The Convent

As a group

Characters in Little Nuns

The residents of the convent are divided into "Little Nuns" and "Mentors" in Diva's official character chart. For most of the comic's run, most of the cast (with the exception of Froggy Nun) had unspecified ages. A chart released by Diva on October 25, 2023 clarifies the ages of all "named" characters.

  • Froggy Nun is 8 (already revealed in a strip from October 26, 2022).
  • Clumsy Nun, Spicy Nun and Glasses Nun are 11.
  • Sheep Nun and Hungry Nun are 15.
  • Bunny Nun is 20.
  • Freckles Nun and Leaf Nun are 23.
  • Strict Nun and Smug Nun are 24.
  • Star Nun is 30.
  • Father is 52.
  • Pancake Nun is 58.
  • Mother Superior is 70.

  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": None of their names are known, aside from the nicknames revealed in the artbooks and character charts. Most of them were adapted from fan nicknames based on character traits.
  • Parental Abandonment: Almost every character with known parents is missing at least one parent. Out of the Little Nuns, the only one with both parents actively in her life is Sheep Nun; out of the Mentors, Star Nun, Smug Nun, Bunny Nun, and Freckles Nun are known to be orphans, while Strict Nun lost her father at a young age and ran away from home not long after.

Danbooru currently uses official nicknames, nicknames credited in individual folders are former tags, which have since been aliased.

    Clumsy Nun

AKA: Protagonist Nun (Danbooru), Clum-Clums (Discord)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clumsy_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__59ed6466171cd2a03cdd7ed1be11cf21.png
I like to play! I don't like to study!
Clumsy is the main character of this series and is quite the clumsy girl. Despite this, she does her best to remain positive and always has fun when she plays.
She was also raised in the convent ever since she was a newborn baby.
  • Afraid of Needles: Tried to avoid taking a blood test for this reason.
  • Animal Motifs: Though ducks are are associated with the convent as a whole, Clumsy Nun is especially associated with them, and they're her favorite animal.
  • Born Unlucky: Her plans often blow up in her face, mostly due to her eagerness and klutzy tendencies.
  • Butt-Monkey: Said unluckiness often results in her misfortune and the aftermath of her incompetence being Played for Laughs.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Gets jealous when she sees Strict Nun smiling at Froggy Nun and giving her an Affectionate Gesture to the Head, to the point of trying to get back at her by latching onto Smug Nun and starting an all-out war against the Ribbit Ribbit Gang with her own Quack Quack Gang.
  • Color Motif: Light blue/Bright yellow, the same as her eyes and hair.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She’s called Clumsy Nun by the fans for a good reason.
  • Doorstop Baby: Was abandoned on the convent's doorstep as an infant.
  • Foil: To her roommate and friend Spicy Nun.
  • Heavy Sleeper: She's slept through getting slapped and stomped on by other nuns who were trying to wake her.
  • Like Sisters: Has a very close bond with Spicy Nun.
  • Marshmallow Dream: More than once she ended up biting ducks while asleep. This unfortunately works against her, when nuns have ducklings vote, who they like the most - because this habit of her was pointed out, the lone one she got was from a freshly hatched duckling, who still looked like it would prefer to belong elsewhere.
  • Naïve Everygirl: Clumsy and prone to getting into trouble, but she's a caring friend who always pulls through in the end.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The cheerful and somewhat dumb Red Oni to Spicy Nun’s stoic and often calculating Blue.
  • Sleepy Head: On top of being a Heavy Sleeper, she often dozes off during class.

    Spicy Nun

AKA: Half-Bang Nun (Danbooru), Chili Nun, Left Bang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spicy_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__6b10d9ddd8853629e02b74702e65171e.png
I created the cookie economy. Loves art. Loves spicy food.
Spicy is Clumsy's roommate.
She's very talented at art and is incredibly smart as well.
As her name suggests, she loves spicy food.
She has also created an economic system that uses cookies, and is always up to no good.
Despite her mischief, she is very shy and tends to shy away from people that she doesn't know.
She also has a cat named Pepper.
  • The Ace: Incredibly talented at everything she does.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Keeps trying to make a profit off her schemes, no matter how many times she gets caught and punished for it.
  • Color Motif: Red, the same color as a red pepper.
  • Cool Shades: Pulls out a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses whenever she gets a business idea.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has yellow-blonde hair and golden eyes.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her mother is a presence in her life, but her father has never appeared, assuming he's even still alive.
  • Generation Xerox: Looks and acts like a tiny version of her mother, down to having similar (albeit mirrored) haircuts, a passion for art and spending their childhoods at the exact same convent.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Downplayed: While she's not the most expressive and has a bit of a greedy streak, she's still a sweet girl who cares deeply for her loved ones.
  • High-School Hustler: If the convent has a reward system, be it cookies, star stickers or any variety of trinkets, you can be guaranteed that Spicy Nun will try and get some sort of racket going for those unwilling to work for their reward (which will almost always be cracked down on within a comic or two).
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: Ends up adopting a Cute Kitten that she found on the convent grounds.
  • Lethal Chef: She's actually a good cook, but her addiction to spice is so bad that, after a few mishaps, the convent has actually banned her from cooking detail, with the only other person to have this dubious honor being the Leaf Nun.
  • Like Sisters: Has a very close bond with Clumsy Nun.
  • Not Me This Time: She got a red star after Froggy impersonated her while trying to sell slightly overripe bananas. Luckily for her, the misunderstanding was quickly cleared up.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The stoic and calculating Blue to Clumsy’s energetic, cheerful Red.
  • Shrinking Violet: She gets very timid around strangers.
  • The Stoic: Rarely gets heated, even when things are exploding into chaos around her.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Spices, especially chili peppers. To almost absurd levels even, since she feels compelled to put tons of chilies in and on practically everything she eats in order to enjoy it. The pinnacle of this were her stew and her birthday cake, which were both so spicy that no-one else in the convent could handle even a single portion.
  • Unaffected by Spice: This is obvious, considering her affinity for chili peppers.

