler, save for Ragatha, has 10 (the highest number) in different stats: Pomni and Kinger have 10 in dexterity, Gangle and Jackrabbit have 10 in agility, and Zooble has 10 in strength.
- Sibling Rivalry: Able asserts that his relationship with Caine is strictly this.
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: Jackrabbit's bio assures us that he's definitely not interested in leaving — he's just curious about what comes after the championship is all!
- Three-Stat System: There's technically four (with HP), but there's three stats which define the three brawler types: agility, dexterity and strength, as seen in the info cards
.
