NOTE: Tropes referring to the fictionalised characters from the TV series, specials and film, and associated with their music and videos, rather than real life.''

Representing red in the rainbow motif, Tina is notable for being the best dancer of the group, having been a professional dancer prior to joining, such as playing a showgirl in the Pulp music video "This Is Hardcore". She rarely took lead vocals in the songs, but did get a couple to herself. The TV series generally portrayed her as the bossy one.
- Brainy Brunette: Generally the wise or 'take charge' member of the group. And in Seeing Double, she's the one to guess that the key "under the flowerpot" in a whole row of them is actually under one that has 'the flowerpot' written on it.
- Characterization Marches On: By LA 7, she developed her bossy persona.
- Color Motifs: She's associated with red.
- Commuting on a Bus: Sometimes she would perform with the S Club 3 trio (usually Jo, Bradley and Paul).
- Dancing Is Serious Business: According to her it is. Many episodes involved her growing irritated that the gang's shenanigans were interrupting her choreography.
- A Day in the Limelight: "I'll Be There For You" and "Secret Love" are her main solo songs. She also shares lead vocals with Hannah on "Stand By You".
- Deadpan Snarker: Quite often when sharing the screen with Hannah.Hannah: You know that movie where the androids were programmed to think they were people? Well, maybe we're not actually us. Maybe they're us and we're them and we actually don't realise it?"Tina: You lost me at hello.
- The Diva: In the movie, she thinks her clone's dancing is so awful she bursts on stage and assaults her.
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Played for Laughs multiple times, such as when prepping the others to pretend to be American in Miami 7 or taking a bunch of muscle men through an exhaustive dance routine in LA 7.
- Dye Hard: She had her natural black hair in for the first three albums, but lightened it to brown by the time of Viva S Club and Seeing Double.
- Girliness Upgrade: Often with a more casual fashion sense in the early years, by Hollywood 7, she'd be seen in dresses and fashionable outfits a lot more.
- Going Commando: In the movie, on finding out the clones were made from DNA obtained via their underwear sold online, she remarks that if she had known someone could buy her underwear online, she'd have never worn any.
- Good Is Not Soft: Her character in the TV series was not to be messed with, but she did care about her friends.
- Hufflepuff House: She was the most Out of Focus initially during the Miami 7 days, and never got a single where she sang lead vocals. And the only singles where she got solos were "Bring It All Back" and "Say Goodbye". She would have got a single where she took the lead called "Stronger", but it was scrapped when Paul left.
- Hypocritical Humour:
- Moments after she says she dislikes violence, she threatens Bradley that if he doesn't stop playing video games she'll rip both his arms off and "beat you to death with them".
- And in Seeing Double she makes a show of averting her eyes when the clones jump in the shower with Bradley, but then sneaks a look at them herself.
- Ironic Nickname: Although she was the tallest girl in the band, she was nicknamed 'Teeny'.
- Living Prop: In-universe for an episode of LA 7 where the band make a film. Everyone else is a main character, while Tina's only role is someone performing a dance in the street to distract Bradley from catching the bank robbers (played by Jo and Rachel).
- Ms. Fanservice: Often in bikinis, crop tops, revealing dresses etc. She also gets a scene in a pool for the "Have You Ever" video.
- Team Mom: More so in the Miami 7 days, where she was the wise one of the group.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: With Hannah, especially in the Seeing Double movie. When she knocks the clone out so they can switch, Hannah finds her giggling next to the unconscious duplicate that "I've always wanted to do that".

