Main Duo

    Sarah
Characters in YOLO Crystal Fantasy

One of the two female leads, a gentle girl with a love of partying.

  • Bare Midriffs Are Feminine: She wears a pink top that shows her muffin top.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Outside of her love of partying, Sarah yearns for something to give her life more meaning.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In the pilot Sarah had the exact same personality as Rachel.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Without Rachel in her life, she tends to find success. When Rachel disappeared into Bushworld, she married a nice man and had a daughter, and after becoming a widow, she found success at pottery as a millionaire. After Rachel mutes her in Season 2, she becomes a viral sensation for her garden photo.
  • Green Thumb: She finds she has a knack for gardening in Season 2 and is able to create a truly beautiful garden in her backyard. She initially gains viral fame for this from Instagram photos, only to learn her fame was from people thinking her photos were meant to be ironic as "satire on the gardening girl trope".
  • Historical Beauty Upgrade: In "Chaise in the City" Sarah is drawn in a more refined style that accentuates her pretty features...and her muffin top.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Sarah tends to fall for shallow men. Ironically her taste in boys as a teenager was far more astute, as she once drunkenly tried cracking onto a boy at a party, only for him to decline since he didn't want to take advantage of a drunk girl.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: She wishes she had a man who would love and appreciate her, and often finds herself fantasizing about different men in each episode.
  • Morality Pet: Deconstructed. She serves as one to Rachel, but Rachel is a toxic, violent person who is possessive of Sarah and apathetic to her feelings most of the time. Sarah's frequently shown to blossom as a person when Rachel's out of the picture.
  • Not So Above It All: There are times when she can be just as selfish as Rachel, but nowhere near as frequent as Rachel is towards her. She can also party just as hard as her bestie and get just as drunk and stupid.
  • OOC Is Serious Business: During the season one finale, Sarah is so enraged when she finally gets a call from Rachel (ten years after she disappeared and everyone thought she was dead) and discovers she's been partying this whole time, scathingly states "Never. Call me. Again." before hanging up.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She regularly finds herself falling for guys and hoping it might be serious. She infamously acted like she had a devastating break-up with a guy named Brad, despite Rachel pointing out they only had one date.
    Sarah: It FELT special.

    Rachel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_8243_2.jpeg

One of the two female leads, a boisterous woman who is known for being a "toxic bitch".

  • Ambiguously Human: Played for laughs when the headmaster of her old school calls her a demon. Rachel denies this before SPITTING LITERAL ACID on the ground and admitting that the headmaster is probably right.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She can be a massive bitch on a good day but doesn't believe it's right to hassle teenagers forced to work minimum wage jobs because they put up with enough abuse as is.
  • Fat Bitch: Mean all over, and overweight to boot.
  • Fat Slob: It's shown that she lives in a dirt hole on a pile of actual trash, and she has no issue talking about her bodily functions and overall lack of hygiene. A potential murderer threw her and Sarah out of his van after listening to Rachel talk in detail about how sweaty and gross she was. It's the point she was actively targeted by a cult who planned to sacrifice her for being the foulest, dirtiest creature in the land.
  • The Hedonist: She's a chaotic force of nature that only cares about partying, partying, and more partying.
  • Hidden Depths: The third season reveals she's an extremely talented artist with a knack for character designs, and is smart enough not to put all her energy in work-for-hire commissions to avoid creative burnout.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: She might be a self-admitted toxic bitch, but she does legitimately care about Sarah and even loves her (but would be hard pressed to openly say it to Sarah's face).
  • I Love the Dead: She starts pretending Mega Bilby's skull is her living boyfriend, graphically making out with it, sharing a bed with it, and it's implied she's had sex with the mound of trash it's on top of. Though it's not clear if the skull came to life as a result of Rachel pretending it was, or if she's gone so insane we're seeing it talk from her point of view.
  • Irrational Hatred: She completely loathes Stacy, which was first mentioned in the original YOLO shorts and was carried over into Silver Dynasty. Rachel thinks Stacy's a bitch for some unexplained reason, and has no issue demonically ranting about how much she hates her, but pretends to be friends with Stacy in a really phony way.
Rachel (to Sarah as Stacy approaches): Fuck, Stacy's coming over. I hate that bitch. I hate her! I HATE THAT FUCKING BITCH! I FUCKING HATE THAT FUCKING BITCH! I FUCKING HATE HER-!!!!
    Stacy: Hi guys!
    Rachel: Oh hi Stacy!
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She's normally disinterested in Sarah's dating habits, but still acknowledges her bestie only had a single date with the guy she "broke up" with.
  • Kavorka Woman: Rachel is overweight and slovenly with a tacky fashion sense, but has a more active sex life than the more conventionally attractive Sarah.
  • Sanity Slippage: In the Silver Destiny finale, Rachel kind of goes a little... utterly batshit nuts after muting Sarah and constructs an entire imaginary life with Megabilby's skull as a dummy boyfriend.
  • Shout-Out: She transforms into one of the glowing red "ERROR" signs used as a placeholder for a model that doesn't exist for games using the Source Engine in the original flash animation when dancing at a party with Sarah.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: She's a bad influence on Sarah and everyone knows it. All of their other friends stopped hanging out with Sarah specifically because of Rachel.
  • With Friends Like These...: Frequently throws Sarah under the bus for her own selfish enjoyment, like ditching her at Maddison's party and attempting to steal Sarah's Nan's "priceless inheritance rubies" after the old woman dies.