    Froggy Nun

AKA: Hook-Bang Nun (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/froggy_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__36986755fcab25a2f934aa25b4415879.png
I'm amazing! I'm big! I'm strong! I'm fast! I'm cool! I'm amazing! I'm smart!
Froggy is a girl who loves frogs.
Her favorite color is green, as evident by all of her green toys. She also has a strong sense of justice and is charismatic which makes her a great leader of the RIBBIT RIBBIT GANG.
However, since she is still a child, she is arrogant and possessive.
  • Animal Motif: There's a reason we call her Froggy Nun.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest of the nuns; she was an infant when Clumsy Nun was a toddler.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: A self-centered troublemaker who tends to label things as her own.
  • Color Motif: Green, the same color as her favorite animal. She even goes so far as to write explicitly in green so that everyone knows it's her note.
  • Companion Cube: A stuffed frog.
  • Country Mouse: Grew up on a farm, and has the outdoorsman skills to prove it.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As omnivorous as she is, even she cannot stomach the idea of pineapple on a pizza. More seriously, she lashes out at Strict Nun's mother with more virulence than she's ever displayed towards visitors, apparently being unwilling to tolerate bad mothering.
  • Extreme Omnivore: She will try to eat anything that even remotely resembles food, including but not limited to an unpeeled banana (this was before bananas became her favorite food), a handful of snow topped with peanut butter and honey, cardboard cookies and banana flavored toothpaste.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Or at least she wants to be.
  • The Gadfly: She causes a lot of trouble, though it's not clear whether she does it for laughs or if she genuinely doesn't realize she's not supposed to do that.
  • Generation Xerox: She inherited her love of frogs from her mother and her signature hooked-bang and frown from her father (and paternal grandmother).
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Her family's farm was next door to Sheep Nun's farm, and she's known Sheep Nun for literally her entire life.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • During one strip set at Mass, while Clumsy gets up to her usual behavior and Strict desperately tries to ignore her, Froggy is seen praying in the background rather than have anything to do with the chaos, implying she actually takes her religion seriously.
    • During the city convent arc, she ends up being hit the hardest by finding out about them wanting to recruit Star Nun, as it turns out she wants to be able to take over Star Nun's role in the main convent when she's older.
  • Horse of a Different Color: Sometimes she rides her pet ostrich. She has also been seen riding a pig and later a deer.
  • Kids Hate Vegetables: Averted completely. Unlike some other nuns, not only she has absolutely no problem with eating vegetables, she even seems to enjoy them.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother suffered Death by Childbirth.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She has never smiled in any of her appearances, though the corners of her mouth have sometimes been slightly upturned when she's in a good mood. It seems to be genetic, since she's been shown frowning even as a newborn and her father has the same triangular mouth.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The rambunctious Red to Sheep Nun's mild-mannered and retiring Blue.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: She thinks very highly of herself.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Gets an increasing amount of focus, to the point where she often overshadows Clumsy Nun.
  • The Stool Pigeon: Often shown leading one of the older nuns to the trouble being caused by the other nunlets. Sometimes even if she herself participated in the act.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Has the same curl, frown, and half-lidded eyes as her father, and also bears a strong resemblance to both her mother and grandmother.
  • Team Pet: She raised her ostrich from an egg.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Broccoli, and later bananas.

    Glasses Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/glasses_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__1b4cac1e82b5a5b53d1fcd4196d08b72.png
I like music...
Glasses is a girl who loves music.
She has a nervous personality and is a little short-tempered, and is also not very good at studying.
Even so, she has amazing musical talent.
Glasses also has a pet hedgehog.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: She's more mature and well-behaved than most of the other nunlets, doing things like initially refusing to wear the chick hat Clumsy Nun made for her because she found it childish and trying to prove her maturity by drinking black coffee.
  • Anger Born of Worry: She enforces a diet on Hungry Nun because she's worried about her health.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Without her glasses, she can't tell a duckling from a lemon.
  • Dumber Than She Looks: Downplayed, she isn't stupid, but she's rather average when it comes to her studies. Though if she doesn't wear her glasses, she can actually get a very low score.
  • Generation Xerox: Inherited her poor eyesight and love of performing from her mother.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite incredible shyness, she has a love of performing, and a great talent for music.
  • Odd Friendship: She and Bunny Nun are very different people, but they have a secret "Cutie Club" to indulge their mutual fondness for cute things.
  • Performance Anxiety: She loves to perform and has an incredible talent for singing and playing music, but she's too shy to perform in front of others, so she usually only does so around stuffed animals instead.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: She spotted them a few times, when she was trying to make other characters (or their pets) eat healthy.
  • Sleepy Head: Not as apparent as Clumsy is, but she's prone to falling asleep in class when things get slow.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Somewhat subverted. Although she's not the smartest, she's not the dumbest either. See Dumber Than She Looks above.
  • Team Pet: She adopted a hedgehog that the nuns caught eating the duck corn.