Arguably the second most prominent male in the band, who got to sing the second verse of "Reach", and the album track Sunshine is named after, as well as B-sides like "Someday, Somewhere" and "Our Time Has Come". In the TV series, he tended to be portrayed as a mellow, slightly unlucky Nice Guy. He was an out gay man at the time, but this was never incorporated directly into either the series or the movie.
- '90s Hair: In contrast to the more timeless hairstyles Bradley and Paul sported, Jon had frosted tips in Miami 7, spiky hair in LA 7 and curtains in Hollywood 7 that he kept for Viva S Club and Seeing Double.
- Ambiguously Bi: His character in the TV series did show interest in women, but did have Homoerotic Subtext with the other boys. In real life he identifies as gay but it's unclear if the persona on the series and movie was as well. In the movie, he says that he doesn't get naked for anyone, unless they "bought me dinner first" rather than specifying either gender.
- Animal Lover: Downplayed. An episode of Miami 7 has him planning to help Howard's alligator escape. He's also a dog lover in real life.
- Brief Accent Imitation: He imitates an American accent when pretending to be a delivery boy in an episode of LA 7, and for the in-universe film where he's playing 'Detective Lee'.
- Canine Companion: Multiple references are made to his dog Molly across the series and movie.
- Color Motifs: He's associated with green in the rainbow motif.
- Covert Pervert: In the movie, he admits to checking Rachel out in the shower. And saw something that made him giggle like a schoolboy.
- A Day in the Limelight: He sings solo in "Sunshine" and "Someday, Somewhere". He and Bradley also share vocals on "Gonna Change the World". After Paul's passing, they also recorded a new version of "Good Times" in tribute to him.
- Everyone Has Standards: It turns out in the movie that he's shy about showering in front of everyone, so he goes into the shower with all his clothes on.
- The Generic Guy: More so in Miami 7 before going slightly Denser and Wackier.
- Genre Savvy:
- In Back to the 50s, he realises that saying "you can't do that" to the police just gets you thrown in jail and advises the rest of them not to say it to avoid it.
- In the first episode of LA 7, he acknowledges the similarities to The Blair Witch Project.
- Intimate Open Shirt:
- In the "Natural" video, he wears his shirt completely open in several Fanservicey shots.
- In the "Alive" video, he wears a shirt with three buttons undone as he dances suggestively.
- Only Sane Man: Often took on this role in comparison to the others, especially when Jo was proving Not So Above It All.
- Pretty Boy: In contrast to the Hunkier appearance of Bradley and Paul. Notably in LA 7, he gets a modelling gig.
- Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: In an episode of Miami 7, when he has to defend himself in court, he rattles of a long monologue full of a lot of big words, and Hannah remarks that she would be impressed if she understood anything he was saying.
- Small Name, Big Ego: When they're arrested in Seeing Double, he tells the police that if they let them go, he'll sign an autograph and give a free copy of their new CD.
- Sophisticated as Hell: The most well spoken of the band, but he gets caught peeing at the side of the road during a press conference in the movie.
- Spiky Hair: He wore his hair this way for LA 7 and the "Reach" video, and in one episode complains about it looking "like straw".
- Straight Gay: Despite being gay, his fashion taste was never bolder or camper than the other boys, aside from a mild reference to him blow drying his hair too much in LA 7.
- Troll: In Seeing Double, he trolls interviewers asking what he misses most about home by saying "tea with the queen". The novelization takes it further by him claiming he was the British pogo sticking champion.

Representing orange in the Rainbow Motif, Paul only really received focus outside the album tracks by singing the last verse of "Reach" and being portrayed as Rachel's husband for the "You" video. But of course he had a much bigger role in the TV series - typically playing the role of the immature but still ultimately dependable doofus of the group. He departed amicably during Viva S Club, and unfortunately passed away in 2023. He and Hannah dated during their time in the band and for a few years afterwards.
- '90s Hair: While his buzzcut for Miami 7 doesn't look very 90s, his frosted tips for Hollywood 7 definitely do.
- Brief Accent Imitation:
- When he plays an American cop in a film within a film for an episode of LA 7, he does a Joisey accent.
- He also puts on an American accent as he says "Hi honey, I'm home" in the "You" video, as part of its 1950s pastiche.
- Brother Chuck: As he had left the band by the time of Seeing Double, and the movie is a Soft Reboot that ignores the continuity of the TV series, they just act as though they've only ever had six members and he isn't referenced. Notably they don't perform any songs that have his vocals in them.
- The Bus Came Back: Although he left during Viva S Club, he started performing with Jo, Bradley and sometimes Tina during the 2010s.
- Butt-Monkey: Often the one to get slapstick. He even willingly dunks his own head in the pond in the "Clever Camp" episode of LA 7.
- Camera Fiend: For the first two seasons of the TV show, he carried around a camcorder. An episode of LA 7 even had him annoying the others by constantly filming them.
- Camp Straight: Despite his canon interest in women, he could sometimes be campy, such as wearing a coconut bra and grass skirt for a luau in Miami 7.
- Career Versus Man: He has a gender flipped version of this in LA 7 when he dates a news reader who tells him to leave the band.
- Color Motifs: He's associated with orange in the rainbow motif.
- A Day in the Limelight: "Love Train" is his most notable song. He also takes the lead on "Good Times", and would have done so on "Alive" had he not left.
- Due to the Dead: The 2023 single "These Are The Days" is accompanied by a video that acts as a tribute to him.
- Easy Amnesia: He comes down with this after a car accident in the Christmas Special, not remembering who he is, and nearly leaving the band because of it.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: His buzzcut for Viva S Club coincided with his desire to leave.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: Many an episode of the sitcom involves the others being annoyed with him.
- Hidden Depths: In the "Clever Camp" episode of LA 7, he shows that he's quite good as a mentor to a child trying to make his kite fly, and it's him who calls the man in charge on the way he's been treating the children.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: He and Hannah share a kiss in an episode of Hollywood 7, nodding to their offscreen romance.
- Manchild: He was portrayed this way in the TV series, particularly LA 7.
- Mr. Fanservice: For the first two albums and seasons, he was the one most often shown in tank tops or shirtless.
- Put on a Bus: He decided to leave the band right before the Seeing Double album came out, and so Viva S Club portrays his departure in the third episode.
- Putting the Pee in Pool: Admits to doing this in an episode of Miami 7.