Supporting Characters

    Lucas The Magnificent
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_8244_5.jpeg

A wizard, and old classmate of the girls, who has a massive crush on Sarah.

  • Aborted Arc: He develops a crush on Sarah during the pilot and says that he will do whatever it takes to get "his kissy". However, this is never brought up throughout the rest of the season. This is subverted in Season 2, by having Lucas decide to become an alchemist and go on a quest to obtain a Love Potion to make Sarah love him.
  • Canon Welding: He's a character of the same name created by Michael Cusack, used to make fun of "euphoric" fedora-clad atheists.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He thinks he's one for Sarah, but the end of Season 2 shows him realizing how toxic this mindset is when he's forced to team up with three guys who're just like him. When they all end up getting killed proclaiming it's "for love", Lucas realizes getting yourself killed to show how much you love a girl is self-defeating and manipulative. Specifically because it means you won't get to be with her and because it's more for the sake of guilting said girl into loving you posthumously.
  • Evil Makes You Ugly: A combination of his cursed trilby and his attraction to Sarah is what made him look so ugly. When he tries being platonic friends with Sarah, his looks improve noticably.
  • Jerkass Realization: At the end of Season 2, he seems to have a legitimate realization that he's acted gross around Sarah and genuinely apologizes for making her uncomfortable.
  • Love Potion: Spends all of Season 2 trying to obtain one to make Sarah love him. After going on a quest to get his concoction blessed at Scary Mountain, he finds that it's ultimately futile, and decides that it's wrong to force Sarah to love him.
  • Motive Decay: In his final appearance Lucas zaps Sarah with a shrink ray. Even he's not sure how that plan was supposed to work.
  • Progressively Prettier: Downplayed. He's overweight, has a neckbeard, and sports visible sweat stains under his armpits. Come the Season 2 finale when he has a Jerkass Realization, his usually gonkish design is softened (alongside his voice losing its obnoxious, melodramatic tone) as he apologizes to Sarah for not respecting her boundaries. As such, he doesn't magically become handsome, but he does become more human. This is immediately undone in the season 3 premiere, to an extent. While he still has a crush on Sarah he's significantly less creepy, berates others for threatening or acting inappropriately towards Sarah and Rachel, and the lesson he learned from the love potion quest seems to have stuck even though he's gone back to being a full-on nerd.

    Sarah's Parents
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_0156_8.png

Sarah's parents.

  • Ambiguously Human: Both of them are absolutely gigantic, but their daughter Sarah, (as well as her maternal grandmother) are the size of normal humans.
  • Reused Character Design: Sarah's moms design comes from Plasma TV, a previous short made by Michael.
  • Running Gag: Sarah's dad is unable to respond to literally anything in a manner that isn't passive-aggressive as hell.
  • Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: Sarah's dad is not only unable to take no for an answer, but he won't take yes for an answer either, going immediately into passive-aggressive mode.

    Sarah's Nan
Sarah's grandmother, who bequeaths her stash of rubies onto Sarah.
  • Ambiguously Human: She has green skin and can explode at will.
  • Ax-Crazy: Once threatened Sarah with a shotgun for talking back.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She died in her debut episode. She reappears in "The Parents Episode", but only in past tense and that recollection turned out to be a total embellishment.

    Peleeken
A strange creature that Sarah and Rachel occasionally run into.
  • Cartoon Creature: Lampshaded by the minister at his wedding, who isn't sure if the males of his species can actually be considered men.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: He fixed Sarah's car because he desperately wanted approval from somebody.
  • Golden Super Mode: He can transform into a towering golden Peleeken by combining with Ruby and Sapphire Peleeken.
  • Keet: He's very high-energy and desperate for friends.
  • Not Himself: During "The Wollongong Santa Pub Crawl" Peleeken acts far more cynical and obnoxious. He attributes this to being stuck in his own head.