    Sheep Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sheep_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__6eb030cff5ee16eaef071c6b7099c360.png
She is amazing.
Sheepy is Froggy's best friend and is a very kind and gentle girl.
She is very caring and is always with Froggy.
She is also good at sewing and has made many stuffed animals for her friends.
  • Animal Motif: Grew up on a sheep farm, and is heavily associated with sheep.
  • Extreme Doormat: Usually content to let Froggy Nun walk all over her.
  • Generation Xerox: Before Sheep Nun met Froggy Nun, her mother had a very similar relationship with Froggy Nun's grandmother.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Ever since she met Froggy Nun, they were inseparable. It's to the point where she'll go into a full blown panic if she loses sight of Froggy Nun for a mere 20 minutes.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Notably, she's done both sides of this trope; she was the younger side with Froggy Nun's mother and the older side with Froggy Nun herself. Interestingly, it seems that her mother was on the opposite end of a similar dynamic with Froggy Nun's grandmother.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: She doesn't look any different from the other nuns, build-wise, but on several occasions it's shown that she's incredibly strong, able to do such things as lift a couch off of the floor while Froggy is sitting in it. Growing up on a farm probably had something to do with it.
  • Nice Girl: Incredibly patient and even-tempered, she's never seen getting angry. She has to practice making an angry face when she needs to tell Froggy Nun off for her bad behavior.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Sheep Nun has been shown to be one of the most level-headed characters in the series. This is completely dropped the moment she sees a sheep, unto which she nearly tackle-hugs it.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm, retiring Blue to Froggy Nun's wildly outgoing Red.
  • Satellite Character: Pretty much all of her appearances revolve around Froggy in some way.
  • Teach Her Anger: The one time she had to scold Froggy Nun, she had to practice looking angry.
  • Youthful Freckles: Shares them with her mother.

    Hungry Nun

AKA: Gluttonous Nun (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hungry_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__01ecebb46557ede6eb9c62b21f17a40f.png
I'm good at sports! ...Is there dinner yet?
Hungry is a girl who loves to eat. She is a really big eater and her stomach is pretty much bottomless.
However, she is good in school and excels in sports as well, and everyone views her as an older sister.
  • Academic Athlete: She's excelled at both sports and academics since she was a small child, having learned to read earlier than Leaf Nun, who is eight years her senior.
  • Berserk Button: Don't spoil her food! Or eat it without her permission.
  • Big Eater: She's a massive glutton, though she engages in enough physical activity to make up for it.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Grew up in a single-parent household that was so poor they couldn't even afford food for both of them, leading to her mother secretly skipping meals and putting her own health at risk just so her daughter could eat and didn't have to face the brunt of poverty head-on like she did.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her backstory arc implies her father passed away when she was a little girl.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She despises broccoli.
  • Generation Xerox: Her mother looks like an older version of her. Both are also highly athletic (her mother bicycled, through heavy snow, a distance she had intended to cover via train to get to the convent) and have massive appetites.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: The October 2025 arc saw a young Hungry get increasingly envious of how much attention baby Clumsy was getting. It got to a point where she abandoned the baby on a pile of trash bags in a jealous fit. Thankfully, Clumsy crawled into the chicken coop and hung out there while Hungry realized her mistake.
  • Hidden Depths: As it turns out, she's quite the skilled tap dancer.
  • Obsessed with Food: She is seen eating, or wanting to eat, in almost all of her appearances. This takes a dark turn in her backstory arc, where it's implied her poor upbringing has made her very averse to being hungry.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Athletic and talented at various sports.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: How she wears her hair when she's not wearing her habit.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Donuts; her mother sells them for a living, after all. To a lesser extent, cheeseburgers, though since the introduction of her mother this has seemingly phased out in favor of the donuts.