The quirky, bubbly blonde of the septet, who notably did not get lead vocals on any of the singles or even solos besides "Bring It All Back" and "Say Goodbye". But in the TV series, she was far more prominent as the Cute and Psycho member, ready to rope the others into hare-brained schemes or else happily participate in them herself. Was romantically involved with Paul during their time in the band and a few years after.
- Brief Accent Imitation: She plays an American cop in a film within a film for an episode of LA 7 and does a very thick 'noo yawk' accent.
- Brother Chuck: She dropped out of the reunion for health reasons, and so does not appear in the video for "These Are The Days" beyond archive footage.
- Career Versus Man: In Miami 7, she chooses being in the band over a lifeguard she's fallen for. Though she was planning to have a long distance relationship, he says "I'm an all or nothing sort of guy".
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: The quirky girl of the group. Put it this way - in Seeing Double, she distracts guard dogs by telling them a story via sock puppets. She also talks to the Imagine Spot in an episode of LA 7, and gets scolded for it.
- Color Motifs: Yellow was hers in the whole rainbow theme.
- Complexity Addiction:
- When noticing a house being robbed in LA 7, rather than calling the police, she goes inside and foils it herself completely by accident.
- And when trying to sneak out of a hotel in Seeing Double without paying the bill, she wears all her clothes on top of each other to avoid having to sneak a suitcase out.
- Covert Pervert: When she accuses Paul of looking through a peephole in the girls' changing rooms.Paul: But there isn't a peephole in the girls' changing rooms.Hannah: Oh...(mischievous grin)...well there is in the men's.

- Implied Love Interest: Hollywood 7 and Viva S Club tended to hint that she and Paul were closer than the others, nodding to them being a couple offscreen.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A blonde-haired sweetheart towards the rest of the group.
- Hotter and Sexier: By Seeing Double, she gets a suggestive song called "Hey Kitty Kitty" and in the movie she is the first to strip off and happily shower with the other clones.
- Not So Above It All: A thirteen year old video game exec hits on her in LA 7 and she rebuffs him, but he then responds how much he's worth and all the property he owns and...Hannah: "Do you like Chinese?"
- One-Line Anxiety: In an episode of Miami 7, she's given a walk-on part in a sci-fi film and obsesses over her line "look out". It ends up cut."But the film won't make sense without 'look out'."
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She was a little more tomboyish than Jo, but she still had her pretty dresses.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Her and Paul, who even spend an episode of LA 7 in a never-ending chess game over who gets to do the dishes.