    Sharon
Sarah's sister.
  • Bride Zilla: Sharon's obsession with having a photogenic wedding corrupts her. On the day she turns into a literal kaiju.
  • Fin Gore: Lucas chops off her fingers when she turns into a monster.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She only got married to show up her bitchy bridesmaids who've already got husbands.
  • NO INDOOR VOICE: She screams constantly. Lampshaded by a magpie:
    "Fuckin' Hell, she was loud!"

    Mermaid
An aquatic maiden who aids Lucas in developing a love potion.

    Chimothee Talamet
An acclaimed actor and Sarah's crush.
  • Amiguously Gay: When the director yells cut, Chimothee pukes because he was repulsed by the thought of kissing Sarah.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: When he meets Sarah in the series finale, he vaguely recalls their encounter but dismisses it quickly enough.
  • Hipster: He's well-dressed and introspective, but also a pretentious douchebag whose looks are his only redeeming quality.
  • It's All About Me: Chimothee spends all of his screentime navel-gazing and treating Sarah as his accessory. His biggest red flag being when he forces Sarah to push him around on a chaise while he kisses his own arse.
  • Lean and Mean: He's got a wiry frame and is a lousy boyfriend.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: He's clearly a parody of Timothée Chalamet, with hints of Woody Allen added for good measure.
  • Pretty Boy: He's got the youthfully immaculate features of his namesake.

Crystal Fantasy

    Maddison
A former classmate of the duo who hosts major house parties.
  • Alpha Bitch: Maddison's revered for her high status, but everyone knows she's absolutely heartless.
  • Ambiguously Human: She looks and acts human enough, but her home is an Evil Tower of Ominousness and her minions are imposing dark figures with prisms for heads. Not to mention turning into a horrifying ghoul when Rachel posts an ugly photo of her.
  • Bait the Dog: Maddison seemingly forgave a party guest for spilling a drop of wine on her hand, only to command one of her minions to obliterate the poor woman.
  • Beserk Button: Taking an unflattering selfie with Maddison will invoke her full wrath.
  • Nightmare Face: She turns into something horrifying once she sees what she looks like on social media.

    Mayor Bunga
The mayor/cult leader of Goondawindi and promoter of the Dusty Truck n Donut Master.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The god he was successfully managed to summon through Rachel ended up killing him for being a moron.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Due to his excitable nature, he can't go more than a few seconds without screaming some kind of obscenity.
  • Villains Out Shopping: He bides his time when it comes to acting out his nefarious plan only because the band was playing a sick track.

    Terry
Ruler of the city which hosts the Terry Cup.
  • Bald of Evil: He's got male pattern baldness and murders losing contestants. This is actually an impostor. The real Terry is a Nice Guy.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed. Terry penalises Sarah for seemingly harming a pregnant wheelie bin, but given the match was openly rigged against her it's clear he's just looking for an excuse to make her look bad.
  • Walking Spoiler: The Terry we see is an impostor named Gary. The real Terry is identical, but has "Real Terry" written on his forehead.

    Blue and Red Bush Wizards
  • The Bogan: They talk like low-class Aussies rather than sage Englishmen.
  • Cain and Abel: They're a pair of feuding brothers, with the red one being far less scrupulous than the blue.
  • The Snack Is More Interesting: They call off their feud simply because their mum bought supreme pizza.
  • Wizard Classic: They look like standard fantasy wizards.

    Capricorn
An anthropomorphic star sign.
  • Epic Fail: While trying to talk to Aquarius, Capricorn spontaneously crashed into several tables, with everyone laughing at the spectacle.
  • The Generic Guy: While other starsigns resemble their motif, Capricorn is devoid of anything goatlike, merely resembling a timid woman.
  • Morality Pet: What happens to Capricorn will happen to all born under her sign. As Rachel is a Capricorn, she helps her out. Capricorn later calls her out for having less than charitable intentions.

    Hermit
An old man who can see the future and create portals with his paintings.
  • Fan Disservice: He's impossibly old and completely naked. The way he manhandles Rachel in spite of her protests adds to his unpleasantness.
  • The Load: Not only does he get Rachel stuck in another dimension, but nothing he does helps her get out before he decides to abandon her for a minimum-wage job.
  • Time Abyss: He's been painting for 4000 years. Whether this is in Earth years or his in dimension's years isn't clear, but if the episode's math for the painting's dimension also applies to his realmnote , that means he's likely stretching the lifespan of a normal human nonetheless.

    Queen Ultraviolet
A cosmic deity that takes the form of a giant drag queen.
  • Camp: Her overly bombastic way of speaking is what outs her as a drag queen.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: She's drawn in a more realistic style than any other character to illustrate her grandeur.