    Strict Nun

AKA: Scowly Nun (Danbooru), Hairclips, Beauty Mark, Grumpy Nun (old official nickname)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/strict_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__1d30e5be57bbc540adb1661c147baf3e.png
Listen to me!
Strict is a nun who takes things seriously.
She tries her best to be a good role model for the children, which is why she is so strict on rules.
She is Clumsy's mentor and loves her very much.
  • Afraid of Needles: Tried to avoid taking a blood test, just like Clumsy Nun.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Received her own story arc for May 2025.
  • Alcoholic Parent: Her mother turned to drinking to cope with the loss of her husband. After she broke yet another promise to stop drinking, young Strict had finally had enough and ran away from home.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Strict's father was a soldier who was killed in action, which lead to her mother turning to the bottle to deal with her grief and eventually lead to Strict running away and becoming a street urchin. In the first comic showing her past, her only possessions are the clothes on her back, a crudely-written “help me” sign, and a single carrot that she seemingly had to make last over several days. She was then constantly antagonised by Smug Nun, which culminated in them getting into a fistfight. Thankfully she’s mostly mellowed out as an adult, and her rivalry with Smug Nun is a lot less emotionally-charged.
  • Disappeared Dad: While her mother is still alive, her backstory arc implies her father was a soldier who didn't come back from the battlefield.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: One of the flashbacks shows her getting very upset with Smug Nun playing with a baby Clumsy Nun when they were both children, and fighting with her about it. Downplayed in the present, where she just glares at the other nun when Clumsy starts clinging to her.
  • Iconic Item: Very early in the strip's run, Clumsy Nun gives her a set of hairclips for her birthday. She has never appeared without them since.
  • Not So Above It All: Confiscates a maid uniform from the younger nuns only to be caught later trying on said maid uniform
  • Parental Abandonment: Came to the convent as a young child with no sign of any family. The May 2025 arc focuses on her mother suddenly arriving at the convent to talk to her, and Strict's reaction to seeing her again after decades of separation.
  • Parental Substitute: Essentially raised Clumsy Nun, with whom she still has a big-sister-like relationship.
  • Perpetual Frowner: She used to have rather angry expression most of the time. This is reflected in her nicknames, "Grumpy Nun" or "Scowly Nun". She later got better and started smiling more, although her angry expression still comes out every now and then.
  • The Rival: She and Smug Nun have had it out for each other since they were kids. On at least one occasion it's broken down into a full-on shoving match.
  • Terrible Artist: She can't paint, sculpt, draw, or generally do any artistic talent well.
  • Turn the Other Cheek: While she's initially (and understandably) very angry at her estranged mother for neglecting her and refusing to stop drinking when she was young, she eventually comes to forgive her after realizing that her mother regrets what she did and wishes to make amends.

    Smug Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/smug_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__104e7ecff5dc080c943f6e71c0e66af5.png
I am better than her.
Smug is a nun with a self-righteous personality.
She likes keeping a rivalry with Strict.
Despite this, she is very caring and secretly does care about everyone.
  • Competition Freak: She was obsessed with competing with Strict Nun when the latter first arrived at the convent, and their rivalry continues to current day.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Was raised in an orphanage before coming to the convent, and had a serious violent streak she took out on those around her. She's mellowed out quite a bit since then.
  • DreamWorks Face: Her default expression is close to this look, appropriate for someone as egotistical as her.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Smug was an incredibly violent child who would frequently beat up even her caretakers at the orphanage, which eventually lead to her getting sent to the convent after the departure of her "rival" caused her to snap and wreck a bunch of furniture with a bat. It wasn't until Star Nun let her take out her anger on her and gave her the emotional support she needed that she finally showed signs of improvement.
  • OOC Is Serious Business: The May 9, 2025 comic shows Smug Nun with a look of genuine concern for Strict Nun, who's just reunited with her estranged mother. A later comic shows her comforting Strict while she prays for the strength to forgive her mother, with a notably kind expression and none of her usual arrogance.
  • Not What It Looks Like: A nonromantic example, She gives this expression when Strict Nun sees Clumsy clinging to her.
  • The Rival: Has antagonized the Strict Nun since they were children. Later strips depict their relationship as a more friendly rivalry, Smug Nun unable to hold back tears when a rumour surfaces Strict is leaving the convent and the nuns decide to throw a farewell party. When she was in the orphanage, she had a similar rivalry with a girl who had a severe facial burn scar.
  • Screw The Rules, I Have Cookies: Is not above bribing the younger nuns to get an advantage over the Strict Nun.
  • Smug Smiler: Almost always has a smug smile on her face, which is why she's referred to as "Smug Nun".
  • The Perfectionist: Implied from a crumpled sheet of paper that doesn't have a perfect test score. Although it's possible she's just trying to be a show-off to Strict Nun.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She was an absolute terror as a child, but now she sticks to more gently needling the people around her.
  • Tsundere: A platonic type 2 towards Grumpy: she's constantly bickering with her and trying to show her up, but secretly does see her as a genuine friend. This is best shown in an arc where it seems like Grumpy is leaving the convent - Despite trying in vain to uphold their rivalry and her usual persona (to the point of literally holding a balloon with "I hate you" written on it), Smug is a blubbering mess throughout most of it, and is relieved when it's revealed that Grumpy was never planning on going.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: She'll happily try to one-up Strict at basically anything, but if Strict is ever in a bad place then Smug'll usually be the first person other than Clumsy to help her out.

