William Frederick Durst (born Frederick Allen Mayne III on 20th August 1970 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, and director. Professionally known as Fred Durst, he achieved worldwide fame and success as the frontman of the Nu Metal band Limp Bizkit, although his music has amassed a polarizing reception from critics, metalheads, and music enthusiasts. He would engage himself in the film industry during Limp Bizkit's hiatus back in 2006, going on to act in bit roles for a couple of films as well as pursue directing. For his music, he fronts his own record label, Flawless Records.
Fred Durst is a rather interesting figure on his own. For one, he joined the United States Navy in 1988, only to drop out in 1990. However, it was his experience in the Navy where he met his first wife, Rachel Tergesen, in Oakland, California. They married in 1990 and divorced in 1993. Since then, Durst had three more wives: Esther Nazaroy (married and divorced in 2009), Kseniya Durst (married in 2012, filed for divorce in 2018), and Arles Durst (married in 2022).
Durst is also known for his feuds with other singers within the rock and metal scene, with examples including Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Taproot, Placebo, Creed, Trent Reznor, Marilyn Manson, Puddle of Mudd, and, of all people, Britney Spears. That said, Durst has since buried the hatchet with most of those feuds and has remained on good terms with the people involved, even paying tribute to former Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison in one of his tour performances after Jordison died in 2021, and even getting to play with Corey and Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson in 2024.
Durst has two children: a daughter with Rachel named Adriana, and a son with actress Jennifer Hayer named Dallas. He also has a pet dog, aptly named Bizkit.