Silver Destiny

    Sister One and Sister Two
A pair of suburban hippies.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: They're not offended by anyone who thinks vegan food is crap, but vanquishing their god is punishable by death.
  • Granola Girl: They host vegan sausage sizzles.
  • Hammerspace: Their backyard contains severla acres of bushland.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: They've been part of the lifestyle since the 1970s.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: They onlybappear in one episodes, but they inspire Sarah into growing a garden, which becomes her motive for the rest of the season.

    Sarah's Boyfriend
A bat-man that Sarah develops an instant attraction to.
  • Foil: To Lucas. While Lucas is a dumpy dork that idealises Sarah to an unhealthy degree, the boyfriend is a buff dudebro that takes Sarah for granted.
  • Hunk: Downplayed. He's got a muscular build and unflappable confidence, but his shaved head is clearly meant to hide that he's balding prematurely.
  • No Name Given: His name is never said onscreen.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Lucas tears off one of his wings, which turns out to be an ingredient for his arc-long love potion.
  • Winged Humanoid: He's a bat-human hybrid. The wings are just decorative though, as he flies by flapping his arms.

    Mega Bilby
A prehistoric bilby that Rachel takes an interest in.
  • Companion Cube: Duringba spat with Sarah, Rachel uses his skull as a stand-in companion.
  • Dire Beast: He's much bigger and more monstrous than modern-day bilbies.
  • Morality Pet: Rachel develops a literal heart after spending time with him.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Whatever positive effect he could have had on Rachel was cut short as he was killed during the transition back to the present.

    The Bee Kingdom
Anthropomorphic bees that abduct Sarah.
  • Deus ex Machina: The bees are about to execute Sarah, but then a pair of bears come across their hive and gobble them up.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: The Bee Boss is too timid to ask out a girl he fancies.
  • Gag Nose: The Queen has a schnoz not unlike Charlie's.
  • King Mook: The Bee Boss, who is a gigantic bee.
  • Oh, Crap!: After insulting Sarah moments after she'd been crowned Empress of the Bees, the comedian bee realises too late he'd signed his own death warrant.
  • Precision F-Strike: The standup comedian bee responds to Sarah's heckling with a smug "fuck you". Given how uninspired his routine was, it wasn't unexpected.

    Brett Brettington
A talent scout that offers Sarah fame and fortune for her posts about her garden.
  • Amoral Talent Agent: He uses the talent of others to monopolise the arts.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: He wears a gold neckchain with the letter B hanging from it as a sign of his wealth.

  • Visionary Villain: Brett plots to build a conglomerate of famous figures to dominate popular culture across the multiverse.

Rainbow Trinity

    Captain Blurp
Lead singer of Rachel's favourite band Blurp.
  • Emo: Captain Blurp dresses in a melancholic style, sings about things he hates and is secretly angsting about how unfulfilled he is.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He only gets two short scenes, but his death leads to his fanbase vilifying the duo, compelling Lucas to rush to Sarah's aid and fall back into old habits.
  • Suddenly Shouting: They only have one short song, during which the Captain screams about late-stage capitalism and his ex-girlfriend.

    Spider King
An enterprising criminal who plans to brainwash the populace.
  • Bald of Evil: He's balding, with a shaggy combover.
  • Renaissance Man: He's an emcee at a wine villaige and a DJ on top of being king of the spiders.

  • Kick the Dog: The leader crushes Lily, horrifying Sarah.
  • One-Winged Angel: The leader transforms into a giant werewolf after absorbing the soul of Lily.
  • Tattooed Crook: They all have tattoos that make them look like delinquents.

    Computer Glitch
A monster made of pixels that tries to eat the duo.

    Trisha
Sarah's former best friend.
  • Foil: To Rachel, being more functional and sociable. While Rachel has blonde hair and a fake tan, Trisha has brown hair and fair skin.
  • Rich Bitch: Trisha's parents own a ski cabin and Trisha is a micro-manager.

    Joshua the Cabin
A living cabin on a ski mountain.
  • Androcles' Lion: Once his neck pain goes away, he stops being a villain.
  • Does Not Like Men: He kills any man who enters him.
  • Evil Luddite: Joshua goes apeshit when somebody tries to photograph him, due to the unethical usage of AI meaning his likeness could appear anywhere without his consent.

    Council of Tasmania
A race of creativity-siphoning bejng on the island of Tasmania.

    God of Tasmania
The deity that oversees the island of Tasmania.
  • Fan Disservice: She's an overweight Hairy Girl in a very skimpy outfit.

  • Real All Along: Her existence was up in the air for awhile, but it turns out she does in fact exist.
  • Samus Is a Girl: The God of Tasmania is actually female.