    Star Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/star_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__bd3b4445e3e60eae76114e99e07778ca.png
Don't do anything bad. I see everything.
Star is the leader of the older nuns.
She is strict and values discipline. She also uses star ducks to monitor the children's pranks and to make sure that they are all staying safe.
Her mentor is Spicy's mom, so she cares deeply about Spicy.
Her hobby is fishing.
  • The Ace: Very skilled in an abundance of things, which include but are not limited to: fishing, skateboarding, cooking, and driving.
  • The Beastmaster: Has a network of birds that serve as her eyes and ears, including ducks, geese, owls, crows and hawks.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: All of the younger nuns fear getting on her bad side. Justified because she appears to be in charge of discipline. A red star sticker from her means no privileges for however long she decides.
  • Child Prodigy: As a child she was extremely advanced for her age.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The two-week arc starting on April 29, 2024 shows Star Nun at her youngest, reading a bible at her parents' grave.
  • Eyes Always Shut: She's never opened her eyes on-panel.
    • Her various associate birds (recognizable by signature star ornament) also exhibit this trait.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Holds the Artist in extremely high regard, and has since she was a young girl.
  • Hidden Depths: Fishes as a hobby and is proficient enough to catch a massive catfish. This hobby was passed onto her from the Artist.
  • In the Blood: Intelligence seems to run in the family. Star Nun was a Child Prodigy, while her cousins come from a line of doctors.
  • Irony: Her character description being, "I see everything." considering her usual Eyes Always Shut trope.
  • Not So Stoic: Her expression and bearing changes when she's around the Artist.
  • Only Sane Man: Stays well above whatever shenanigans are going on at the convent.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: When she's not in her habit, she wears her hair this way.
  • Shoe Slap: Tends to discipline the younger nuns by tapping (or threatening to tap) them on the head or shoulder with a fuzzy pink slipper with "love" emblazoned on it.
  • Sigil Spam: Named for the star decoration she wears on her habit, and gives out stars on a regular basis - gold stars if a girl does well, red stars if they earned a punishment. Everyone else in her family wears star decorations, as well.
  • The Stoic: Never lets her emotions show on her face.
  • Tranquil Fury: Expresses her anger through subtle means like making apple juice by crushing the fruit itself with her bare hands.

    Bunny Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bunny_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__a706fa8c4a6adca49621a4adc786fd9f.png
See the patch for my expression.
Bunny is between an older nun and younger nun age wise.
She has very few facial expressions and her emotions can only be seen through her rabbit patch.
Her eyes are very scary and effective on animals whenever they misbehave.
Her favorite holiday is Easter.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Despite being upset when the ducks resented her for trying to hypnotize them into thinking they were rabbits back when she was a child, this didn't stop her from doing the same to Froggy Nun when she became the latter's mentor. She even seems to still have some hypnotized ducks in the present day.
  • Animal Motifs: She's called "Bunny Nun" for a reason.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest of the adult generation of nuns, she's this in the flashbacks to their childhood.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When something sets her off, she can be scary.
  • Companion Cube: Still has the plush bunny she carried as a child.
  • Creepy Child: As a child, she was shown putting her plush bunny in a tiny cage with blank expression, and tried to hypnotize the ducks into thinking they were rabbits. She was remorseful and heartbroken when the latter led the ducks to dislike her, however.
    • Goes even further in the May 2026 arc, where Bunny is the creepiest child at the orphanage that she was dropped off at. She does it unintentionally, but the other children can't get past her blank stare and the fact that she carries around sharp knives (while cooking, but still).
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Has these whenever angry, upset or performing hypnosis. Her companion duck seems to have these permanently.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Occasionally dresses up in frilly, rococo-styled dresses, usually whenever she's attending Cutie Club meetings.
  • Expressive Accessory: Her bunny pin expresses her emotions more than her face does. The official character chart even has her picture subtitled with "See the patch for my expression".
  • Friendless Background: She was shunned as a young girl because her caretaker was an old woman rumored to be a witch. On arriving at the orphanage, her lack of socialization made her come off as very creepy to the other children. It wasn't until the future Smug Nun joined the orphanage that she had someone she could truly call a friend.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Wore her hair like this as a child.
  • Growing Up Sucks: A flashback picture showing her rather unhappy on her 15th birthday is titled: "She doesn't want to grow up." One of the books in the picture is called: "How to stay a kid forever."
  • Mass Hypnosis: She managed to tame a flock of pigeons by doing this. She also tried it on the ducks as a child.
  • Odd Friendship: She's half of the "Cutie Club". The other half is Glasses Nun, of all people.
  • Tareme Eyes: Has a notably droopy eye shape.
  • Thousand-Yard Stare: She sports this when she's doing her hypnosis or otherwise being creepy. Her companion duck also exhibits this (likely from being hypnotized).