The most prominent male in the group, taking the lead for the group's best known song "Don't Stop Movin'" and rapping as well as singing. If a man was chosen to duet with Jo or Rachel, it was usually Bradley. In the TV series, he was portrayed as a dim-witted fool who was still very caring deep down, and was very popular with the ladies.
- Bad Job, Worse Uniform: He has to spend one episode of LA 7 walking around dressed as a giant hotdog.
- Boy Band: He nearly joins one in the Artistic Differences special.
- Brainless Beauty: Bradley isn't the brightest bulb but he's often given a free pass based on his looks.
- Brief Accent Imitation:
- In Miami 7, he pretends to not just be American, but a Vietnam veteran! When the hotel inspector says he looks too young to have fought in a war in the 70s, Bradley responds "I was in the sequel".
- The LA 7 episode "Making Movies" sees him playing an American in the film within a film.
- The Casanova: His character from LA 7 frequently seemed to pick up various women, and in the movie he can be seen flirting with a hotel maid. The video for "Alive" has him surrounded by a group of girls as he reclines on a couch. An episode of Miami 7 has him attempt to flirt with the judge while he's on trial. Hannah in her autobiography jokes that it was essentially inspired by real life - as girls were constantly fawning over Bradley.
- Color Motifs: His is blue in the rainbow motif.
- A Day in the Limelight: Most notably "Don't Stop Movin'" and "Alive" see him taking lead vocals on the songs. He's also got a big role in the Artistic Differences special.
- The Ditz: In the TV series, he was one of the most inept members of the group. But given his musical talent, he was definitely a Genius Ditz.
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Growing his hair out and wearing it in corn rows saw him being portrayed as slightly smarter in the series, and also taking lead vocals more often in the songs.
- The Fool: In the series, he would often end up in ridiculous situations and still come out on top anyway.
- Like Brother and Sister: Rachel is repulsed when Bradley kisses her clone in Seeing Double because she's used to him viewing her this way.
- Mr. Fanservice: Frequently got a Shirtless Scene or wearing a tight tank top. An episode of LA 7 also saw him becoming a nude art model.
- Romantic False Lead: An episode of Miami 7 sees him becoming this when he travels back in time to the 70s, and Howard's girlfriend falls for him.
- Ship Tease: He and Jo seemed to have multiple hints that they had something going on, including him serenading her while singing "Two in a Million" during the 2001 S Club Party Live tour.
- Token Minority: Although Tina is also mixed race and Rachel is Jewish, Bradley was the most prominent non-white member of the band.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Jo often fought and clashed, even getting quite violent in one episode of LA 7, but they cared about each other very much.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: More so in the TV series, but he's notable in the movie for getting two shower scenes and a sequence where he's lying in bed shirtless. He's also shirtless in the videos for "Natural", "Have You Ever", "Two in a Million" and "You".
- A Wild Rapper Appears!: In a few of the songs, he would start rapping, such as "Do It Til We Drop".

The second most prominent girl in the band after Jo, memorably taking lead vocals for the single "Natural", and indeed being the one to fill in for Jo's lead vocals on songs while she was injured. In the TV series, she was the beautiful one, slightly vain and prone to going through men, but ultimately good hearted.
- All Love Is Unrequited: The running plot of the "You" video is each of the boys showing interest in her, with Paul being implied to be her husband, and then Jo stealing them away as soon as Rachel starts reciprocating.
- Bad Job, Worse Uniform: After losing a client's dog while working as a dog sitter in LA 7, she has to fill in for said dog; he was known for a superhero TV series and goes to conventions in his costume, and Rachel has to wear a costume as his sidekick.

- Beauty Equals Goodness: The series liked to emphasise that Rachel was as much of a Nice Girl as she was beautiful.
- Boob-Based Gag: Two in Miami 7.
- When the girls are expected to wear coconut bras for a luau, Jo snarks that "every time Rachel dances, it'll sound like a stampede."
- When Tina is putting them through boot camp, her line is "chest out...not THAT far out, Rachel".
- But Not Too Evil: When playing the villain of the film within a film in an episode of LA 7, Rachel haggles Jo down to only calling the people they rob from nasty names rather than hurting them.
- Career Versus Man: Her boyfriend disapproves of her flying to Miami, and by the time of the Boyfriends & Birthdays special, he offers her an ultimatum. She initially is ready to go back home, but chooses the band.
- Characterization Marches On: Initially a ditz who was obsessed with her looks in the Miami 7 days, she evolved into a Girl Next Door who was more innocent than actually stupid, and Hannah became the ditzier girl.
- City Mouse: Most notably in Back to the 50s, where she's expecting a prison cell to have a mini-bar, TV and room service. Her response to Paul reminding her they're in jail?"That's why I asked for a small Caesar Salad."
- Color Motifs: She takes violet in the rainbow ensemble.
- Damsel in Distress: In the movie, she gets this twice. First, she, Jon and Hannah are tied up when Victor Gaughan realises they're the real S Club who switched places with the clones. Then, Gaughan nearly kills her personally to make an example of her.
- A Day in the Limelight: "Natural" was her first single where she got to sing lead. The album version of "You" also has her singing all the vocals, which in the single are divided up by Jon and Bradley. She's also lead on "I Really Miss You" and "Do It Til We Drop". She's also the subject of the special Boyfriends & Birthdays.
- Dumb Blonde: Inverted. She was ditzier when she was brunette, and lightening her hair to blonde seemed to make her character smarter.
- The Fashionista: By the Seeing Double period, Rachel was the most fashionable member of the group.
- Good Bad Girl: Portrayed as very promiscuous once splitting up with her boyfriend in the Boyfriends & Birthdays special, but still presented as a good person.
- Graceful Ladies Like Purple: It's probably no coincidence that she the Girly Girl of the group is the one coded with purple.
- Head-Turning Beauty: Rachel is considered a great beauty in-universe. One episode of LA 7 has her blind date faint when he sees her.
- Hotter and Sexier: During "S Club Party", the "wanna see Rachel do her thing?" segment just has her dancing. For the S Club Party Live performance, where this segment would be accompanied by each member doing a bit, Rachel did a sexy dance with her ass right in front of the camera.
- I Was Quite a Fashion Victim: In a Miami 7 episode, she alludes to a phase where she had 'The Rachel' haircut from Friends.
- The Lancer: Often considered the 'number two' of the girls after Jo in terms of prominence. Indeed, an alternate version of "Alive" had Rachel performing Jo's vocals due to her back injury.
- Ms. Fanservice: For sure! The songs she sang had a natural sensuality to them, the "Natural" video has her reclining on the beach in a Sexy Soaked Shirt, in the movie she does a sexy window wash to distract a guard, and notably her segment for a live performance of "S Club Party" had her shaking her ass in front of the camera.
- Proud Beauty: Miami 7 had her obsessed with her looks for a while.
- Pseudo-Romantic Friendship: Her and Hannah seemed to be the closest in-universe, with the second episode of Miami 7 having the two staying up late to have a heart-to-heart.
- Serial Romeo: By LA 7, the others described her finding a man like a wild animal pouncing on its prey. The Seeing Double movie even ends with Rachel hooking up with a clone of Gareth Gates.
- So Beautiful, It's a Curse: She often had to deal with unwanted attention, such as a manager making her take his son to the prom, and getting groped by a Dirty Old Man in the movie.

