CITV (Creator)
CITV was the collective name for all ITV output and programming directly aimed at children, originally starting as an afterschool programming block in 1983 and growing into its own channel in 2006.

In 2023, it was announced the CITV channel would be closing, with all present and future children's content absorbed into the ITVX streaming service. While the channel closed September 1st, the CITV brand continues to be used on the sister ITV2 channel for a full seven-day block of programming in the mornings until April 10th, 2026, where the block will shut down for good, ending the brand after 43 years.

It was ITV's answer to The BBC's CBBC.

From 2009 until 2013, CITV also had a preschool block called Mini CITV, which housed most of CITV's preschool programming, similar to The BBC's CBeebies and Channel 5's Milkshake! block. In 2013, Mini CITV was dropped, though CITV continued to air some preschool shows for a while. In 2018, preschool programming returned to ITV, in the form of a programming block on ITVBe called LittleBeLittleBe later ended on May 31st, 2024, almost a year after CITV closed down.

Not to be confused with the Global Television Network-affiliated (and formerly independent) television station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with the CITV call sign.