    Leaf Nun

AKA: Grey Bangs Nun (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/leaf_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__4a93f9b262ca9ab8cff12777a5dc8d42.png
Don't ruin my garden! Ouch!
Leaf is a nun who loves gardening. She has her own botanical garden and even a smaller garden within the convent.
She's so accident-prone that she always has a band-aid on her somewhere.
She is also very loved by the crows.
  • Animal Motifs: Ever since tending to some injured baby crows, she's becoming associated with crows in general. Fitting, given that they're associated with bad luck.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: She likes eating cacti, to the horror of the other nuns.
  • Born Unlucky: Has some kind of misfortune befall her in almost every appearance.
  • Caring Gardener: She's loved and cared for plants ever since she was a child.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's referred to as "Leaf Nun" because she usually has leaves or twigs in her hair, along with band-aids on her face, implying she's often falling over.
  • Lethal Chef: Her constant misfortune is so bad that she's actually banned from cooking duty (or even physically entering the kitchen).
  • Loyal Animal Companion: She befriends a flock of crows after nursing a few of them back to health.

    Freckles Nun

AKA: Strands Nun (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/freckles_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__549c7c3f95a2cc3ddc6b856d51384aab.png
I love cleaning.
Freckles is a nun who loves cleanliness.
She usually cleans up rooms that the children make messes of. She has also written numerous books requested by the children.
She is respected by everyone.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Received an origin story arc for December 2024.
  • Flat Character: Before she was established as the Convent's local Neat Freak, she had very little personality. Every other nun has some chacteristic trait, hobby, Trademark Favorite Food, companion animal or something else typical for them, but she just... was.
  • Hidden Depths: She's a talented storyteller, having written several books for the younger nuns to read.
  • Neat Freak: She genuinely enjoys cleaning.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: When December arrived for the first time since she came to convent, she became so overwhelmed with the thought of her late father (who died shortly after previous Christmas), that she ended up making a mess out of Christmas decorations.
  • Out of Focus: Is by far the nun with the least amount of focus in the comic, usually being relegated to background filler.
  • Parental Abandonment: Lost both of her parents at a young age: her mother seemingly died while she was still a baby, whereas her father is all but stated to have been battling some form of cancer and sent her to live at the convent so she wouldn't have to watch him waste away, succumbing to his illness not long before Christmas Day.
  • Youthful Freckles: Hence her nickname.

    Father

AKA: Padre, Brother Shades (Danbooru), Leon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/father_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__22c308ecce978067cbd8a3ecafe5256a.png
Please don't take my sunglasses.
Father is the priest of the monastery.
He wears sunglasses and looks tough. However, he has a calm and kind personality.
Collecting sunglasses is his hobby.
  • Butt-Monkey: Mishaps always seem to descend on the poor fellow.
  • The Comically Serious: Always has a serious expression, even as he's dragged into the nuns' antics, or has misfortune befall him.
  • Cool Shades: They make him look like The Professional, leading some readers to nickname him "Leon".
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Grew up poor and orphaned, joining the church after they kept him from being arrested for stealing from a market stall.
  • Face of a Thug: He looks stern and tough, but is actually very gentle-natured.
  • Heel–Faith Turn: For a loose definition of "heel", anyway — he became a monk after he was arrested for stealing from a stall, and while he initially only stayed there for the food and to avoid prison he eventually became sincere in his faith.
  • Iconic Item: Always wearing a pair of sunglasses. He even collects them. His backstory implies he inherited the habit from his mentor as a novice priest.
  • The One Guy: Justified Trope, as the series is set in a convent; as such, clergymen would be the only males allowed regular access. The only other male characters to appear more than once are Froggy Nun's father, the former monk that is Star Nun's old sports-obsessed friend, the blue jay-accompanied monk from the city monestary and Father's mentor.
  • Only Sane Man: Attempts to maintain a sense of dignity even as wacky chaos erupts around him. He usually fails.
  • Tragic Keepsake: His signature Cool Shades were a gift from his mentor, who died of old age when Father was still a young man.

    Pancake Nun
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pancake_nun_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva_hyxpk__b02087aa25accab3b22eb9c897bc8ecd.png
There's more pancake.
She is the cook at the convent.
As her name suggests, she loves pancakes and always makes them in large quantities.
She is one of the founding members of the convent.
  • Big Fun: She's a heavyset Granny Classic who's very jolly and good-natured.
  • Childhood Friends: Has known the Mother Superior since the former first founded the convent when she was a young woman and Pancake Nun was a little girl.
  • Flat Character: She likes pancakes and can cook well. That's kind of it personality wise.
  • Out of Focus: Even by the older nuns' standards, she doesn't get that much attention in the comics.
  • Supreme Chef: Everyone in the convent loves her cooking.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Pancakes, though she's more commonly seen serving them to others than actually eating them herself.

    Mother Superior
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mother_superior_little_nuns_drawn_by_diva.png
I wish everyone happiness.
She is the oldest nun.
She always watches over everyone with pure kindness.
Fifty years ago, she rebuilt and founded the convent by herself and brought with her a few ducks for company.

    Specs Nun

AKA: Glasses Nun's Aunt (Danbooru), Brunette Bangs Nun (Danbooru, former)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_01_06_103937.png

  • A Day in the Limelight: Appeared in the December 2022 Christmas arc, along with Memory Nun, where it was revealed that they moved to the city together. Appeared again (by herself) in January 2025, where it was revealed she's Glasses Nun's aunt.
  • Blind Without 'Em: Just like her sister and niece, she can't see a thing without her glasses.
  • Flat Character: Nothing much is known about her.
  • Put on a Bus: Appeared in the earlier comic strips, but eventually vanished without explanation.
    • Written-In Absence: Eventually revealed that she, along with Memory Nun, went to live at the nearby city's convent.