The face of the band, and the one known for singing lead vocals on most of the singles. Even on ones that divided the solos amongst multiple members, she was usually one of them. In the TV series, she was portrayed as the tough, tomboyish one that you wouldn't want to mess with.
- Bad Job, Worse Uniform: She gets a twofer in one episode of LA 7. First as a Burger Fool, and then having to walk around dressed as a giant burger.
- Betty and Veronica: In the "You" video, she's portrayed as the Veronica to Rachel's Betty; the more exciting partner who steals the men away from the meeker Rachel.
- The Big Guy: Whenever the group ended up in 'action' scenarios in the TV series, Jo filled this role. Notably in Seeing Double, when the guard dogs scare everyone over the fence, Jo just intimidates them into running off.
- Boyish Short Hair: By Hollywood 7, her hair had shortened considerably.
- Brief Accent Imitation: An episode of Miami 7 has her putting on a southern accent to try and fool a hotel inspector. It doesn't work.
- Covered in Mud: Courtesy of a hurricane in Miami 7, she gets carried off and dropped right where they spread horse excrement around the palm trees.
- Color Motifs: She takes indigo in the S Club rainbow motif.
- Good Is Not Nice: She was not to be messed with in the series, and she had no problem thumping her friends for disrespecting her, but she was a good girl at heart.
- Hidden Depths: LA 7 reveals that she's well read on classical music.
- The Lad-ette: The most manly and tomboyish of the S Club girls.
- Motor Mouth: Her character had a tendency to run her mouth.
- Ms. Fanservice: Downplayed compared to the other girls but she does wear a see through top with only a bra underneath in the "Two In a Million" video, has a crop top in "S Club Party" and plenty of beachwear for "Natural".
- Only Sane Man: Sometimes, but definitely in the movie. The others run out of prison and run all over town trying to find Natalie's apartment. Jo just rolls her eyes and walks across the street too where she knows Natalie lives and waits for the others to catch up.
- Singing Voice Dissonance: One could be forgiven for being surprised that she has a very thick Essex accent when speaking, but she starts singing and a booming mezzo soprano comes out.
- Tank-Top Tomboy: The girlier girls of S Club tended to wear crop tops. Jo as the tomboy frequented tank tops like the boys.
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Although mostly a tomboy, she does wear dresses a few times in the series, and had some fancy outfits in a couple of music videos. She also faints when she sees a movie star in LA 7.
- Tomboyish Baseball Cap: Her clone in the movie is wearing one, and she often wore them as casual wear in the series.
- Tomboyish Name: Her full name is Joanne but Jo is obviously a Gender-Blender Name.
- Tsundere: Very combative and abrasive, but her caring side comes out usually around Bradley.
- Wrench Wench: In Miami 7, she's usually the one in charge when the car needs fixing.
"...get ready everybody 'cause here we go!"''