    Memory Nun

AKA: Parted Grey Nun (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_01_06_104319.png

  • A Day in the Limelight: Like Specs Nun, appeared in the December 2022 Christmas arc.
  • Flat Character: Only called Memory Nun because she appears in flashbacks and has no personality shown.
  • Not So Above It All: In Star Nun's backstory, she plays cards and gambles with The Artist. This prompts a young Star Nun to stare at them both with her pink 'Love' slipper.
  • Put on a Bus: Just like Specs.

Relatives and Other Characters

    The Frog Family
Froggy Nun’s family, consisting of her father, mother and grandmother (though the latter two are deceased by the time Froggy Nun comes to the convent).

General

  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Frog Mom is quite the pretty lady, while Frog Dad is a bit of a gonk, especially when he was a young man.

”Frog Dad”

AKA: Froggy Nun's Father (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_164818.png
  • A Day in the Limelight: The October 2024 arc of strips primarily focus on him meeting and falling in love with the woman who would later become his wife and the mother of Froggy Nun.
  • Animal Motifs: Ostriches. He wore an ostrich hat as a child, raises them on his farm, and is implied to have given Froggy Nun the egg that would later hatch into her pet ostrich Cookie.
  • Big Fun: He’s quite the heavyset man and is immensely caring and tender, particularly in regards to his family.
  • Ocular Gushers: He cries this way, just like his daughter.

”Frog Mom”

AKA: Froggy Nun's Mother (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_164909.png
  • Animal Motifs: Loved frogs just as much as her daughter does, to the point where she owned the exact same frog puppet.
  • Character Tics: Like her daughter, she sticks her tongue out a fair bit, to the point where it’s her expression in her portrait with Frog Dad.
  • Death by Childbirth: Died giving birth to Froggy Nun. This was heavily implied for some time, but finally confirmed in the October 24, 2024 comic. It's implied that the massive storm blowing through the area in the hours leading up to her giving birth kept the family from getting a proper midwife or doctor to assist with the birth, leading to her dying of complications.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: She had a very strong relationship with Sheep Nun when she was a little girl, much to the chagrin of the girl's actual parents. Needless to say, this lead to Sheep Nun being utterly devastated when Frog Mom died.
  • Posthumous Character: Died before the series began, and first seen in a painting of her and her husband. She first appeared in the comic proper in a flashback arc in January 2023. The October 7, 2024 comic confirms she's buried on Frog Dad's farm.

Farmer Turtle

AKA: Froggy Nun's Grandmother (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_165326.png
  • Animal Motifs: Turtles; she has a pet turtle on or near her whenever she's seen. The turtle, fully grown, is seen sleeping on what is presumably her grave in one comic set at Frog Farm.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Like her son and granddaughter, she's never seen smiling.
  • Posthumous Character: Died before the comic began, and is only seen in flashbacks and paintings. She appeared in a flashback in July 2022 detailing the Father's arrival to the monastery.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Helped the Mother Superior and her friends restore the building that would later become the convent.

    The Artist

AKA: Spicy Nun's Mother (Danbooru), Half-Bang Sr., Chili Mom, Right Bang

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_164649.png
Spicy Nun's mother, a former resident of the convent who left once she had grown up. She's an extremely talented artist in multiple fields, a trait her daughter inherited.
  • Artsy Beret: With a patch on its side.
  • But Now I Must Go: Chose not to take the veil when she came of age, instead leaving the convent behind (though her exact reasons are unknown).
  • Child Prodigy: Demonstrated an incredible artistic skill when she was still a child.
  • Cool Big Sis: Acted as one to the Star Nun, who still looks up to her.
  • Generation Xerox: The only difference between her as a child and her daughter is that they wear their bangs on opposite sides.
  • Parental Abandonment: She first appeared living alone in a tent on the convent grounds, with no hint she had any family. She herself averts it; though her career keeps her busy, she finds time to visit her daughter every so often.

    Donut Mom

AKA: Hungry Nun's Mother (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_165542.png
Hungry Nun's mother and the owner of Donut Boy, a local donut shop.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: Has notably thick eyebrows. Her daughter did not inherit them.
  • Determinator: Rode a bike through a snowstorm to get to her daughter (originally she planned to take a train, but they were not running).
    • In the August-September 2023 flashback arc on Hungry Nun's past, her donut shop is shown to be devoid of customers, and it is implied this has been the case for a long time. Some time after leaving the Hungry Nun to be raised in the convent, she focuses completely on restoring her business, personally delivering donuts to the workers of the local zoo by bicycle in the snow.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: She had them in flashback to Hungry's past.
  • Rags to Riches: Went from being so poor she couldn't afford food for two to being the head of a successful and beloved donut shop.
  • Stepford Smiler: In spite of her struggles to keep her donut shop going even if she had no customers, she would still put up a smile in front of her daughter.
  • Struggling Single Mother: Back when Hungry Nun was a toddler, she was doing everything she could to take care of her, even though it was obvious just how tiring this was for her. Fortunately, her shop eventually got off the ground.

    The Star Family

Older cousin AKA: Star Nun's Cousin (Danbooru)

Younger cousin AKA: Little Star Girl (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_165931.png
Star Nun's cousins and their parents, a family of doctors. They own and operate their own clinic, Star Hospital.
  • In the Blood: Of the cousin-side family we've seen (parents, older sister, younger sister), the first three are all doctors.
  • The Runaway: The younger of Star Nun's cousins ran off to the convent after a family spat, although she was eventually talked into going home again.
  • Sigil Spam: Every member of the family wears star decorations on their heads.
  • Team Pet: Star Nun's younger cousin has a pet bulldog named Buster. Her family also owns an older bulldog implied to be Buster's mother.

    Strict Nun's Mother
The mother of the Strict Nun, a former alcoholic.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_165758.png

  • Alcoholic Parent: Neglected her daughter due to her drinking habit; despite promises that she would stop, she didn't manage to sober up until after her daughter had already run away from home.
  • The Atoner: She seeks out her now-adult daughter hoping to make up for how she behaved during Strict Nun's childhood.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Turned to the bottle after her soldier husband died during deployment.
  • Honorary Uncle: Gladly takes on the role of an "honorary grandmother" to Clumsy Nun.
  • The Cameo: Her and her husband make a couple of brief appearances in Father's backstory.
  • The Teetotaler: Managed to overcome her alcoholism after her daughter left her. One comic showing her house shows that she entered a treatment program at Star Hospital, likely after being treated for alcohol poisoning in the event that caused her daughter to run away.

The Animals of the Convent

    In General

  • Empathy Pet: They often reflect the feelings of the Nuns.
  • Loyal Animal Companion: They all are very loyal to each other and the Nuns who they clearly like and love and are friends with. The Ducks are surprisingly organized and often help the Nuns in their various endavours and so do the other animals. Some of them are personal Animal Companions.
    • A brown frog and a ostrich (called Cookie on Twitter) are the companions of Froggy Nun. She found the former in the wilderness and the frog came with her and the ostrich was hatched from an egg from Froggy and raised by her since he was a baby. When Froggy Nun is busy with something, such as class or at a field trip, the ostrich is seen with Strict Nun, usually helping with errands around the convent.
    • A kitten (nicknamed Pepper on Twitter, this later became its official name on Diva's website) is the companion of Spicy Nun, who wandered alone into the convent and was adopted by Spicy.
    • A hedgehog as a companion for Glasses Nun who also wandered into the convent one day.
    • Star Nun has a deep friendship with a group of Geese that goes back to her childhood. They are also part of the Star Network.
    • A seldom seen rabbit as a companion for Bunny Nun.
    • A flock of crows became good friends and companions with Leaf Nun after she nursed a injured crow and since then they hang out with her and help her with defending the vegetable garden of the convent against thieves.

    Ostrich

AKA: Cookie the Ostrich (Danbooru)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2025_12_18_170104.png

Cookie the Ostrich joined the convent after freshly hatching from his egg under Froggy Nun's care, an egg which was a gift to Froggy Nun from her father.
This Ostrich grew up being raised by Froggy Nun and the two have a special relationship, and are more often seen together than apart, they are like daughter and son.
Despite being raised by Froggy Nun Cookie is very serious, composed and mature, even helping the older Nuns with transporting stuff, usually groceries.
Cookie is the tallest being in the convent, taller than every other animal or human.
The Ostrich is a member of the Ribbit Ribbit Gang and according to "Duck Quest" the second-in-command.

  • Berserk Button: Only gets visible angry when he witnesses how Froggy Nun rides another animal than him or even a vehicle.
  • Gentle Giant: Cookie is larger than anyone else in the Convent, but is mature, patient and very friendly and helpful.
  • Happily Adopted: By Froggy Nun.
  • Horse of a Different Color: Froggy Nun often rides on Cookie's back, he has even a saddle for such occasions. Cookie doesn't mind that, even likes it when Froggy rides on him and doesn't even mind when she is standing on his back.
  • Like Mother, Like Son: They share the same hook-bang hairstyle and the same resting frowny expression.
  • Like Mother, Unlike Son: Froggy Nun is boastful, hyperactive, childish and rash to action while Cookie the Ostrich is silent, calm, mature and patient.
  • Nice Guy: Very friendly and helpful.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Like his adopted mom the Ostrich never smiles, but he is clearly not unhappy.
  • Silent Snarker: Is not always impressed by the shenanigans of Froggy or the other Nuns and makes fitting facial expressions when he witnesses said shenanigans.
    • When he's not with Froggy Nun, he can seen with Strict Nun, usually helping her with work around the convent. (Word of God says they're good friends, so Ostrich can be found with Strict Nun about as frequently as his owner.) More often than not, this happens whenever Strict Nun witnesses something silly that causes her to frown at it, and the Ostrich shares her expression.
